Know your role and play this game. An essential purchase!
The first SmackDown! game was an average game, to be fair. So, after SmackDown!, SmackDown! 2 was a breath of fresh air. Everything was better: The graphics were, to a degree, better, but the sound stayed the same. But this is nowhere more evident than in the Create-A-Modes. In Create-A-Superstar, you had such freedom. In SD!, the C-A-S mode was very poor, all you did was select a head, upper and lower body part, and give your Superstar a finisher like a Suplex, as you weren't allowed use the WWF wrestlers finishers. In SD!2, you could choose their eyebrows, hair, piercing's, underwear shape, and socks among other things, and edit their colour, size and occasionally transparency to a tee. When it was time to decide their wrestling moves, it got even better, as you could pick loads of different ones, from punch combo's to off-the-turnbuckle moves, and a finisher of your choosing. Other C-A-Ms were Create-A-Pay-Per-View, were you can create an eight match PPV, and get crowd ratings for them. The other modes are Create-A-Manager, were you can assign a wrestler to be your manager, and Create-A-Stable, were you can form a tag team, or become a member of an already formed one.
I have a really soft spot for the Season mode too. The difference between the one on SD! and SD!2, is that SD!2's one has a slight structure to it. You can challenge title holders, be in rivalries, interfere in matches, and even break up stables, not to mention the "Unknown" superstars that the PS would randomly make, and get them to injure your opponent for your match. This is a good thing though, as this would change a boring singles affair with Al Snow int o TLC thriller with the other superstar.
This game offers you hours of entertainment, and some of the best gameplay and graphics on the PSone. A classic game!
