Call of Duty has tweeted out a picture of what the Blackout map looks like. Blackout is the new battle royale mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Blackout is the largest battlefield in Call of Duty history, and is structured like a combination of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' Erangel and Miramar maps. The northern and western regions are covered in forests, hills, bridges, and paved roads while the east and south are rugged desert. A snaking river divides the two regions, with a large lake at one end and an ocean on the other. Nuketown Island is the only landmass in the ocean, connected to the mainland via two bridges.

Now Playing: Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4's Battle Royale Mode Beta Player Count And Map Revealed - GS News Update

Like PUBG, major landmarks and cities are prominently labeled on the map. It's at these locations that you'll probably find the best loot and other players. Collections of homes and small towns pepper the landscape between the major points. A vast majority of the larger landmarks appear on the forest half of the map, while most of the desert is dotted with singular buildings. You'll probably find better gear and more firefights in the north and west, while the east and south provide good places to hold out as other players kill one another.

The Blackout beta launches on PS4 on September 10 before also releasing on Xbox One and PC on September 14. During the beta, Blackout matches will support 80 players but that hasn't been confirmed as the final number to appear in the full game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches on October 12 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game is tackling stories in a new way this time around and ditching the traditional single-player campaign for a collection of solo stories centered around the Specialists.
