The Anaheim Ducks will beat the Montreal Canadiens to win the 2016 Stanley Cup. That's according to an EA Sports simulation of the upcoming season performed using NHL 16. It will be a thrilling finale to the season, as the Ducks will claim victory in Game 7 of the the Stanley Cup Finals, according to the sim.

Ducks winger Corey Perry is the hero for Anaheim during the postseason, leading the pack with 23 points and taking home the Conn Smythe Trophy for being the overall playoff MVP.

Not only will the Ducks claim victory in the championship (their second in nine years), but they will also become the ninth team in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup and Presidents' Trophy in the same season. The Presidents' Trophy is awarded to the team with the best record during the regular season.

Watch the video above to see some highlights from the NHL 16 simulation, while some other stats are available in the bullet point list below, written by EA Sports. An even more in-depth breakdown of this year's simulation is available on the EA Sports blog.

This isn't a guarantee that the Ducks will win. Last year, EA's NHL 15 simulation prediction said the Ducks would win the Cup, but that did not happen. The yearly simulations are conducted using computer-controlled teams and the latest player data, including individual player ratings and line combinations, as well as things like hot streaks and injuries.

NHL 16 was released on September 15 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A "Legacy Edition" of the game was released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, featuring updated rosters and schedules.

GameSpot's NHL 16 review scored the pro hockey game an 8/10.
