A Batgirl movie is in development, and a new report reveals which actresses are coming in to try out for the title role. According to Deadline, executives from Warner Bros. are going to start the testing process this week for the role, and several actresses are lined up to test for the part.

According to the report, Isabela Merced (Transformers: The Last Knight), Zoey Deutch (Set It Up), and Leslie Grace (In The Heights) are scheduled to come in for a Batgirl audition. The site said Haley Lu Richardson (Five Feet Apart) has also been in the mix, "but she might have bowed out before the test process." The report also mentioned that "some have already passed" on the role before the testing part of the casting process.

Officially, the movie studio declined to comment when approached by Deadline. The movie will follow the story of Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, who is also known as Batgirl.

Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are lined up directed the Batgirl movie, which is scheduled to be released on HBO Max.

The Batgirl movie has apparently been in and out of development for several years, dating back to 2017 when it was initially announced that Joss Whedon was in talks to write and direct on the project as part of the DCEU. However, in 2018 he departed. In 2018, Bumblebee and Birds of Prey's Christina Hodson was brought on to write the script.

The next Batman universe movie is The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson in the title role. Recently, Penguin actor Colin Farrell confirmed that he's only in the movie for 5 or 6 scenes.
