That is awesome about your PS4. I am having that same experience with my XBox One. I can't wait to get home to play with it. Yay video games! :-)
I bought the 360 shortly after launch and shied away from the PS3. I owned a Dreamcast, N64, NES etc. And enjoyed all those consoles. But the 360 was the system that a year after owning it, I was still in love with it. I bought the PS3 a little over a year ago because of the price and the exclusive titles. I absolutely love it. my 360 doesn't have wirless and the adapter costs an arm and a leg while the PS3 I own is power on you got your online. Netflix is another boost. I still play my 360, only not as much, and with so many titles (Little Big Planet 2, Infamous 2, Gears of War 3, Resistance 3 etc. not to mention so many xbl and psn titles) I have more games than i can handle in the foreseeable future all probably great and all for dirt cheap. I mean I bought Resistance 1 for 4 bucks and LOVED it, it's dated but fun was fun as hell. I'll most likely own both the PS4 and XBOX1 but will wait till there are tons of games, but most likely will get the PS4 first. This truly is a great time to be a gamer. Shit I may even pick up a cheap Wii for some of it's classics now that it's cheap.
people should just keep their opinions to themselves, clearly so many people here cannot be objective. just a bunch of whining about how people think and feel about their decisions.
to those who are objective... i just... i feel sorry for this website sometimes. great stuff.... horrible blithering idiocy follows, though. i don't get it. i can't conceive why, other then people are stupid. i wish i wasn't so cynical but whoa... so many retarded half witted statements.
just positive comments people, so you DON'T LOOK STUPID and make us gamers look stupid. please. just try.
I still can't get over that 60 FPS of the PS4 videos! It feels so good! I don't understand why my PC never deliver that smoothness even though the FPS is telling I am running at stable 60 frames.
Some much bias ms fans have to beleive xbone 720p graphics wont matter or there battery controllers are better or smart tv functions worth 720p. I will have titanfall march but will make no mistake n beleiving game crossovers wont look n run better on ps4. I wonder if yall paid 2 spew ignorance am i only one seeing the mass xbone haters cry ideas or delusions of grandgure.graphics do make better games knowledge is truth no paid brats
Per usually - great segment. My shelves are full of green boxes (Xbox 360) rather than PS3 boxes. So I had a similar experience game wise as you. However, since my wife has learned about PS3's Netflix, Hulu and YouTube channels, we turn on the PS3 more than the Xbox 360, which I didn't expect to happen. I haven't bought a new system yet but I was definitely leaning towards PS4 but I'll wait till your review of Xbox One first.
PS. I've always liked Xbox controllers better than PlayStation's, but in the end its all about the games to me. Console wars be damned.
Danny, your last gen experience is the exact mirror of mine. I don't take sides, but my PS3 was off for months at a time too and then would become my focus for a few weeks when something amazing and exclusive popped up before going back to sleep again. I think it's the only machine I've actually turned off, rather than leaving on standby because of the minimal use it got. I did sometimes randomly boot it up to top up on system updates though, as the thought of waiting for those when I'd just come home with one of those rare exclusive gems was annoying. I will be starting this gen on Sony and, to be honest, if you'd asked me if that was the case through most of the past 8 years, I'd have said no chance.
The main gripe I've always had with PS is the design of the pads. Lets be honest here. They're shit.
Alright i got a ps4 days ago and i absolutely adore it, you speak my mind Danny i 100% agree, the UI is gorgeous and simple, i liked KZ it's a great game that could have been better, i mostly play AC IV and other third party games.
I just really REALLY can't wait for the future just want to put my hands on Infamous, the order and Uncharted 4!
The XMB was super simple. It's just Left-Right,Up-Down. If you don't understand that I can't help you.
Um i got a question, why are the Sony stocks falling since launch, yet Nintendo and Microsofts keep on rising?
First time watching The Point...well guess this and Reality Check will be the two reasons I still come back to Gamespot. Good vid, I agree 100% on really everything. Being a PC gamer and buying the consoles for the guilty pleasure of couch gaming has been a good battle in my years.
I love Sony since the first PS1 bought back in the day on to the next 3 as well. PS3 was a love hate relationship because my friends and I would always be gaming on the 360 just because of the more games on the system also that is where the community was. It wasn't till I picked up the Uncharted games where I fully understood why I had a PS3 in the first place.
I will buy an xbox one sometime in the future where they can show me why I must own one. Right now my needs are met and continually hope that MS has a few tricks up their sleeves (mainly games) to really pull me in. I just wish both consoles had more to offer game wise, yes we have plenty of games to play but nothing that grabs me as of yet. Here's to hoping something will come along and derail everything to make console gaming really shine! Until then game on brother!
Let me sum this up for everyone. Sony has done such a great job with this console that even without having bought a single game for it yet, I'm still enjoying the hell out of it. I'm pretty sure I've never been able to say that about another console before.
in all honesty I watched the livestream for the xbone revealing and was open to getting one if ms actually either maintained or surprised. What a let down, felt like an old uncle stabbing my girlfriend in the back. I hope they really loose this new war.
1. I'm really glad you like your new PS4 Danny. I almost felt your enjoyment through the video. Killzone does seem to have pretty cool graphics.
2. Your show really made me want to buy a slick, fast, new ... gaming PC.
3. I really hate the new Gamespot design. I feel like it is very important to put this in my every comment. Even though its not that new any more. I just can't get used to it. I really, really hate it.
I am mainly a PC gamer. Almost all xbox one games will be on PC so no point in it plus xbox 360 was sort of the same. I played a few games on Xbox 360 but i havent touched it in a few years now. As for the Ps4... there isn't a single game coming out exclusivly for it yet. Add in the Ps4 Controllers use with PC and even those RPGs and what not that just work better with a gamepad and even less of a reason to get a Ps4 till it gets exclusives.
Thanks for not having a Bias opinion on things. It's better to get these kinds of reviews from people who game on more than just one console or entertainment system for that matter.
Very nice video! It is more helpful getting an objective description of peoples' feelings concerning a system than a raw specs comparison. Nice job, thanks.
Great video. I agree with everything he said. Im really enjoying my Ps4 as well. Been playing need for speed like crazy. For the past couple of year I been mostly playing my PC but, as soon as I got my PS4 I been spending more time on console in several years.
Great vid. Even though I'm a PC-exclusive gamer, you made me want to go try a PS4 once some games come out that fully utilize the technology.
If you want good graphics, just buy a PC. It is graphically superior in every possible way.
It is more expensive to get a PC at first, but the games are cheaper, in the long run it evens out. (You can get most triple A games for under 10 dollars after a while) In the end you just get a better experience on PC for the same money....
(And if you must, you can use your console controller on PC and connect is to a tv)
I find it funny that we had the same experience with the 360 and PS3. The PS3 was only used for blu ray and exclusives. I felt it was seriously plagued with problems.
My friend got the PS4 on launch, and it's been pretty sweet so far. It has crashed a few times tho. I think my biggest gripe is all the issues around BF4, that game is just SO buggy and broken it's depressing. I mean I don't think conquest mode is even available yet, and it's constantly booting him out of games, not to mention it completely deleted his single player progress so he had to start again. Also there is no partying up before a game so playing with friends is even harder than it was with BF3. Why they can't emulate COD's formula in this way I have no idea. Also, speaking of COD, the split-screen mode now requires the second person to sign into PSN, so playing with friends is harder than before.
@snape4007 Who are you??
@lil_ze76 You mean they're awesome? Because I agree with that.
@Helios_Sun I haven't been following the news very closely on Sony's stocks. This isn't something that surprises me though. After all that negativity on the XBox One so long ago, people probably went out and moved their stocks to Sony. Essentially, this makes the stock over-bloated and overvalued. It is possible that the stocks are simply returning to their true values.
@obsequies what a weird family you have sir
Uncharted, last of us, infamous second son, order 1886, driveclub. There are exclusives for ps4. And this isnt all of them
@korn7809 you are right but don't neglect PS4 because naughty dog enough is the reason to buy PS4 with all 12 sony studios.you will never regret buying a PS4.
@GT_APE you should try you ....it worh your single penny.
@wa128 that is not true, you spend more money in a pc then a console. And now the gaming experience is not that diferent from the pc right now with the new consoles, is the same or even better.
@sagejonathan I preordered mine AND just built a new rig like danny, guess which one im playing more :D
@nameaprice Oh dear, it was an adult oriented conversation until the young troll pops up...
@ck10304 im have the same problems with the PC version too though, cant really blame PS4 for that :-/
@endgame0522 The problem is I was never into games like Uncharted, Last of Us is on ps3, I lost intrest in Infamous after the first 2, Order 1886 might be good but I don't know if it will be much more then another shooter & I don't much like driving games. Dynasty Warriors and FF 15 will probably be my first Ps4 games but those aren't till at least next year.
@coolguyhero @korn7809 Fear not! I know that I WILL get a Ps4. I already know some games that will come out for Ps4 but not PC. Dynasty Warriors, Final Fantasy just about any NISA game (lets not forget Star Ocean!.. if they make another). But untill those games start being released I can do with my Ps3.
@WillyWynn @wa128 Not necessarily. You spend more money *up front* but games are so cheap on PC that it evens out. In the 6 or 7 years I had my xbox 360 I racked up *maybe* 30 or 40 games (including original xbox games). In the less than a year that I've had my PC I've got:
247 steam games.
46 Games in my "GOG et al." folder.
4 Games on Origin
10 Games installed elsewhere.
That's nearly 10 times the games I had for 360. I have that many because games are unbelievably cheap. With things like the humble bundle, I've got leftover copies of games that I'll never install (no you can't have them). With Steam's ridiculous sales, I just don't buy games anymore unless they're less under 10 dollars. I've only paid more than $20 for two games. Heck, I've got a couple games in my amazon wish list that I'm waiting tip they drop under 5 dollars.
Long story short: if you buy lots of games, and can afford to pay upfront, there's no better bang for your buck than PC.
@WillyWynn @wa128 Wa128 does have a point in the long-run pc gaming seems less expensive... Provided you can drop a fair sum on the computer itself in the first place (which anyone who's grabbing two consoles or willing to sacrifice their console plus their games and some cash) and as long as you ascribe yourself to the restrictions of steam or similar platforms.
However there are at the same time DRM-free pc game distribution platforms as well (GOG) and if you are into the whole free to play thing that's become such a large/relevant sphere of gaming PC has a great deal more good f2p games.
On the flip-side consoles start out inexpensive and looking for deals means it is possible (though not as readily with the competition from steam sales) to match PC deals (Max Payne 3 for a mere 15 or fewer bucks and so many more games in bargain bins/recycled). Furthermore PS+ offer's "free unlimited rentals" (not what I consider to be true ownership though).
Both console platforms and PC are actively competing to corner the indie market but PC currently has the edge and this has more to do with the shear volume of PC indie titles rather than quality alone (though PC does put out more exclusive superstar indie titles)...
What is certainly the case is that console indie titles do get support in terms of having greater saliency within gaming media... Consider star-forge vs the likes of resogun! If resogun did come out for PC it is possible that it may have been more marginalized than if it were on a console (esp. a console at launch).
With regards to the triple A market PC certainly tends to receive the shaft in terms of DRM (Diablo 3/AC2/Sim City at launch) but this has more to do with the fact that devs cannot punish PC piracy as stringently as console piracy. MS answer to a flashed console? Instant ban (account maybe console and no warranty for you no mo)! PC dev's answer? Plz insert disk/connect to "x network" for "exclusive access to game content"... Or wait for a working crack >:)!
Also PC/Console people that last comment does not justify piracy on either system or make it apparent which one has more to do with reasons for games being exclusive to either family of devices...
I dunno I pretty much had free time for once?
That's all well & good but there are plenty of games that never make it to PC which makes owning a console preferable to many people. For me the fact that Destiny is console only is a good enough reason to buy a PS4 instead of a PC.
