Empire Earth II basks in gold

Expansive real-time strategy game is complete; will hit shelves April 28.

Mad Doc Software has sent Empire Earth II to be duplicated and boxed for retail sale. The gold master was completed on April 8, a full 20 days before the retail version will hit stores this coming April 28. Vivendi Universal Games is publishing the PC-only game.

Empire Earth II gives players the opportunity to shepherd a civilization from the Stone Age to the nuclear age, all while battling other peoples for natural resources and territory. The game encompasses more than 12,000 years of simulated history and features diplomacy, online play, and "advanced artificial intelligence."

The game is rated T for Teen and will retail for $49.99.
