World in Conflict is top-notch, a fantastic RTS game that almost anyone will enjoy.

A very entertaining, addictive and realistic package, there is no doubt that World in Conflict is a truly fantastic game. Stereotypical views of RTS much revolve around sending people to mine ores or gather wood, then building bases and defending them from enemies. Yet World in Conflict completely re-defines the meaning of RTS, and instead you are dropped right into the core of the action.

World in Conflict's gameplay is very simple, yet surprisingly packs a very unique charm that is hard to get rid of. The picturesque landscapes, clear textures of tanks and vehicles, the physics incorporated into artillery and the satisfying explosions of carpet bombing combine to form only a section of one's addiction to the game.

Taking place in the U.S and Europe, World in Conflict's alternate-history story-line and mission locations do a lot to add to the addiction. Who wouldn't want to blow up the Statue of Liberty with a 7-ton Daisy Cutter? The story-line is really memorable, and really makes World in Conflict seem a very realistic game that has its connections to the real world. After all, such a WWIII story-line is possible and almost did happen.

Furthermore concentrating on the positive's of the game, the strategic command points scattered around multiplayer-maps and single-player missions set goals for the player. Along with the occasional times secondary objectives and highly competitive tug-of-war, assault and domination multiplayer game modes, World in Conflict can indeed have a sense of competition in it.

What really makes this game special is the graphics. The water texture is perfect. One can zoom the camera right to the ground, anywhere in the huge maps, and see individual grass stems, weeds and rocks; and then zoom out and see an overview of the huge battle.

Another positive is the tactical aid, which does a lot to make World in Conflict multiplayer seem like it is a real WWIII battle. Also, the mushroom cloud in the Tactical Nuke is arguably the best around. There isn't much to comment on as far as negatives go.

Almost anybody would find themselves at home with this game. If you are a fan of RTS, you really cannot go wrong with World in Conflict. If you are not a fan of RTS, I encourage you to pick up this game and give it a go.

World in Conflict, apart from its occasional rare glitches, is a spectacular, realistic game with top-notch graphics, explosions and weapon effects. Just playing the game makes you feel as if you are a part of the battle. Congratulations Sierra and Massive Entertainment; what a wonderful game.
