As an extremely addictive game it is, Worms are reincarnated just the way we loved them in the 1990's.
I somewhat never got into all those highly sophisticated motion-sensor controlled 3D games for my little device. It's fun to play them for a while, indeed, but what really gets me are simple and easy to play, though still challenging games which I can play anyplace anytime without looking like an idiot. In some environments, e.g. train or bus, it's almost impossible to control games via motion-sensor. And here it comes for simple games like Worms to step in and make me entertained for a while.
This particular release of Worms offers us with combination of all we loved back then - cartoonish 2D graphics, funny voices, highly addictive gameplay and all those incredible gadgets like jetpack, holy handgrenade, sheep or bungee rope. It gives us something more than Worms 2, yet still not all that Worms Armageddon offered.
Simplistic, yet still very effective control system, takes some time to accommodate to, but once mastered you'll have countless hours of entertainment in your hands. AI of the opponents is surprisingly well balanced. Challenges are continuously more challenging, changing various teams with strategies of their own. There are three difficulty options to choose from in the Quick game menu. All of them is challenging enough to put even a very skilled player in some difficult situations.
On the other hand, gameplay gets a bit predictable after time when you get to know the strategies of all the battling teams. Most environments are alike, but that's nothing much to complain about.
After all, Worms for iPhone is definitely one of the must-gets you should play. Highly addictive gameplay with great replay value, which can keep you entertained for few minutes whilst waiting for the bus or even for few hours when there is nothing much to do on a long travel by a train, makes this game worth having.
I give it 9.5 of 10, cause it's a very good port of the game I loved which I can now enjoy anywhere anytime.
