Gears of War 4 Will Be "Graphical Showcase" on Xbox One, Producer Says

Yeah but Gears also revolutionised third person cover shooters. What is this one doing other than graphics?

Well, they shouldn't use Halo 5 as a benchmark because, lets be honest, that didn't look incredible, to say the least. But I do think they can achieve awesomeness, specially if they are aiming at the original GoW experience, since it is not about the scale of the scenarios, but the mood!

I really wish they would remaster all the Gears like PS did the uncharted games. And yes i know there is BC.

If the turnip box can display this game like the videos I've seen. I can't wait to see what else the PS4 has in store, never mind PC.

Just save everyone the frustration and make it on PS4 instead, please? At least make a good PC port. Sucks such a good game is stuck on the Turnipbox One...

I agree, these are not PCs and they will always lose when compared to PCs. They are both consoles and instead of trying to emulate the PC, why not lean on the proprietary nature of being a console. This starts with creating games ground up and using engines designed to utilize the consoles capabilities. There were some amazing and unique titles on consoles that were exclusively designed for the console...look at Shadow of the Colossus. This is a title that uses the PS2 cleverly from the ground up...if this was a PC port, it would have truly sucked.

Because i cant understand why everybody want 60fps and online , Xone and PS4 are not PC, and they have limits, So if they want make somthing Real next Gen they should just focus on story mode and graphics, not 60fps or online mode like the division,, look how they could make a real nice next gen game on the division and because of online mode this game even hav'nt a single player mode or campaign, i loved the division and i wanted pre order it but when i found out it havent campaign single player story mode i forget about that game and i dont buy it , anyway i dont want my Beloved GEARS 4 do the same thing , and i want they make sure the graphics be a Real next gen like gears 1 do to x360, fps and resolution dosent matter but next gen textures and artistic graphic is the one thing is matter

All the above stated things sound good n all. But, they better not remove split-screen campaign like it was done on Halo 5. It just killed the game for me.

It seems that the only newer console that offers more than the last generation has been Nintendo when comparing titles such as Mario Maker and Super Smash versus past versions...now they offer 1080p, 60fps and up to 8 players on screen at once...more than ever before. Now, let's compare Microsoft's Halo 5, no system link, no firefight, no spartan ops, no split-screen...now what about Gears 4? I thought the original Gears was the first title to showcase my 360, in fact it was the titles that made me want a 360... and it was simply astounding! Gears 2 and 3 even more improved on graphics, movement and the addition of Horde match that worked will with system link...I really loved these games and always will. So, what are they going to sacrifice this time on the Xbox One? So far, I am ashamed to own 2 Xbox One's...just look at Halo 5. This is the only Halo I didn't bother to purchase...not only is this a major disappointment, but it does not hold a candle to what was offered with Halo Reach...perhaps I'll purchase it for $20 some day, but perhaps not. This generations "online only" thing illustrates corporate money grabbing from customers pockets...offering less of an experience for more dollars. The only reason why Halo 5 sold so well was that nothing else has come out that's worth using and those of us suckered into supporting Microsoft by purchasing a console has nothing else to play. So, let's see what they do with the new Gears...the new Crackdown, if it's what it promises will require online only play, but should Gears 4? I don't think so. If it sucks, I suppose I can still play Gears 3, the Masterchief collection or Titanfall...these are currently the best games that will run on the Xbox One in my opinion...but what would I know about games, I have only gamed since my first Atari back in 1982.

Well if they make a gears of war that is really a graphical showcase with good gameplay and great reviews then I will buy a xbox so lets see what happens.

This is What the whole gears franchise always felt to me, a graphical showcase, even the 360 ones.

Every time i tried them they just felt cluncky and stiff gameplay wise.

Maybe with the diferent developer they can arrange for a better "marriage" of Graphics and gameplay, not having much faith though..

god dammit why gears? i never got on the halo train. Gears was that series that was bad ass. gritty, good story, great characters, and gave no fucks to any aliens. now MS has pretty much made it into a Resident Evil clone that no one wanted. and now its going to become a graphical showcase game. i thought Quantum Break/Halo 5 was doing that. way till kill all buzz for the game MS.

It's kind of a shame if you think about it, hopefully this eventually comes to PC, and I always think that if a game is to come to PC then let it run like shit on consoles but max out the visual capabilites so that when you get it on PC you can run it at 60 and have the same graphical fidelity with no holds barred

This can be either a good thing or a bad thing. Two of the best graphics on next-gen consoles to date are The Order and Ryse Son of Rome, which are two poorly regarded games. If they manage to pull off good graphics AND good gameplay though, then kudos to them...

I misread that as "God of War 4"

i have no faith in gears 4, i know there's people out there that love this franchise but when somone states a "graphical showcase" all i think of is ryse and the order, games that were built to "look good" and not made to be fun or enjoyable. i also feel like gears games themselves have been milked alot already, judgment was bad and such and i dont see this ending well.

As i see it, the focus here is the 60 FPS; not only shiny graphics. This is important because it shows they are leaning more towards smooth gameplay.

When all is said and done though, every console needs a graphical showcase to show off its capabilities. If it is coupled with great gameplay and an evolving story, then we are talking about very High tier. I hope GOW 4 will make it there, but i somehow doupt it.

@magicalclickRyse, superficially looked great, but play-ability was disappointing...I played it for 1.5 hours and never came back. Titanfall, I played it 8 hours straight and still think it's a fun experience, the same goes for Halo 2,3,Reach, 4 and Gears 1,2and 3...I hope Microsoft does not produce another Halo 5.
