The cast of the James Cameron Avatar series is seemingly reuniting soon to get back to work on the franchise. Series star Sam Worthington told People that the cast gets back to work "in a month," and he said the production will be substantial.

"It's bigger than you can imagine," he said.

Avatar 3 is already in post-production ahead of its December 2025 release date. The live-action scenes for 2029's Avatar 4 that are set before a time jump have been filmed, but the rest still needs to be completed, according to Variety.

Before this, writer-director James Cameron told People that Avatar 3 is a "much more straightforward" movie to make than The Way of Water. That's because COVID-19 and the pandemic interrupted schedules for The Way of Water, Cameron said.

The Way of Water, which was released in December 2022, earned $2.3 billion at the box office. It is the No. 3 highest-grossing movie worldwide of all time, trailing only Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion) and the 2009 original Avatar ($2.92 billion). Cameron's 1997 movie Titanic ($2.26 billion) is No. 4, which means Cameron has made three of the top four highest grossing movies of all time.

In other news, Ubisoft's Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was released in 2023 and scored pretty good reviews.
