Fortnite Teases New High Stakes Event With New Skin And Challenges
A new LTM, challenges, and outfit are on the way.
Season 5 of Fortnite may be winding down, but developer Epic Games still has a few surprises in store for players before the season wraps up. Ahead of PAX West, the studio has announced it is kicking off a new High Stakes event in Fortnite: Battle Royale next week, which will encompass a new limited-time mode, a special set of challenges, and more.
Details on the High Stakes event are still scarce, but it appears to be themed around gambling and heists. The new LTM will be called Getaway, although Epic hasn't shared any further information yet on what that will entail. Players will also have a series of High Stakes challenges to complete and be able to get their hands on the new Wild Card skin. You can take a look at the latter below.

Epic will give fans their first look at the High Stakes event during its PAX West stream. The stream will be broadcast on the official Fortnite Twitch channel and is scheduled to run "all weekend long," beginning tonight, August 31, at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET.
Ahead of the High Stakes event, Epic has added a similarly themed Ace Pack to the Fortnite store. Like the Starter Pack before it, this bundle can only be purchased once per account and includes two cosmetic items: the new Ace Outfit and the Swag Bag Back Bling, which looks like a duffle bag stuffed with cash. The pack also comes with 600 V-Bucks, giving it particularly good value even if you don't care for the included cosmetics. You can purchase it for $5.
Fortnite's 5.30 content update recently arrived, and it introduced another item to Battle Royale: the Shockwave Grenade, a new type of weapon that launches players a great distance when activated. Epic also recently rolled out a new set of weekly challenges, which have players searching between oversized seats and using rifts. You can find guides for all of this season's challenges in our complete Season 5 challenge guide.
