Really good single player campaign. Will leave you asking for more.

This review is for the single-player mode, not the multi-player (cuz my internet service is horrible).

I bought and started playing this game before playing the first Dawn of War game. After buying and then playing the first, I'd say this game blows the first one away, at least for the single-player version. The first is very much an RTS game. Gather resources, build bases and units, and destroy the enemy. The single-player game in Dawn of War II is such a refreshing innovation over the standard RTS fare.

For Dawn of War II, you don't get resources and bases. Instead, you get persistent characters who you can level up and equip with different and better equipment. You can specialize your characters to be melee and/or ranged combatants. The game also provides numerous accessories that you can use in your missions, like grenades and explosives. There are a few other accessories to be found in the game.

The game isn't a cake walk by any means. One wrong move and you can find a unit cut off and surrounded and you can find your mission ending really quick because you messed it up. And I've only played the base difficulty. I can only imagine playing the higher difficulties.

I will be on the lookout for the expansion pack coming out soon. It supposedly will raise the level cap to 30 and should offer even more missions and equipment.
