Halo 5: Guardians expands again today with the release of Hammer Storm, the Xbox One shooter's latest free update. And that's not all. Developer 343 also teased the game's future expansions and content, confirming that the fan-favorite Firefight mode and more will be added in the future.
Included with Hammer Storm is a new Arena map (Torque) as well as new weapons like the Gravity Hammer and the Halo 1-era Magnum. It also introduces the Grifball multiplayer mode and more. A full rundown of Hammer Storm's content (as well as the patch notes) is available here in this Halo Waypoint post.
343 also today teased Halo 5's upcoming DLC, which will include expansions called "Ghosts of Meridian," "Memories of Reach," and "Hog Wild." These will include new maps, weapons, and Reqs. Additionally, 343 confirmed that Firefight, the PvE mode first seen in Halo 3: ODST, will return for Halo 5.
It will be called Warzone Firefight. For now, 343 is only saying that it will "let players battle together against common foes (and truly show off their custom Spartans to boot!)." Further details will be shared in the coming months.
Hammer Storm is Halo 5's fourth free update since the game launched in October 2015. The other three were Battle of Shadow and Light (November 2015), The Cartographer's Gift (December 2015), and Infinity's Armory (January 2016).
