Yet I suppose that discussions behind closed-doors among a group of colleagues is any more "credible" than opening up polls to the masses who vote on their whims and fancies?

Shadow of Mordor up for game of the year.. wow. Shows it's not been the strongest of years in gaming, but I'd be lying if I said we haven't gotten a load of new great games to play in the past few weeks.

I hope South Park will win some awards... hilarious game, I loved every minute of it. Best soundtrack should go to Child of Light, in my opinion... the music was the best part of the game.

I think I just died of a heart failure in my brain.

I'm one of those people who feels the Souls series has improved with each iteration. It is basically my game of the year evey year, even when one isn't released.

I haven't played Bayonetta 2, but I played the first and did not like it. It felt so pandering, cheezy, and the premise of the game was hype itself -- hype that fell flat for me.

Most anticipated game, as if I even have to say. ...but also Witcher 3.

Best developer..... right.

Bravely Default was $40 wasted for me. I need to remind myself that nearly every JRPG in the last 10 years is basically Final Fantasy VIII in different skin. Out of all my years gaming, it is the only genre I have entirely burnt out on.

Shadows of Mordor should be filed under most surprisingly good game. It does Assassin's Creed better than Assassin's Creed.

PewDiePie wins best personality hands down... just kidding, I truly, sincerely, do not understand the appeal. I accidentally clicked on one of his videos and got through maaaaybe 30 seconds... TB, however, is awesome.

Super Smash Bros. is always fun, but I don't think it's enough to sell me on a Wii U just yet.

Twitch Pokemon was something that actually made me think and ponder, so that wins by default.

Would be criminal if Beyonetta 2 didn't win

I have a suspicion that the Developer of the Year award is not really a beneficent one.

It's more likely an "award" for a game developer which made the most news for the year - for the betterment or detriment to its reputation.

lol at the fact there's a category for "Best Remaster". Yay, it's the norm so it deserves it's own award now.
Personally, my GOTYs this year were probably Divinity: Original Sin, The Wolf Among Us (liked it more than TWD S2) and Mario Kart 8.
I'd say Smash Wii U instead of MK8 but it's not out yet (here). From this list, here's my opinion of who should win;

GOTY: Dark Souls 2 (I suppose... thought I haven't gotten around to playing Bayonetta 2 yet)
Best Indie: Shovel Knight (Go play it)
Best Narrative: TWD Season 2 (It's a continuation after all)
Best Performance: Adam Harrington as Bigby Wolf (Watch Spacey win this award just because it's Kevin Spacey)
Best Remaster: Halo: The Master Chief Collection (I'd say Pokémon, but The Master Chief Collection has FOUR GAMES)
Best Action-Adventure: Shadow of Mordor (Why is Alien: Isolation in that category?)
Best Fighting Game: Smash Bros Wii U (No doubt in my mind. I'm a huge Smash Bros fan and it takes the cake from this list)
Best Sports/Racing Game: Mario Kart 8. (Less serious to the others, but more fun imo)
Best Shooter: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Never thought I'd say that)
Best RPG: Divinity: Original Sin (but since I said DS2 will win GOTY, I guess DS2 will win this too...)
Best Family Game: Mario Kart 8 (How is Tomodachi Life a family game??)
Best Online Experience: Dark Souls 2 (It's unique online features are what make this game what it is)
Best Handheld Game: Bravely Default (Smash 3DS has awful controls)
Developer of the Year: Telltale (TWD S2, Wolf Among Us, and two more games out this year, all from one studio? Heck yes.)
Best Soundtrack: Child of Light (Transistor didn't have the same musical strength as Bastion sadly)
Games For Change: Valiant Hearts (Not sure if it deserves this award per se, but it made people FEEL SOMETHING so why not?)
eSports Stuff: Not interested. (I suppose Firebat and Newbee for winning their respected tourneys.)
Trending Gamer: Totalbiscuit gets my vote. (He keeps it real.)
Best Fan Creation: Twitch Plays Pokémon. (I loved watching and being a part of this while it lasted. 10/10 would do again.)

Bayonetta 2 doesn't deserve any awards. It is overhyped, it's the first game of its type on Nintendo consoles and that's why Nintendo fans are pushing it so hard. We have a lot of Bayonetta-type games and if it was released on PC it would've gotten an 8.0. Completely average and easy hack and slash game.
