Heavy Rain studio revealing next project at E3 - Report

Quantic Dream founder David Cage will reportedly reveal his studio's next gaming project at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo in June in Los Angeles.

Cage's next project will reportedly be revealed at E3 next week.

Citing a "senior development source" inside the Heavy Rain studio, a CVG report states that Cage will appear onstage during Sony's E3 press conference next Monday to talk about his next project.

The same source also reportedly told the publication that Quantic Dream is currently working on two unannounced projects for Sony, though it is unclear whether both are in development for the PlayStation 3.

Earlier this month, Cage stated that the next generation of consoles won't be needed until 2017, saying he would be happy to see the PS3 continue on for another five years.

The most recent title that Cage and Quantic Dream released was 2010's well-received adventure game Heavy Rain. Cage showed a tech demo titled Kara during the 2012 Game Developers Conference in March, but the developer said that this has nothing to do with the company's next project.

Absolutely loved Heavy Rain. Can't wait to see what they do this time. Heavy Rain was pretty ground breaking in my opinion. A true one of a kind game.

It would be nice if they brought Heavy Rain to the PC. The game looked interesting, but I'm no longer interested in investing more money into a console I barely touch anymore.

@vicsrealms agreed, most of my friends definately don't have a PS3 and I can't compel them to buy one just by the usual internet meme explanations that aren't funny til you see them(and sometimes not even then). took me forever before I even heard about this game and I play alot of games.

@PixelAddict Agreed, I loved it. Showed it to 3 friends and watched each do their own playthrough and they loved it to. I'd take innovation, amazing characters, powerful stories and heavy decisions any day over traditional gameplay.

Amen to that... much as the story of his previous releases has been a cut above average, I much prefer something where I feel like I'm having an effect as opposed to just moving the story onto the next QTE.

The game where what you do actually has an effect on the outcome... as opposed to being moved from one QTE to the next QTE before hitting another QTE... not exactly award winning gameplay is it?

@lmaocarrots Much like Kojima titles, you don't so much "play" these games as "watch"... which is what you'd expect when the developer has admitted that he only got into games because the story was rejected by the film industry.

@TTDog Your decisions in Heavy Rain had way, WAY more effect on the outcome than Mass Effect 1-3. I've played all, you obviously haven't.

I don't know whether to be happy or sad about this news. One point of view; it's awesome that they'll be revealing what they're doing next during E3. But the other point of view is that Kara is having nothing to do with the next project. I really wanted to see what they were planning to do with that.. It looked like an interesting premise..

@JimmeyBurrows True, I'm not going to say that's put me off whatever they've got in the works, I'll definitely be looking forward to an announcement during E3. It's just it feels as if they wasted an opportunity, that's all. Only a personal opinion though, not going to say everyone has to agree with me.

@N0tYrBeezin Yeah true, but I was expecting them to do SOMETHING with it. Most developers base that sort of tech on their entire games, let alone just a tech demo. As much as I love Quantic Dream, I think Cage is an arse.

This tech demo gave me more than most games ever have. David Cage is a genius on some level because that takes a lot. Aside from wanting to know about (or play out) Kara's fate, I'm very touched by the deep emotions that went in to this. Not using this would be a great mistake.

no wonder these guys don't want next gen systems yet.. They have a game coming out so the don't want to have to deal with the trouble of porting it to new hardware, where it might not look so next gen...
