The Gears of War 4 beta is expected to begin on Xbox One in spring 2016, Microsoft has announced.

The announcement comes by way of the fine print of this landing page for the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. People who buy that upcoming Xbox One bundle, due in August, can get "early access" to the Gears of War 4 beta if they login to Xbox Live and play the Ultimate Edition by March 1, 2016.

There is no word yet regarding what the Gears of War 4 beta will entail. The game itself was announced less than a month ago during E3. It is currently scheduled to launch in holiday 2016.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, a remastered version of the 2006 Xbox 360 game, launches on August 25. Microsoft will also release a special $350 Xbox One bundle that day that comes with the game. In addition, the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is coming to PC, but Microsoft has not announced a release date.

im glad gears kept local co-op unlike call of failo 5 which got rid of one of its most iconic features, infact the one feature that made halo ce successful and enabled xbox to survive.

Got mine, also got the R6 Siege Beta guaranteed. So much gaming to do in the next couple of months. Where will I find all of the time? When was the last summer you said that to yourself? It's good to be a gamer.

Gears of War beta was so smooth, it was like it had all the refinements of GOW3 put into MP. One of the best MP games ever, with better controls. Looks like they're going to nerf the gnasher,so it won't be a noob gnasher only fest. good times indeed.

@Megavideogamer: AGREED! Gears is by far and hands down one of the best game franchises. I've played through all of them at least 2-3 times. I just ran through Gears 3 last week in 3D which was pretty awesome on my 360. Theres plenty in the remake thats new including I believe 2hrs more campaign. Gears 4 looked ridiculous! The graphics were insane! Cant wait!

Thats messed up. they have to PreOrder Gears 4 and Buy the Original Remaster/Remake to play the game they just bought early. The E3 Trailer for Gears 4 turn me off so much, where are the muscled dude bros that kill 100ft aliens with just bullets and a Carmine?

You know, the guy that always in the last sentence of an xbox article says either something negative or for some reason had to throw in that the gears 1 a ultimate edition would also be out on pc, even tho we dont know when... LOL whats that got to do with the console beta for Gears 4??? Gears 4 wasnt announced for PC so PC gamers have nothing to do with the Gears 4 beta.... Nice Eddie, definitely expected, damn fanboy....
