A Bunch Of Steam Games Are Free For Active Duty Military, Veterans Right Now

@Robamcclellan: I am a veteran of the US Army myself. I also love that people offer things like this (as well as many of the local places, such as free meals at Golden Corral on/around Veterans Day). I am checking out that Vet Tix site as well. As for this Games to Grunts, a lot of the good stuff is sold out, but still found some pretty good stuff, such as Star Traders : Frontiers.

@Atzenkiller: I don't think OSD is a part of the military proper. It's a veteran support group. So I don't think your comment really applies. Plus, even if it were part of the military, addressing smaller scale quality-of-life issues for soldiers is still valuable, even if there are bigger systemic problems at play. Not fixing small problems because bigger ones exist is foolish; supporting veterans and soldiers with programs like this is not mutually exclusive to fixing bigger systemic problems, in other words.

@Atzenkiller: they should be concerned about giving them better housing. One of the sons of a colonel got lead poisoning from badly mantained old painting in a designated home, and now the poor kid health is in the line.

@Atzenkiller: No, the U.S. military is not concerned about having “enough video games to play” for military service members. This is an initiative that a veteran support organization is doing on their own as a thank you to people serving now and those who already served. The military didn’t ask them to do this. Don’t confuse the two.

Also, saying that this is a marketing move to recruit more people into the military is so asinine it’s almost impressive. If that were the case, they would have made it so that people signing up to join the military would get this benefit, and not people already serving or those who are veterans and already left.
