European EyeToy shipments exceed 2 million

SCEE announces that more than 2 million copies of EyeToy: Play have shipped in Europe to date.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today announced that more than 2 million copies of EyeToy: Play have shipped in Europe since it launched in July. Sales of the USB camera-based collection of minigames have peaked in the run up to Christmas, and SCEE has been forced to airlift in supplies from the Far East in an attempt to meet the demand.

"The demand for EyeToy has been fantastic, from day one of release in early summer right through the Christmas season," said Patrick Inskip, senior vice president of operations for SCEE. "The use of air freight throughout this period has been crucial to keep up with the unrelenting demand across all of SCEE's European markets."

EyeToy: Play has been available in North America since early last month. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
