We've now learned that DiCaprio's win generated lots of buzz on social network sites including Twitter. His Oscar win led to 440,000 tweets per minute, making it the most-tweeted minute of any Oscar telecast ever, Twitter announced today. It blew past the previous record of 255,000 tweets per minute, which was set in 2014 with host Ellen Degeneres' staged selfie.

Coming in behind DiCaprio in terms of tweets-per-minute was Spotlight for its Best Picture win, with Mad Max: Fury Road landing in the No. 3 position after it picked up its sixth Oscar for sound mixing. Specific tweets-per-minute numbers were not divulged for Spotlight and Fury Road.

Degeneres' selfie is still the top Oscar tweet ever, reaching 2.9 million retweets in the first 24 hours and more than 3.3 million as of today, according to Variety. DiCaprio's tweet made out pretty well, too.

Variety also reports that DiCaprio was a big winner on Facebook, taking the top spot in the buzz chart. He was followed by Spotlight's Best Picture win, Lady Gaga's performance of "Til It Happens to You," and Alejandro Inarritu taking home the Best Directing award. In all, Facebook said 24 million of its users logged 67 million "interactions" (posts, likes, and comments) about the awards show. This was up from 21 million users and 58 million interactions for last year's event.
