The Point - Games for a Boring January
There aren't many games coming out this month, so here are some ideas on how to keep yourself occupied in the meantime.

Haven't finished last years games. Occupied already completing rpg games
My firm faizibr91 passed Nazeq.org evaluation
If i ever stop being lazy when it comes to gaming...ill give my PS4 a break and plug my PS3 back in...I should get back into Ni No Kuni and beat it since (SPOILERS FOLLOW) i only got to the part where all the citizens get turned into zombies. Or maybe finally dedicate myself to Valkyria Chronicles. Who knows Ill probably end up doing none of that and play 2K14 instead...oh well.
Well this is often the case but that is why we just need to play the games that either we recently got or was previously released.
I don't get GS why sensor some swear words and not others in some series like feedbakula and in this there where none edited at all in this. :P
My five I'm going to catch up on is:
1. Sly Cooper 3
2. Far Cry 3 (maybe some Blood Dragon too since it's 3.75 on PSN Store)
3. Batman Arkham Origins
4. Spiderman 2 for the Gamecube
5. Tony Hawk's Underground 2 also for the Gamecube
I'm a classy gamer what can I say
Well, my main power source started getting stinky, so i had to use the backup until i can afford to buy a new one. Unfortunately the backup isn't strong enough to handle my current configuration, so i had to give the video card a break and go integrated for a while.
This mean no new(er) games for me, so i'm sticking to old-school this month or until whenever i scrounge up enough money....
I got Wizardry 8 and the Eschalon Books to keep me company for now, got the Fallout Merry X-Mas gift from GoG if i go in overtime and the game that hasn't left my PC since 2003, Heroes of Might and Magic III.
I disagree that January is boring. Nidhogg, Secrets of Raetikon, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Not The Robots, Broken Age (for backers at least).
Unless if you consider new releases = AAA. Which is a pretty narrow viewpoint these days.
Excellent vid, laughs were had. My recommendations are AC IV, Just Cause 2 (preferably PC for the god-tier multiplayer mod), Star Wars Battlefront II (still kicks ass) and Metal Gear Rising.
Valdis Story - crazy awesome game that not many people are playing right now. huge replay value and some of the best boss fights I have seen in a long time. Go buy it and forget where the nights went like I did.
Never been bothered by "droughts" since I tend to buy games faster than I can complete them, and keep in mind I'm someone who usually buys no more than 2 new games a month (it's usually 1 new game every 2 months). Been playing through the Ace Attorney series (on the 3rd entry so far), Pokemon X, The Wonderful 101 and Megaman X (memories). When I'm done with The Wonderful 101, I'll start up another JRPG on my PS3 (Valkryia Chronicles or Ni No Kuni?) and when I'm done with this entry of Ace Attorney, I'll finally continue A Link Between Worlds (while waiting for the next Ace Attorney to come in through the mail).
I also love how Danny highlighted Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament. I still have Quake 3 Arena on my Dreamcast and I love telling kids who obsess over shooters how FPS games used to be and watch their eyes light up, then realize they basically have nothing like that now.
O'Dwyer! Loved the video. Thanks for the laughs.
Gamespot- Please replace all Carolyn Petit work with Danny O'Dwyer work. Thanks.
;p I take lil offense about "No One Bought Surface Tablet" comment I just watched/commenting from Surface 2 right now. >.> PLUS it best SNES/NES/Gameboy Advance emulator ever ;3 with Xbox 360 Controller.
Also my plan is to beat Zelda Link Between Worlds before Brave Default comes out next month.
Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2 and Lego Marvel Super Heros! Gotta love stocking up on the Steam Sale!
UT and Half Life still sit on top of the fun gaming pile.
Must reinstall all my UT versions as well.
Those games are the best.
I've forgotten how good they were while staying current with todays trends LMAO.
I really enjoyed Deus Ex Human Revolution.
It didn't have killer graphics but the atmosphere created did the old Deus Ex game justice.
The Games makes me crazy but this one http://bit.ly/19qugfn
Danny, you totally need to start playing Dark Souls. And when you do, Twitch stream that b*tch. I will so be there.
I always find my self re-installing Quake 3. I played the crap out of Daemons Souls, I've had Dark Souls sitting here on my shelf for half a year because I know how much time it takes to play from start to finnish. Dark Souls, Desktop Dungeons & Catherine are what I'm going to play during this ' dead space ' of games. :)
i played Unreal Tournament99, then DeusEx, now Dark Soul in the last 2-3 weeks.
Played a lot WiiU before, there are great games, much better then PS4/X1
Metal Gear Risinghas been released for PC, but i already know it ;-) its not that bad, but not a classic like the games above.
Games like Unreal Tournament make every single Cod,BF or whatever like this game a bad joke. its all multiplayer but the best kickass multiplayer is for sure UNREAL TOURNAMENT.
To much games are comin out in March, i will simply have no time to play them all, Dark Souls II will take a few hundres of hours to play and NOTHING in that time could compete with Dark Souls, simply nothing.
@ Danny O'Dwyer very nice you excactly mentioned the games i am playin now.
But i need to say Dark Souls isnt hard at all - you can make a "Winner" Char in just one day and there are a lot of easy ways to play through, i just play hard ways to have best lowlvl chars with great equipment like Moonlight Greatsword based char.
IF you really want to get into the game, make sure to have the time, i played it last sommer for straigt 3-4 mounths and houndreds or maybe thousends of hours
I dont know what you think about Deus Ex, but i think its one of the best games ever and the new by eidos montreal is a bad peace of gaming, its running bad on PCs, it doenst look good at all, the gameplay is boring and to much like other games, as you said it diesnt have much to do with the old classic Deus Ex.
Btw DEUS EX (the first) looks great with new vision texture pack, directx10 and hdtp objectpack.
the game have one of the best gameplays ever created, even with stupid Ai.
Thief was good, but nothing special for me, i played it and i owned it (even bought an import version of it) but the game athmosphere killed the game for me.
There will never be a deus ex game like the first, but maybe a new thief could even be a bit better, i always thought about a new thief in modern vision, i hope they wont ruin the the new thief like they did with new Deus Ex (reminds me on Max Payne 3, great production values or a lot time dont make a game any better)
Thief could be a good game for todays standards, there are a lot games today that are not far away from thief and the first games really could need more action.
If you don't have a backlog of games to keep you busy through January and beyond then you aren't REAL gamer. :P
This article must be about how boring the PS4 is. No games to play on the piece of crap. X1 for the win.
I'm actually just playing Magic: The gathering (real life version), and catching up on some programming for projects that I've been working on for a while. Once I'm done with them I'll work on my backlog, which I'm already working on between programming sessions. Then Titanfall will be out. I'm unfortunately putting a lot of eggs in that basket...It needs to keep me entertained for a long time. :D
What I am playing?
Wasting my life with my super-amazing modded Skyrim. That's looking really great btw.
um... still trying to finish Final Fantasy XIII-2 before Lightning Return comes.
Going to play Metal Gear Solid HD collection - but I need to own it first lol - before getting Ground Zeroes.
Ni-No-Kuni and The Last of Us are still sitting in my shelf. Yeah - brand new. It's time I play them..
Waiting for my Beyond Two Souls that was lost during shipment to Israel and now is late for a month.
What else... thinking about this Brothers game on steam.
Buy and play Devil May Cry 4 on PC, and Vanquish for the PS3: Why? because they are old by now, and they still look better than some 80% of games to date! they are both amazing fun games. Especially Vanquish - for those who haven't tried it yet, it's a real gem. A must. My favorite 3rd Person Action Game ever.
Back to you Danny ;)
I bought a Wii U with Windwaker, Mario 3D,and Monster Hunter. I personally have more fun with the WII U system then I have with the Xbox One and my PS4
Dues Ex Human Revolution Directors cut Wii U is what i'm playing, along with Rayman Legends and Zelda: The Wind Waker and PS4's Don't Starve
I'm gonna try and get through Puppeteer and Witcher 2.
I recently finished Assassins Creed 4, Zelda Link to the Past, Mario 3D World, Ratchet Nexus and Tearaway. I'd recommend all of them if you're looking for something to play. Mario 3D World isn't as good as a lot of the critics are saying but it's still worth playing
theres a bazillion games im pretty happy playing in the mean time. X-COM is epic. Ive just bought a ton of older games on STEAM liek the original ghost recon, the original rainbow 6, so im happy.
Hmm...I have around 70 indie and (mostly) older games installed on my PC for exactly this purpose. Maybe I'll even finish Skyrim or Deus Ex: HR on my 360....or not. I have too much fun doing my own thing in games that allow it to actually "beat" them and add them to some list of personal conquests.
I also have a buddy who keeps invitimg me to different MMOs--the freemium kind. My only real issue with this is that he seems to prefer the games that offer the least amount of flavor. Nothing wrong with vanilla, but I like to change it up a bit. They're good for killing a few hours before you remember that there are better ways to get your grind on...like PoE or Torchlight II....hell, even Borderlands 2--minus the overpriced DLC of course.
I'll be having fun finding the other endings to Dead Rising 3 and checking out some indie games on Steam.
@semipsycoticLoved the demo of it a while back, nice to hear it's getting good word of mouth.
@AzernusBut she doesn't do any video content. Or did you just want to act like a tw@t?
@AdrianWrz one of these days ill finish zelda,... sadly i am becoming more of a "watch someone else play" kinda guy.
@Frenchman081 Dark Souls is only enjoyable if you have no life. it's a good game, I just wish I had more time to play it.
@Nauticshadow buy Pikmin3 its the yet biggest and i would say best WiiU game yet.
@x-2tha-z Mario 3D World is a great game, best played with friends and family.
@digi_matrix Well technically Petit does do video content but I understand what you're trying to say. And yes, I suppose you could say I am being a "Tw@t". I don't like people who are bad at their job and it's even worse when I can't tell if it is a male or female. I guess its a female?
On the plus side Danny O'Dwyer is good at what he does. This video is well done. Well written, delivered and edited. I'll give credit to good work and be a "Tw@t" toward bad work.
