Burnout Paradise Remastered Microtransaction Listing Is A Mistake, Says EA

"Pitchforks down please."

Burnout Paradise Remastered will not, it seems, include microtransactions. After the PS4, Xbox One, and PC remaster was announced yesterday, some fans spotted that the game's PlayStation Store listing stated it would include optional "in-game purchases." The message is still present on the store listing, but EA says the note is a mistake.

"The store listing for Burnout Paradise that mentions 'in-game purchases optional' is an error," said EA's community engagement manager, Ben Walke. "There is no MTX or any additional paid for content. Pitchforks down please."

Now Playing: GS News Update: Burnout Paradise Remastered Microtransaction Listing Is A Mistake, Says EA

No Caption Provided

EA has received criticism from fans for its handling of microtransactions, primarily with regards to Star Wars Battlefront II. The company says the game was a "learning opportunity," however microtransactions are coming back to Battlefront II, having previously been temporarily removed.

The original Burnout Paradise received a number of DLC packs, and the eight main ones that launched during the Year of Paradise are included in the remaster. They are Big Surf Island, the Party Pack, Burnout Bikes, Boost Special, Legendary Cars, Cagney Update, Toys, and the Cops & Robbers Pack. All that will set you back US $40 / £35 / AU $48 on PS4 and Xbox One.

The remaster's release date has been set for March 16, with a PC version coming "later this year." The current-gen edition includes "high resolution textures" and 4K / 60 FPS support for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

EA actually has to say "pitchforks down, please" in an official response now.

@aeronperyton: it’s well deserved. By saying pitchforks down please it shows how lightly they take everyone’s outrage over what they’ve done.

I don't get you anymore, EA. You just released a statement saying you were so proud of microtransactions and were planning to bring them back to Battlefront 2 and use them in future games, yet here you were clearly afraid of people getting upset about them.

You KNOW people will get get upset over this and some will even refuse to buy your games because of it. This greed is becoming self destructive and, honestly, a lot of people are just done with it. I know that I am.

Screw you EA, the only game I'm first to buy is Dice's Battlefield (not Battlefront) series. And I feel bad knowing I'm giving you my money again.

Burnout paradise was mediocre 1st time round, and Mt's being listed are a mistake, for now!!!!

Personally i couldn't care about loot box's and MT's if the game is decent enough in the first place and warrants the £40-50 plus value ill buy it and leave the "extra's" to the noobs and under achievers in the gaming world.

But usually of late the EA games are crap anyway

@xnshd: current gen = drive-club, dirt 4, (you could argue dirt series is a rally game but non the less arcade style)

previous gen before above (ps3 xbox 360 era) =

any dirt series

motor storm (all 4) (inc psp edition),

grid (all of them),

nfs most wanted,

midnight club la remix, (definitely my favourite of all time)

ridge racer unbounded.

previous gen before above (xbox classic, ps2 ) =

forza

burnout 1-3

pgr

outrun

juiced 2

previous gen before above (ps1 , dreamcast era) =

ridge racer (all)

V rally all (again rally but arcade style), with the first being especially memorable.

roll cage (pc version and ps1)

vanishing point (dreamcast version)

4 wheel thunder (dream cast version)

Metropolis street racer (dreamcast)

hydro thunder

motorhead

toca (all of them)

Previous gen before above

sega rally (saturn)

Daytona

Road rash

These are only a few listed herei own and there are many more i enjoy within these generations above, game-cube and portable systems not included.

Would you like me to continue with the 16 bit generation or have i satisfied your comment and question?

@alien33: haha no and im being genuine here, i nearly added it to the list along with flat out 1 and 2, also totalled was memorable (uk version of the name i forget).

I thought Destruction Derby 2 was such a step up from the first and even better, visually i remember it being massively improved, what an early ps1 game to lead from, yes very memorable and still a great game today.

@itchyflop: I wouldn’t include Forza and DIRT 1 and 4 (4 is not as hardcore as dirt rally but I wouldn’t classify it as arcade)... also no love for the n64 games? Beetle Adventure Racing was pretty cool

@LeoKRock: ha yeah it was, I was at work so had little time, man we could list loads!!

cruis’n USA though not as good as arcade was ok for the time !!!

with regard to forza, it’s not a sim and yet u can build ur car, change it. Wouldn’t u agree it still has that arcade “drive” to it, not like say project cars ??

@itchyflop: I had so much fun with Cruis’n USA and Cruis’n World in the Arcades... I used to prefer Cruis’n to Daytona (time proved I was wrong...).

The N64 ports were OK, contrary to popular opinion I consider USA a more faithful port, it was like a downgraded version of the same arcade experience. World on the other hand had more work done to it, so it felt more comfortable as a home console game, but it sacrificed a bit of the arcade feel.

And about Forza, while I agree that they don’t fit into the sim bill, it is a stretch to call it arcade... they are in the same boat as Gran Turismo, one with too much grip, the other with too little grip.

I also like the first Horizon game, it had a nice simcade feel combined with the open-world. In the Second and third one they went full arcade with offroad Racing in lambos and Ferraris and I prefer my arcade games more focused (the reason I’m also not a fan of Burnout Paradise)

@LeoKRock: Iv heard they are releasing a new Daytona arcade !!!

aha no I agree cruis’n was great fun, I always struggled with Daytona, it was damn hard in the arcade.

The Dreamcast port wasn’t much easier !!!

Burnout paradise was and is ok, I just got bored after a couple of hours.

@itchyflop: I watch some reviews from the new Daytona, looks awful, unfortunately. I only got into Daytona recently, with the 360 version becoming backwards compatible with Xbox One... it ended 2017 in my top 5 most played of the year!

@itchyflop: Sorry current gen you have listed drive club as a good racing game. All credibility has just gone out the window dude. No mention of Forza Horizon but yet Drive Club is shit hot according to you. If you like drive club yet don't think very highly of Burnout Paradise or the Forza Horizon games then there really isn't anything left to say.

@xnshd: now how did I know u we’re gonna say that? U wouldn’t be right then would u?

u think I have none anyway, I’ve mentioned forza series Xbox classic where it started, READ, I’m at work, typing in a short time frame, these are only some driving non sim games.

how about you stop pushing ur opinion which is all it is on me on here !! preference or diversity is what makes us all unique!!!

Everybody has “unique” tastes, a lot of people don’t like driveclub, a lot do!!! Iv played a lot as u can see from a small selection listed, granting me a lot of experience and enjoyment along the way, some dissapontment to like most of the nfs series bar a few!!

I could say uv no experience or ur narrow minded but i don’t know u !!! How bout you list some and we’ll all judge ur “uniqueness” !!!

Burnout paradise wasn’t anything amazing, lazy mechanics already done 3 times over and a confusing map system. imo mediocre, it looked ok and sounded alright but nothing new other than sandbox style which to me made it cumbersome and not exciting

The first 3 had a sense of urgency to race harder to them, sandboxing it made that urgency disappear, a roamer.

You buy the new one, and hey enjoy it, oh and for the record and this will really tilt the pinball machine of credibility needle, I’ll say it quietly as not to upset the rest of the anal clan “I bought gear club for the Nintendo switch too, and in hard mode.... I like it”

?

@itchyflop: again you like drive club so everything you say i can't take seriously. somethings in life don't really have valid opinions, yes you can have one but in some cases its not subjective its just plane wrong.

like for example Paradise is the best burnout game period, the other where great but taking it from basically a single track you load into to an open world where you can do all the same activities just more fluidly with next to no loading just made in better plain and simple.

on the subject of drive club its basically the order 1886 of video games it looks very nice had pretty weather effects but as for the actual gameplay it was dull and boring. next to no cars compared to other racers out there and very few tracks at launch.

as you can see i haven't pushed my opinion on you for your other games as well some aren't to my taste but i can see for some there is a quality game there yet with drive club im sorry there isn't. like i already said its like calling the order 1886 a good game just because it looks pretty.

@xnshd: in your opinion !!!!

Your opinion is wrong !!!!

See I can do it too.

“Where u can do the same activities”, over and over, how many repeats do u watch on tv ?

you haven’t pushed ur opinion on the other games, no, uv picked the obvious one I put in there, singled it out and that’s it I’m not credible, never mind the hoards of other racing games, a few listed and let’s be honest here they quite different from each other, which non of them you like, well I’m shocked !!!! (Sarcsasm) again, Youve picked the one that got the most negativity and not just on here and play on it to make me look not credible, because then u r!!!

I’m no expert, I’m sure ull hastily agree on that, but Iv played and own a lot of games and hardware, which I enjoy, if you don’t enjoy the same, well that’s why there’s so much choice !!!

driveclub has tons of dlc, some free, some really cheap, an adequate base single player selection. Comparing it to the order (which I also have) is WRONG, and is a completely separate genre of game, you know imo !!!!

it’s ur opinion and that’s it, PERIOD

like I said why don’t u list some you do like ?

@itchyflop: i like alot of the stuff you listed hence why i didn't rip them to shreds. the order 1886 wasn't a direct comparison either it was simply just a way of trying to get you to understand how sub par of a game Driveclub is. yes its had DLC yet at launch it had next to no content and just looks pretty which is why i brought up the order. big deal its now got more content that content should have been in the game from launch. drive club cars at launch 50 FH2 210, released the exact same year its embarrassing.

got to say as well before the Xbox fan boy comeback i own a PS4 i love most of the exclusives sony have put out like bloodborne, the uncharted's, last of us, ratchet and clank, nier automata, crash trilogy, hellblade and am super looking forward to the likes of spiderman, days gone, GOW, TLOU2 and Detroit become human.

@xnshd: I know what ur doing with the 1884 comparison, ur still wrong, dc isn’t just pretty. why don’t you read up on why they had problems, in particular the director of the firm and his son being terminally ill!!!

Not that makes a difference to you but hey it may bring it into perspective, and how they’ve achieved what they have to date.

Listing 7/8/10 scoring games (and I’m being broad, don’t be anal) that arnt arcade racers doesn’t make you more credible, I have all those games and the ones before they were rereleased, the fact U have old games remastered like crash, does that make u less credible ?

Maybe ur not old enough to have owned it on ps1, my point I haven’t slated ur opinion on games because of it!!!

Once more for the record uncharted 4 again is more of the same, not a bad experience but nothing new but visually, like 1884 u could say !!!!!

I find it lame uv pointed out one game that is band wagon negative sheep following narrow minded gamers knee jerk stuff, go play a ps3 racer and then play drive club!!! Maybe then u may appreciate how good it doesn’t just look but play !!!

why don’t you list some racers instead of ps4 exclusives, oh and no Xbox comeback I’m not that lame!!!

Forza is indeed a good series that’s why I listed one!!

@alien33: ahh yeah 2 was brilliant, 4 maybe could of enjoyed more, 6 i thought wasn't much different than 5 on ps3, i didn't include those in the list due to anal comments about it being a semi sim racer????

There is a ps2 game where you can race on different terrain, with specific cars for each tarmac and sand (buggy etc), i cant remember what the name and it'll take me hours of looking through my extensive game library to find it, however that is a good racer of its era.

Also wild wild racing (ps2) was great, again is it a rally game but in arcade style?

@itchyflop: The only game I know of with a tire in the loading screen was ModNation Racers. It was a PS3 game though, so probably not the one your trying to think of.

That was a good game, though I think the long loading is what turned a lot of people off the game.

@lion2447: no it was a ps2 game, thanks though. I’ll look later!! To be honest it’s been that long since playing it I can’t remember.

yeah mod nation was ok, Iv got it on vita too!! IMO u need multiplayer to make this one exciting enough, one player can get a little flat!!!

I’m no expert, however sonic transformed or normal sonic kart racer is way better, little big planet kart was ok too!!!
