The Gist - 5 Awesome Gifts For Gamers
Jess delivers some practical (and eccentric) suggestions on what to buy that awesome gamer in your life! Or, conversely, what to throw on your own wishlist.

A Link Between Worlds was way better than I originally expected, and probably one of my top Zelda games now.
Can't have a hard game list without Battletoads. GS awesome for the include. Many a broken/thrown controllers over that one and never beat :(
Holy crap, Jess is just eight days older than me! As for my BD list, I don't have many games on there. It's mostly music I'm after this year.
Happy Birthday Jess!!! As for my birthday i would like to have some PS4 games! my system is lacking in it.
Holy Gamertopolis Jess! You're only 23, makes feel old, sad, can not compute :'( , But Happy Birthday all the same; Cheers :D
Wooo, I got me's old guy blues.
I liked #5 (any weapon that doesn't feel cheap, haven't played Mass Effect though), #2 (I wouldn't... spend my... own money on it...), and #1. I would put them on my list as well, though perhaps not in that order. If "top-of-the-line gaming PC" seems a tad unrealistic, the only other two I could think of would be older consoles reconfigured into handheld units (N64 or GameCube, I have a RDP) or a good set of speakers for my TV (nothing overwhelming like a home theater though).

. . . And many more, better than before.
A gentleman always remembers a woman's birthday, but never her age.
happy birthday Jess!!!!!........god i am 20yr older than you witch my 12yr old JUST gleefully pointed out.....thanks............
Now I know I've gotten too tired. I was trying to read Jess's shirt and thought the black outline of the letters was Arabic script.
I just bought a used 3DS online like 2 hours ago. I never go anywhere so not sure why I wanted portable gaming :). I guess hearing about how awesome the new Zelda pushed me to try it. I'm also interested in some of those unusual Japanese games, but if these games were ported to WiiU it's almost certain I would never even consider a 3DS.
Already second guessing though, I should have got an XL. Oh well. Ah, why do I keep buying consoles??? I'm really a PC gamer :). I just wrote a friggin comment a few days ago about how I buy consoles and then barely play them.
For my birthday this year my girlfriend gave me 3 laps around a race track in my choice of a Ferrari of Lamborghini. She chose this gift, I expect, because I was going on and on about how great racing in Forza was.
That's a gaming related gift, right? Well it was thoughtful and exciting either way. :)
Jess all the still shots in vid links you have exact carbon copy smile but with diff angles! It's driving me mad. Show some teeth, vary your facial expression for the love of gawd!
Happy Birthday and as a fellow golden 3DS owner, it really was an awesome gift... now for that Ocarina!
Ah, so Jess is an Aquarius! Which means you're probably really goofy just like the rest of my family (most of them are Aquarius). In a likeable way, of course :)
*plays "Aquarius - Let The Sunshine In*
Happy birthday Jess :)
I think action figures can be really nice gifts too, albeit some can be a bit expensive. It is somehow a toy, that you can pretend it isn't a toy XD
I agree on handhelds, I once bought my little sister a PSP and she was very happy with it :) she still keeps it. I also bought her a Lee Chaolan action figure :P his leg is broken now though u_u
1. Time (Book out time solely to get together in a online game with as many friends as possible like a virtual birthday party or go out IRL and do something strange that the birthday hero would like to do even if you disliked it. For example LARP)
2. A good game of disliked genre (A gamer might dislike and avoid completely some game genres but you can turn it around by choosing the present with your experience and deep thought. For example gamers avoiding shooters might like The Mass Effect games)
3. Book or comic behind the game (It doesn't always come to mind that after finishing a good game there is still the book the game is based on and reading it might enrichen the experience of the game world. For example Dune and witcher)
4. Cook up something from the favorite game (The familiar appearence is more important than the taste. For example Nuka-Cola Quantum from Fallout 3 or a Minecraft Cake)
5. That zombie apocalypse survival kit was awesome <3 (The one getting the gift would become either very happy or armed and dangerous)
Hmm I never thought about it much but i think in the end, the best gifts for a gamer would probably be either, games, or collectors edition stuff of their already loved games and franchises, perhaps merchandise.
Also, I like seeing all the happy birthday wishes in the comments, its been a long way since a lot of things you could read in Jess's videos were trolling, disrespect cause the host is a girl, etc.
Happy birthday Jess! You're half a year younger than me and already, like, an online celerity. That's impressive, seeing as I'm going nowhere with my life :D
As for the gift part,
A friend of mine has a Portal gun that makes blue/orange circles of light. Sure it does nothing except look cool but that really is fucking awesome.
Also, not entirely videogame related, but I wish someone would buy me a Sonic Screwdriver.
this episode is brought to you by hundreds of comments wishing jess a happy birthday :P
(sorry, no matter how much you tell me you want those things, i'm not mailing to australia. i see through your ruse, jess!)
23? How the hell are you the face of videogames.com at 23!? Did you go to Uni or straight into work? Because success.
Best video game gift is a tattoo, I have a Pac Man "chase scene" and I want a 1-up mushroom.
Also Hyrule Historia and a model Metal Gear Ray please.
@RoachRush no you need to check your zodiac she is the fish
@wgerardi I don't know about dumb but I certainly wasn't a well known and loved internet somewhat celebrity. Over a decade later, I'm still not :).
@bsford Lad. It has WAY more games on it right now than both next gens combined. Think before you speak.
@jonny_dutch I went to uni =] started this job while I was in my last year there! Tattoo sounds rad!
@suppaphly42 Oh snaps you're right! Um.... what are Pisces like?
