It appears production on the new Thor movie, Love and Thunder, is ramping up. After we learned that Matt Damon is in Australia to reprise his role in the sequel, it's now been confirmed that series star Chris Hemsworth is lined up to begin shooting his scenes very soon.

Hemsworth himself said on Instagram that he is set to start filming Love and Thunder this week. The actor was enjoying some R&R at Australia's remote Lord Howe Island with his family before jetting off again to film the new Thor movie somewhere else in Australia.

Hemsworth is an official partner of the Australian government's tourism body, and this is not the first time he's promoted Lord Howe Island specifically.

Director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) is returning to direct Love and Thunder, which is set for a May 2022 release.

Natalie Portman will reprise her role as Jane Foster, Chris Pratt will make an appearance as Star-Lord, and Christian Bale has been cast as Gorr the Butcher. We also recently learned that Karen Gillen's Nebula may appear in the film.

Love and Thunder is part of the MCU Phase 4--check out GameSpot's extended Phase 4 coverage to learn more about all of the projects in the works.
