Watch Dogs feels a bit like Grand Theft Auto but different enough to still be unique and original

User Rating: 8 | Watch Dogs PS4

I picked up watch dogs on a whim and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed, although there are quite a great deal of similarities between this game and other games like Grand Theft Auto and Assassin’s Creed.

Story: 6.5/10

Although the story of Watch Dogs is nothing phenomenal, it is interesting enough to keep you playing and does take a few twists at good moments, although certain parts of it seem to drag on too long.

Score: 8/10

This is a bit difficult to rate, since a lot of the background music is really good and adds a lot more intensity to the game, but things like the songs that can be listened to on your phone or car radio really lack. There’s roughly 40 songs, spread thin throughout various genres so it’s more than likely that you’ll be hearing the same songs (most of which aren’t very good) to the point where it gets annoying.

Characters/ Character Development: 7/10

Aiden Pearce’s outfit makes him look cool and menacing for a modern day vigilante, but his personality lacks. We don’t get much more from him other than the fact that he wants revenge against the people who killed his niece. It’s not that Aiden is a bad character, it’s just we don’t get enough emotion from him to seem believable. Luckily, the support characters provide insight and enough emotion to fill in what Aiden lacks.

Graphics 8.75/10

The graphics look very stunning for this game and are on par with the ps4/xbox one high definition that we except, although nothing provides a wow factor.

Gameplay: 9.5/10

A massive open world gives you a ton of things to do as far as side-quests and mini-games are concerned. Even things such as the digital trips, although silly and wacky, still allow you to have a great time playing them. The game also has a subtle karmic status, allowing you to be loved or hated depending on the actions you take. Cars and motorcycles are available at will after purchasing them allowing you to always have your favorite ride at your disposal. Tools like hacking into cameras allowing you to analyze how to get through a guarded area while still giving you the choice to go in guns-a-blazing. The gameplay alone is worth the purchase on this game.

Difficulty 4/10 (0 being the easiest, 10 being the hardest)

The game can provides some challenges at times, but nothing that can’t be beaten after knowing what to do.

Fun: 8.5/10

Running around Chicago with your phone really gives you good access to everything and allows you to control your environment quite nicely, which is a good deal of fun. With so many things at your disposal you can truly play your own way, wither that be a stealthy or steadfast choice for overcoming enemies. It will certainly keep your entertained throughout the game.
