Definately not much different from most First Person Shooters, but who needs to change something thats already good?

I'm not sure why all these people are complaining about "nothing new here" on this FPS. It may not be some revolutionary game, but it could have easily been terrible like many games are. The story, so far, has been quite entertaining, I almost got a Doom 3 feeling from some of the levels. Dark, creepy, bloody and weird things jump out at you. But this time you can have a light ON your gun! ::gasps:: Yes so now you Doom 3 haters can stop complaining. Its got popular voice actors such as David Duchovney and Marilyn Manson, with slightly good story and lines coming from your team along side of you through most of the game. As most of you know, Area-51 is the place for a "goverment cover up" where aliens crash landed in the 50's I believe. I'm not sure if I believe the rumors about the real Area 51, but this game sure makes them interesting. The graphics, with gorgeous and crisp cut scenes, some of the best ive seen lately. The actual gameplay's graphics are nothing special, they look good, things look a bit fuzzy at times, and personally, I hate the way the hand looks (of the gunman, you.), but this isnt the only game that has that look. The frame rate never seems to slow to me, but I'm no expert on all that mainly if its not extremely noticable, or happens quite often, I wont pay attention. The sound is quite nice, the guns sound pretty good, I'm not sure if I like the sound and the look of the shotgun, shotguns are usually my favorite weapon since im personally into close combat. The announcer sounds great on the multiplayer and Xbox Live portion of this game. She has a computer style voice, with an echo. The controls are alright, you'll probably need to invert the Y axis, especially if you like the style of games like Halo 2 and Doom 3. I changed the horizontal and vertical sensitivity also, I prefer to look up, down, left and right at decent speeds. The only complaint i really have about it is, you can't change the button configuration, and for some reason Midway has to always do things different. Nothing is extremely odd, just little things that bother me during extremely heavy fire fights. Now, to my favorite part of games, Multiplayer! Half the time I rarely touch the campaign part before I check out the Xbox Live portion. I was pleased with this games mulitplayer, large variety in maps, alien and human guns, good game types, quite a few actually. I was impressed. The only drawback, like with mostly all games i've played. If you join a game late, you're already way behind, I guess Halo 2 has spoiled me. I know its costs tons of money, but why can't they engineer more games to be like Halo 2? In closing, I'd like to say, if you're not an open minded FPS player, or if you're into tactacle games, you probably should just rent first. I'm still deciding if I want to buy this one personally, I took advice of others and rented first. If you do happen to have the extra money around and you like decent online games go for it, you probably wont be disappointed.
