The Forest - House of Horrors
Zorine and Ed chop up limbs, chop down trees, chop up native wildlife, build log cabins and fly through the air in the Steam Early Access Alpha of open-world survival-horror game, The Forest.
Nice video, guys. I've been waiting until it's more polished before I pick it up. At least the bugs are funny.
Play this again only this time go deeper in the caves and find the dead babies and tentacle monsters.
It's great how the full clips are back now.
I don't really like games like minecraft, terraria, other survival games/building mechanics where it goes into great depth for a building mechanic system (although I haven't really given many of these games a proper go but I've seen enough to not want it). Whereas this game, seems simple enough for my tastes. I will still wait for full release though. I avoid early access games usually. Apart from Lifeless Planet. That was cool.
Could we see a full play of the Among the sleep since its now out or Call of Cthulhu now that game was fun and intresting!
I dont like indie games, i wish i could... The games just never feel wholesome to me.. It may look good on the ouside but you can just feel the lesser quality the moment you start looking around and interacting with things..
And I am not saying that indie developers are worse than commercial developers or anything. But the sad reality is that proper games require a very high budget and at least 100 developers to feel wholesome and polished
At their very BEST, indie games feel like the developers are employing tricks/workarounds to make their product APPEAR higher quality than it actually is.. But below the surface you can feel the lesser quality
Kind of like buying a no-name brand product at the store. Like an after market xbox controller. It looks good on the outside but the second you pick it up you realize it is plastic and light as a feather
I am a big fan of independent/non-commercialized things in life (i prefer to support local stores over commercial stores like wal-mart anyday) But unfortunately, indie just doesn't really seem to work out when it comes to things like games.. Unless its like a 2D platformer or something (but even those can take years for a single developer to complete)
Been playing this for 20h+. Having lots of fun with it, still they have to lots of work before they can call it a proper game.
Love HOH good to have it back after E3!
and can we have the presenter cam back to the bottom right corner plz?
thx - Major_Wood
They are pretty amazing!
@riotinto876 Maybe because I pick the least scariest games in the world.
@youre_a_sheep Actually, it is there, they just really didn't get to it here. I played this game for about 20 minutes and saw some insane things that made me say "Nope" and turn it off. I don't know why, but every time I started playing this game (I restarted 4 times), I was immediately attacked by 6 cannibals, before I even got a chance to make a shelter. I got knocked out, woke up in a dark cave.
Later on you run into some terrifying mutants made out of human parts that reminded me of Silent Hill. Giant monsters made out of dead naked women, that look like giant spiders, "squid" mutants, dead babies galore...I don't know how they didn't show this in this video!!!
@youre_a_sheep the horror is the paranoid mind set the game gets you in to with watching your back and looking around for the cannibals all the time.
it puts you on edge because you can mess up easy and lose everything.
@dannydopamine8 IMO indie devs have something to prove that they can compeate with the big boys so they'll work that much harder to make their game the best they can make it but for the big shots like EA or Actitivision they have millions backing them and as a result don't have to put the same TLC into their games as Indie devs do and the Big shots DON'T.
if you look every year theirs ALWAYS a new Battlefield or Call of Duty but all they are is slightly more polished version of the one the year before.
If you look at Call of Duty one when it game out it was spectacular but look at it today its a pile of
Most games today are the gamming worlds version of Airline or hospital food!
Haha, thanks for the feedback. I'm curious though, why do you wish for it to be back in the bottom right?
@Maj_Wood I moved it so viewers could see our health/hunger/energy levels, but thanks for your feedback.
I like to watch the reactions and interactions between You, Jess and Edmond and with the camera in the bottom right; I could maintain a balance in watching the ‘presenter cam’ and the gameplay and with the change; I found more and more I was looking only at the gameplay and not being able to maintain the balance as before but that may be just me being used to the old position.
But thanks for doing this show it brightens up my Monday mornings!
@Zorine It's all in the caves...I'd say please give it another go but hey it's your show :)
Also a new update for this just came out so it's a tiny bit less buggy I have yet to be launched in the air from chopping dead people.
