The Batman will be the next movie about the Dark Knight. The film won't hit theaters until June 2021, but it will have three villains: Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, and quite possibly, Colin Farrell playing the Penguin, as the actor is currently in talks for the role.

The True Detective star is currently in negotiations with Warner Bros., according to a report from Deadline, to take on the role of Oswald Cobblepot, better known as the Penguin. It's unknown at this time how the character fits into this movie.

Last month, Jonah Hill was rumored to be playing either Riddler or Penguin for the film, but ultimately, he passed on the roles for undisclosed reasons.

This will be the fourth live-action version of Cobblepot fans have seen. Most notably, Danny DeVito played the character 1992's Batman Returns. Additionally, Burgess Meredith took on the role in the 1966 Batman TV series, and Robin Lord Taylor played the character on all all five seasons of Gotham, which recently came to a close on Fox.

Farrell could join Kravitz and Dano as the third villain in the movie that will come face-to-face with Gotham City's vigilante Batman, which will be played by Robert Pattinson. Additionally, Andy Serkis is in talks currently to play Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred.

The Batman was originally going to be directed by Ben Affleck, but he dropped out back in 2017. In early 2019, he confirmed he wouldn't star in the movie either. Now, The Batman will be directed by Matt Reeves, who will be delivering a "point of view-driven, noir Batman tale." The film will be more detective-driven than any of the previous films, leaning into the mythos of Batman being the "World's Greatest Detective."

The Batman comes to theaters on June 25, 2021.
