Downloaded the demo today when I couldn't find any games at gamestop. Wow was I blown away, I've never thought much about these arcade games and I regret that now. Me and my friend were playing this all day I'm going to pick it up as soon as I get some points from game stop cause I have credit with them.
I played the demo last night - it was killer. If I hadn't already spent so much money this week I would have purchased. Play now!
try the game on easy or normal, Its NOT hard. To bad you can't upgrade all your skill and weapons, becasue you got to less psycho euhm stones (forgot the name)
This game is crazy fun. The reviewer wasn't kidding when he said it's quite punishing in terms of difficulty. At first button-mashing will get you past the first wave or so of enemies but this game will punish you for doing that as you get farther along.
I haven't played the game yet, but I am going to download it. From what I've seen I guess it deserves an 8.0 - 8.5 instead of a 7.5 because difficulty depends on the person and especially with Beat-'em-ups. Nice video review though :)
anyone ever heard of the saying "don't knock it till u try it?" I didn't find this video review misleading at all. I hate people that judge video reviews as misleading. There's only so much you can say about a game in a few minutes. The video review is there to compliment the written one, so if you want the full story you're going to have to exercise your brain.
Could the Gamespot reviewers please read a thesaurus! I am sick to death of hearing the phrase 'a tonne of this......' 'a tonne of that......'. It's just lazy. Maybe it's just an American thing, like 'hella'?
I respect Gamespot's rating system so much. Wouldn't believe how difficult it is to objectively say that anything about 7 really is worth playing. Most people find games they slightly enjoy and give it an 8.5 or above.
@SocialAnXieTy -- 7.5 means "very good," and this is indeed a very good game. However, a 3-minute video review is supplementary to the written review, which gos into more detail regarding this game's strengths and weaknesses. I make it clear that usually, The Dishwasher is legitimately challenging, but that it occasionally crosses that line into cheapness. I also mention in this video review that the action can get tedious... and detail other issues in the written review. I highly recommend reading it before rushing to snap judgment.
I dont know why 2D sidescrollers are coming back, you have an xbox 360! one of the most powerful systems on the market and you wanna play an arcade 2D game? Dont get me wrong it looks cool, but for DS or something not 360
Maybe it's because it's 2D and it's a side-scroller that he rated it 7.5 despite all his positive comments. What a racist (technically speaking).
So Kevin VanOrd praised almost every aspect of the game and had practically nothing bad to say about it aside from the 'punishing' difficulty (In which he even admitted that it wasn't 'cheap', but rather you just had to do better.), yet the official score is 7.5? It's hard to take these reviews seriously anymore.
One more reason to own an Xbox! All games SCEA develops are a failure. They don't know what gamers want. And 3rd party companies are always attracted to the console that sells more (the Wii too).
They made it look way too hard, you can just play on easy then play again on normal when you have all the weapons and their respective combos bought, they didnt mention it has a lot of nice platformer action, not like Mario, more like Castlevania: SotN, for just 10 bucks you're practically stealing from the creator.
Downloaded the Trial version of this and i have to say its one of the best XBLA games I have ever played. I believe this shows some of the talent which is out there (as this was created on the DNA games creating software for Xbox 360)
i can't believe ONE GUY made this....absolutely astounding, XNA is a great tool guys i encourage everyone to try it
pretty looking game with lots of gore & cool looking characters. having said that, i'm still not going to get it- i don't need my games full of punishment. i just want them to be fun.
TylerW: Yes, I realize that Gamespot most likely wouldn't have scored it if it had been a community game. I meant that compared to other community games, it would have stood out immensely - the equivalent of a 9.5 on a review scale in the minds of the community. James Silva really did us gamers a solid with this one and he deserves all the accolades he receives.
beothees, sorry if I was unclear. I tried to be clear though: the game is, most of the time, hard but not cheap. However, it does occasionally cross the line due to all visual chaos.
Tr5978: If this game had come out as a community game, we probably wouldn't have scored it. Instead, its a game that was made by one guy in his nights and weekends going toe-to-toe against the best that XBLA has to offer. The fact that it got a rather respectable score is just proof that there's a bright future in homebrew game development. Dishwasher is good sized fish in a big ol' pond, which is a much better place for it than a fishbowl.
FINALLY ITS OUT!!! love this game! and it was all made by ONE GUY! but man KVO's voice can get on my nerves. he adds inflections to the end of some words. like he's over emphasizing one of the syllables. "it is a blAST". may be thats just me...
