Bella Ramsey Discusses The "Big Fear" About The Last Of Us Season 2

Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie in HBO's The Last of Us, has spoken about a fear that the TV series could have a sophomore slump. Speaking to Ladbible, Ramsey said there is a "big fear" amongst the people working on the show and fans of it that Season 2 "isn't gonna be as good as Season 1."

But Ramsey said these concerns are unfounded because the right team and plan is in place to make The Last of Us Season 2 a success. "I have a lot of faith in the creators. And I think they're spectacular. So I think I think we're going to do great, I think we will top it," Ramsey said.

Also in the interview, Ramsey discussed their relationship with Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel. Joel and Ellie are the show's two main characters and the dynamic between the two is central to the series. If they didn't have chemistry or work well together, the show could suffer, but thankfully, that was not the case for Ramsey and Ellie.

"I was really worried that we wouldn't get on or we wouldn't click or something," Ramsey said. "I was like because we were going to spend this year together and then we were gonna have to do lots of press afterwards. And I was like, oh, no, I was so scared that we won't get on."

Ramsey added: "So it was a big relief. And we did in fact, get on, but we were very shy of each other to begin with. And then we started spending lots of time in like a car on set together, it bonded us for sure."

The Last of Us Season 2 will begin filming in early 2024, with Ramsey and Pascal coming back, in addition to someone who is playing Abby. The role has been cast but there is no word yet on who landed the part.

As for when Season 2 might actually premiere, HBO has said fans should not expect to see it until 2025 at the soonest. In terms of the game series, The Last of Us: Part II Remastered launches in January.
