HBO Max is set to launch in Europe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, WarnerMedia's streaming service will be available in six European countries from October 26.

HBO Max will launch initially in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Spain, and Andorra. The platform will roll out to 14 other European countries from next year, namely Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

While the full content line-up hasn't been revealed yet, it is expected that European subscribers will be able to watch HBO Max originals, high-profile HBO shows such as Game of Thrones and Succession, movies and shows from the Warner catalog, and releases from Warner-owned companies such as DC and Cartoon Network.

In a statement, HBO Max International head Johannes Larcher said, "This is a historic moment as HBO Max lands in Europe. WarnerMedia movies and series like Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and The Big Bang Theory are passionately consumed by fans all across Europe, and HBO Max has been created to provide them with the most intuitive and convenient viewing experience to watch these and a diverse range of other amazing titles."

While this is the first time HBO Max has been available outside the US and Canada since it launched in May 2020, it will be some time before it's available in major European countries such as the UK, Germany, France, and Italy. WarnerMedia has an existing licensing agreement with Sky TV in those regions, which doesn't end until 2025.

In related news, in August it was reported that a new HBO Max app is in development. Many users of the existing app have experienced problems with it over the past year, and the replacement is expected to start rolling out after this year.
