While new Worms fans will have a blast with this game, long-time fans may have a harder time enjoying it.

For $10, which is how much I got it for, this game is a decent deal. It's in high-definition and the visuals are crisp. Although this is a fun game, there are a few issues I have with it, but I'll get to those in a bit.

The object of Worms is to destroy all the opposing worms using the weapons you start with, while acquiring Weapon, Health, and Tool kits through the match. In this iteration of Worms, you have all the basic weapons: Bazookas, grenades, the infamous sheep, and others. Team 17 took out some of the more damaging weapons like the Holy Hand Grenade and Super Sheep for balance reasons. They didn't want new players to have a hard time playing online, so they stuck to the basics. Roping has even been "handicapped", meaning you can't use your gravity tricks to get over unjumpable ledges. Balance is nice, but it's still slightly disappointing that you're unable to use the others weapons in high-definition glory.

The sound could be better. The music is mostly mundane and there's only one musical score that plays in the background. The music from the actual Worms matches and the menu are exactly the same, and sometimes the music even carries from the match into the menu! Also, after one of the background music finishes playing in the background, there's about a minute of silence, for one reason or another. Then the same old music starts back up again. It's annoying that there's only one music that repeats itself throughout the entire game!

The control of the worms is also a bit lacking. Those who have played some Worms games in the past know the worms are supposed to move kinda fast, but in this one they literally crawl like real worms. It's hard to adjust, but after an hour, you'll get used to it. Also, when you press the jump button, they take a second to squat, THEN jump. It's pretty annoying, especially when trying to jump out of the way of an explosion.

The thing that urks me the most about this game is jumping backwards onto a ledge. Every Worms enthusiast knows this is vital to survival, but it's slightly flawed in this game. When trying to jump on the very point of an object, let it be land or one of the random objects in the area, the worms sometimes actually BOUNCE off the edge and land back where they were, or even farther down, thus causing damage and therefore losing your turn. I have never played a Worms game where you bounce off the edge of an object when trying to jump onto it! It's highly annoying and you have to be very precise when executing such a jump.

Even with it's flaws, it's still a decent game and is fun, especially while playing with a few friends. Worth a buy if your just now entering into the wonderful world of Worms, but you may want to pick up Worms: Open Warfare 2 for the DS if you're looking for a very deep, perfect version on Worms.
