Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the brand-new Call of Duty game that was just announced, introduces a more open-ended level structure, but the game remains largely a linear shooter that has giant set pieces and blockbuster action. Also in keeping with tradition, Black Ops Cold War's campaign will be about the same length as recent entries in the series, in terms of the total amount of time it will take to beat it, the developers at Raven Software have told GameSpot.

How Long Is Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Campaign?

We would estimate it to be about 5 hours. Raven Software's Dan Vondrak told GameSpot in a recent interview that fans can expect Cold War's campaign to be in line with games that came before it. "The game will be right on par with previous Call of Duty campaigns," he said. For reference, we estimated last year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare took about 5 hours to beat.

Now Playing: Call Of Duty Black Ops: Cold War Release Date & Campaign - Everything You Need To Know

As usual, your mileage may vary. If you're checking every nook and cranny, and specifically if you're playing in a more stealth manner, the total runtime could be longer.

"There are so many different options that we haven't done before, and everyone plays it so differently, some stealth sections take people a long time," Vondrak said. "Some people try to collect all the evidence before they complete the side missions others will just complete the side missions right away. So the game will absolutely be right on par with the last few previous campaigns in Call of Duty in terms of length of time."

Black Ops Cold War releases on November 13 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will also launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when those consoles arrive sometime later this year, but it won't be free in the standard edition.

While Activision is focusing on discussing the single-play campaign for now, Cold War will also bring back Treyarch's fan-favorite Zombies mode, as well as standard multiplayer. The game will also integrate with the free-to-play Warzone, instead of Blackout 2. For more, don't miss these details on when you'll be able to play its upcoming open beta.
