This is certainly one of the best games available on the PS1! I was so glad I got it!
Apocalypse was one of the first ever games I played, and it set the barriers at a high standard! Obviously, as technology moves on, these older games get left behind. I was one of the people who left Apocalypse behind. I was wrong, as I later discovered when I found it in the bottom of my games cupboard. So, for old times sake, I put it in my PS2 (I still have one!) and played a good hour or two on it. From that, there were a few things I found out. 1. Apocalypse has great graphics in the cut-scenes (for those times, anyway). 2. The aiming and jumping take some practice to do accurately. 3. Some games like Driv3r don't have any better graphics than Apocalypse now! 4. That it has Bruce Willis' face and voice. And 5. It has a fantastic ending!
In Apocalypse, you play as Trey Kincaid (Bruce Willis) who is a former scientist. He was sent to a prison for committing a 'serious crime'. However, he managed to escape the prison, but, as he flees from his enemies, his arch-enemy is preparing a gruesome force of demons and putting their life-forces inside any humans who may be able to get close to Trey. Incidentally, they do and put up a big fight against Trey and his awesome weapons!
Between boss battles, you can keep yourself busy by killing a few ugly villains such as zombies, robot guards, rouge humans, and demented weirdo's!
Apocalypse has its strengths. They are:
1. Apocalypse is based in the future, which makes for some brilliant weapons and different forms of transport!
2. The cut-scenes are brilliantly detailed!
3. When Trey speaks (in the cut-scenes), his mouth is in sync with his voice, unlike some games nowadays!
4. The story is well told.
5. During the game, you will visit some very varied environments, like rooftops, sewers, prisons, and even the White House!
6. The ending is fabulous! It must be one of the best endings ever on any console!

7. The loading during the game doesn't take that long!
8. It is one of the very few games that star an actual celebrity! In this case, its Bruce Willis (from the very popular 'Die Hard' film series).
But, Apocalypse isn't perfect, because:
1. The in-game graphics isn't that great, to be honest!
2. The stuff that Trey (or Bruce Willis) comes out with is repeated again and again right throughout the game.
3. Jumping and aiming is very difficult! You have to line yourself up perfectly to be able to do them both.
4. The game is very short.
5. The boss battles aren't that challenging and involve simply shooting at them and dodging everything they try to throw at you.
6. The textures like the walls and floor don't look very good.
7. Some characters' body movements don't seem to match what they are saying.
8. Sometimes, phrases can be said with no meaning, feeling, or emphasis whatsoever!
