Kevin, Caro, and Chris were eager to share their thoughts on the marvelous Gone Home. Caution: This spoilercast has, well, spoilers in it! It's right in the name, after all. But if you have not yet played Gone Home (which you totally should) but intend to, you should wait to listen/watch until you have.

When are people gonna let go of this preconceived notion about what gaming is or should be?When are they gonna stop dismissing games like this because there's no shooting,no platforming and in their own words "no gameplay" ?

I'm grateful for the people who made Gone home or even people like David Cage, for trying to bring something more meaningful to gaming. Mindless fun as in in saints row is cool but sometimes there's a need for something different and gaming needs to evolve.

I think it would be fun to have a stealth based game where you break into your neighbors' houses and the gameplay included Gone Home elements. It might sound creepy but most RPGs implicitly condone that behavior. I can't think of a goal though. Maybe to solve neighborhood crimes? Kind of Dexter like but without killing.

@Sun-Tzu-GE If only there was an entire genre for these kind of games...

Ones where you go on ADVENTURES!, But without the action.

Perhaps you could call them "Adventure" games!?

@Mister_Zurkon @Sun-Tzu-GE IMHO this game seems closer to a visual novel. Anyone approaching this game from a gameplay perspective will probably feel disappointed.

I really hope this game is successful enough that it warrants more games like this in the future.

No, not a sequel, you stupid game industry! I mean games that focus on stories told in ways only games can... And with characters that are believable instead of trying to emulate movies...

One can dream i guess...

They definitely did a good job with the atmosphere is this game.Even though I knew it's not a horror game,I had a huge feeling of anxiety and fear when entering a new room.

I find more excitement wandering around my house finding stuff i forgot about honestly. I found an old box of magic cards one day worth like 4 grand. That was a good day.

@dt2003 Give it another try in a few weeks. Once you get into it it is really really good. Wouldn't want you to miss it.

I Loved exploring the house (more like a castle).......I Loved exploring every item and every room and every hidden location in it.......listing to every mix tape......reading all the notes.......and i also loved the way they told us or made us understand the Story along with its really believable voice acting......But the Story Itself just ruined it ALL for me........a Love story ??? really ??? all that searching and all that reading is to lead us to the conclusion that Sam ran away with her love ??? that really sucked.......it was too lame and too boring and too frkn cliche.......i dont know what i wanted from the ending but i wanted something Unique like the ending of Dear Esther............(but thats of course just My opinion of the game)

@RIIIIKU A cliche? Not unique? How many games have you played that tell LGBT love stories with hopeful endings? :/ It's not only not a cliche, it's singular.

@Kevin-V @RIIIIKU The LGBT aspect is the only thing that makes it unique though. Take that away and you've got Romeo and Juliette minus the death

@Kevin-V @RIIIIKU I was kinda hoping that the story near its end will take a turn or have a twist or something.......like maybe (and i know am an a-hole for wanting it) Kate would be actually dead from an accident on her trip........and before she "Moves On" she go to her house (as a spirit) to see her family one last time...........

(you don't want to keep reading, u have been warned)

.......then she finds out about Sam and that Sam was actually trying to kill herself .......and at the hose you meet the Reaper.....Kate thinks he was there to get her.....insted she finds out the he was there to get Sam First then he will go for Kate....Kate get all like "Oh no u ant taking my lil sis u old B***h"........she pulls out a Fork and kills the reaper.......Sam change her mind about killing herself and decide to live.....yay :) ..............meanwhile a Ghost Kate lingers in the hose coz the reaper that was supposed to take her was killed by a fork.......Kate turns into a Vengeful Spirit.....Posses Sam....kills her.....now we have 2 angry spirits......they posses mom and dad.....kills them........and now we have a Hose full of angry ghosts.......10 years later....."Gone Home 2: The Return of the Greenbriars"

(jokes aside tho....Love is always too boring in video games.......boring for me atlest)

@RIIIIKU Actually exploring a dark castle would have been more interesting than this house.
