Nintendo E3 Conference 2012 Mash-Up
E3 2012: Want to watch the Nintendo E3 conference, but not got the patience? See all the best bits in just three minutes with this handy mash-up.
While Im at it let me tell you why I think Nintendo is the Winner. Simply because Nintendo focuses on Happy games, furthermore Kids play it.. you figure it out... you want your 10 year old shooting and blowin ppls heads off in a game? Fun? Yes. Good for them. NO!
I guess im a little confused about this WiiU. I currently own the wii and xbox360 and my brother has the ps3. Not biased towards any. I love the wii for "party" games like super smash bros, mario party, mario kart, mario sports games, etc. I dont see how this could be a system that includes the fun in multiplayer. I dont really understand the point of the tablet? Whats the point of the tv screen when you have the tablet showing almost identical stuff? The small advantages of having two screens just doesnt make it worth it to me. It honestly just looks like a big gameboy to me. Ive always loved nintendo and their game consoles for a much different reason than microsoft or sony...nintendos games are just fun and have great exciting more friendly memories with ANYONE. However, this just seems like a huge leap backwards for me and too complicated.
I think the Wii U is going to be a bust. They are showing off games already out on other consoles and the hardware is mediocre. Also, I dont have a nice big TV to lok at the tiny little tablet infront of me or hold it in front of my face to control a baterang.
Watched all xbox, ps3 then nintento. For the first time since SNES I actually thought I could buy nintendo.
I have xbox now and its getting old, not enough new ideas. and ps3 all stars - really, just no, why take a step backwards. Didn't nintendo do this years ago.
Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge, it's like the version of the PS3 and 360 were like unfinished versions. Now we have to buy a WiiU to play a better version. Crap
people that say Wii U will fail have nothing to support those words only their own opinion.
nintendo only did bad with virtual boy, nothing else because 3DS is selling really good this year
I used to hate Wii and the lack of non-casual games in nintendo consoles but I was so wrong on that part
im pretty disappointed in nintendo's conference, tbh. reggie fils-aime, however, is still entertainingly goofy/awkward.
Ok Nintendo I'm kinda disappointed in you I get your trying to reinvent the gaming industry but the Wiiu is an HD Wii, don't get me wrong that tablet looks pretty cool. And I was half expecting to see a 3DS lite thinner, no more ice cream sandwich, with TWO sliders but you know what Nintendo I expected this but didn't want it to be true.
Actually, ALL of the conferences kinda sucked. Nintendo was by far the worst, period. The Wii U is nothing more than a Wii in HD. Nintendo showed off Wii U games that launched on the 360/PS3 months ago. The funny thing is they didn't look any better and had hardly anything new added to them. Nintendo has went for the casual crowd 100%. They showed it by introducing the Wii, and further cemented that position by the Wii U. They don't care about any sort of media services or even simple things like dvd playback. They have no sort of online service at all that any adult wouldn't feel like a pedophile using. The Wii U is a joke of technology and even the casuals may not find that it differentiates itself enough from the Wii to justify the purchase.
Sony had the best presentation as far as games go. And yes, games are the primary reason for gamers, but what do you do in the weeks and months when there are no decent games to play? I personally use the tons of different media features in the 360. Sony showed nothing good on the services front, which I would argue, are just as important to alot of people as games are. I own both the 360 and PS3, but I haven't had a reason to turn my PS3 on since Uncharted 3. So I'm excited they announced some awesome looking games. God of War was totally stale, so hopefully the differences in the new one make it feel new again. But I would really like to see Sony start to innovate in the "services" department and the arcade games department. If I haven't had anything good to play since Uncharted 3, services and media functionality would've helped fill the void, not to mention having some awesome arcade games would be just as good as a new retail game. Get on that Sony!
Microsoft had the best "services" and innovation press conference. Smart Glass looks really cool and seems like it could have endless uses. The best part about it is that they aren't limiting it to only Windows phones, but both Android and iOS users can enjoy it as well. The new Splinter Cell, one of my favorite franchises, looks sick. Can't wait for that. Clearly Microsoft is winding down on the current gen of consoles. They didn't really show much in the games department that we didn't know was already in the works, except for Splinter Cell. Microsoft also really excels in the arcade games area. Many times I've been more satisfied with an arcade game, from Xbox Live Arcade, than a full retail game experience. Their "Summer of Arcade" is coming soon and looks like it'll provide a handful of good games to play. It seems like many of the Sony fanboys don't give services and media the credit they deserve. Lately I've been using HBO Go more than regular television. HBO Go has any/all HBO series that were ever made, from the very first episode to the series finale. You can watch Oz, The Sopranos, The Wire, ect.... from start to finish. So watching the episodes of Game of Thrones that I missed and catching up on True Blood before the new season starts are just as important to many people as having good games to play. HBO Go is pretty much available on mobile devices and the 360 is one of the few devices that puts it on your tv screen. Microsoft already has a ton of apps and services, so hearing that they're expanding them even more is great. The weakness in Microsofts' camp is exclusives and first-party games. I understand that they prefer to pay 3rd parties to make exclusives for them, but dam Microsoft... you need to start making some of your own games again, besides Halo. Sony's first party offerings are almost as good as Nintendo's is now, and Sony has a ton of internal studios.
So that's my take on what went down and what needs to improve. Like I said... Nintendo was by far the most disappointing. Sony and Microsoft, imo, were equal, but focused on different parts of their consoles. People that prefer app, services and media will think MS offered more. While people that look for games as their primary means of entertainment would think Sony had the better showing. I love both games and services/media equally and I'm glad the two conferences were so different from each other.
"Wii U does all sorts of things ! you can watch baseball while playing your games ! you can draw on the controller ! you can play hasami shogi on your controller ! you can watch baseball fly ! you can see sand on your floor ! you can check your BMI with your controller ! you can spy on your neighbors with your controller ! you can throw ninja stars with it right onto your tv screen ! you can make video calls to your friends whose dogs are not amused ! you can browse web with your controller ! and the most amazing of all ! Wii U will probably play video games too !
but we recommend you to buy an extra controller or controller PRO because all these AMAZING features drain the controller's battery dry and you may have to recharge it for negligible two and a half hours "
nintendo conference wore not so good, because there are a lot of games thet they are hiding for some rason, like the new super smash bros.you know, i bought all the other 3 and i want the wii u version.
also, there are going to come much more hardcore games for wii u. could there be more hardcore games for wii u than x-box in the future?
The first HD Zelda game is Batman: Arkham City for the Wii U
Am I the only one to notice that these two games use a very similar gameplay formula??
OMWii U, this got to be the most underwhelming introduction of a new console ever. What does the Wii U offer, why are people going to pay good money to buy it. Graphic wise it is on par with the 6-7 year old consoles on the market today. Gaming wise the motion controller fade is over and that screen/controller thing does not look comfortable at all for a long gaming session. I does not seem like developers are taking Nintendo seriously any more. You bet when Sony and Msft introduce their next gen; probably next E3; developers will show brand new IPs and stunning new graphics. I have all three consoles and a gaming PC. The least I’ve played and least games bought for a system is by far the Wii. I have the two Mario galaxy and the two Zeldas., that is it… the Wii U will probably be the first Nintendo console I will not buy since the NES. I think if Nintendo should focus on making games only and get out of the hardware side. Their games will sell like fire on any console and any platform home or mobile and without the crazy investment needed to launch a new console.
Good display of games though it still doesn't look like the alpha dog in the graphics department, just put a Zelda HD game on and the Smash Bros and you'll sell billions thats with a B
I was very intrigued when I heard the WiiU will have a Xbox/PS3 like controller, and after hearing about that the ONE and only thing I wanted to see at Nintendos press conference was a new Zelda game for the new console. I very much look foward to playing a HD Zelda game with a normal controller!!
@sixfish Rely should
@obelizkz You will, that's guaranteed :) I just also noticed how Handheld gaming devices are being ignored, thats because Nintendo was the first one to come up with a Handheld Console with a screen and it can be attached to your TV :) Almost pointless to own a normal hand held gaming device :P Give Nintendo good support, they work very hard for you.
@dinslacck They're not sliding sticks anymore. The sliding sticks are called "circle pads" and they have replaced them for good normal analog sticks, pretty much like the nunchuck and dualshock have.
@LtReviews nintendo is the pioner. all the other press simply copy theyre idea and make a game. how do you think msony made the firt ps1? they copy nintendo. and microsoft made xbox coping ps2, which is a copy of gcn. for real, there should be just one console for all the presses.
@pharomarc that is true, but if you considers that nintendo wore pioner about hardware, they are going to continue making consoles. but to be tru, my dream is seing msft and nintendo making a hardwae toghrter
@anticusho1984 Yea, except those "hardcore" games are already available on PS3, X360 and PC.
@jedediahpelland Yeah, I'm pretty sure Nintendo said that they like the control scheme in Skyward Sword so much that they're never going back to regular controls. :"(
@jedediahpelland fat chance of that happening...playing with a regular controller that is
@slonekb05 That's what they said about the Wii, which was a casual piece of crap that has sold 95.85 million units so far. Now imagine the Wii U, an actual hardcore Nintendo console.
Yeah... it's definitely not gonna flop. That thing will print money for Nintendo.
@YoshiYogurt yea its really catchy
@laikabauss Frankly tbh it already is...I would not see my self holding another console but Wii U not because of the games but convenience :D From Car Console to Home Console in a seconds :)
@laikabauss You are a moron. PS1 was the first major console with a CD drive when Nintendo was still stuck on using cartridges with the SNES, an outdated format that Nintendo continued to use until Gamecube.
@laikabauss sony was making a cd add on for the snes which Nintendo bailed out on thus said add-on became PS1
@chaosbrigade almost every "hardcore" in this gen is for PS3/Xbox 360, maybe PC but not for Wii so seeing some in Wii U is a bug change unless you miss the last 6 years in gaming
@chaosbrigade I think there are some hardcore exclusives. Rayman Legends, Zombi U, Pikmin 3... and I hope the multi-platforms will play better on the Wii U than they do on the 360 or PS3.
@rioleo Nintendoland, Wii U Fit, Tank Tank Tank, a generic Super Mario Bro, Zombie U, etc, etc, maybe it's just me but the "hardcore" part escapes me from the super-casual family friendly party-game lineup.
Just because a Nintendo console can finally has the hardware to play current/next gen games doesn't make the console "hardcore". Nintendo has already established its brand as a family friendly casual gaming console and it is obvious from the E3 announcements that Nintendo wants to retain that market.
Let's face it, if you are a hardcore gamer you would go for PS4 or X720, a Nintendo console is something you buy for your girlfriend or your 5 year old daughter and then throw it away on the shelf to collect dust.
The problem is, for a family friendly casual product, Wii U will cost significantly more than what Wii cost when it first launched. This will undoubtedly alienates the casual gaming crowd and eliminates what made Wii sold so well in the first place: Its affordable price tag.
Basically to summarize it all, Wii U is a family friendly casual gaming console with the hardwares to play "hardcore" games, except for the fact that "hardcore" gamers wouldn't touch it and it's way too expensive for the casual gamers. In Greg Miller's words: Wii U is for nobody.
Unsurprisingly, when Nintendo first announced Wii U in last year's E3, its shares dropped.
Wii U will print money for Nintendo? You lack a lot of analysis and hindsight, my friend.
@TBoneSteak1197 Song is called Glitter Sticker 2 from audio network, make sure it's 2, 1st version has these awful vocals
@chaosbrigade So my friend, as a friend of mine sad, "Think five times before making a coment, not just twice!".
@chaosbrigade Sorry. I was a litle exagerated on my last coment(maybe a lot). Actualy, I was like FUUL OF RAGE when I wrote that. Sony and Microsoft are not thieves pesses. I were a Sonyst before being a Nintendist. Its true. I like all of them. my pc is a Sony Vaio, wich works with Windows 7. And, I have the wii, the X-box 360 and the ps2(and I wanna buy the ps3 to play "Playstation all stars batle royale" ;D), but I dont like people saying bad things about nintendo(it makes me rage). So I made bad use of the other two names. But now being real, Nintendo rely wanted a contract with Sony. And it would be grat if they had one. But they don't have. As I sad in the other coment, all the presses should have a fix contract forever. And there should be only one potent console for all the presses in every generation. It is my dream. It would make the world bether.
@chaosbrigade The history is that:
Nintendo wanted to put the cd conseption on the n64, so they tryed to make that with a famous computer firm(Sony). But, to do that, Sony needed to have the major codes to put in the optical cd. So, Nintendo let the codes for them, and Sony betrayed Nintendo, and made themselves a console based in the Nintendo ones, because Sony had a contract with Microsoft, wich in 2001 got the codes from Sony that were stolen from Nintendo, and made the x-box(a piece of shit compared with any other console in his age, even ps2 was bether). So, you who think the others are bether than Nintendo are all wrong. they are just thieves and do you approve thieves? I ges you do fuking Sonyst.
@chaosbrigade I think you mean insight, not hindsight. And it's fair to say that the Wii U is launching with more games directed at "the hardcore" - you've just decided not to mention any of them in your comment. There are millions of passionate "core" gamers who play games on Wii. Just because it doesn't have MW2, doens't make it any less of a console. In fact, arguably the Wii was the most influencial console of this generation.
As for the shares, before E3 all three console manufacturer's shares spike in anticipation so they almost always drop after an announcement - it just depends by how much. In any case if you're gauging the quality of a console on what Wall Street things you'd better look elsewhere. You think the Wii was a surefire hit when it was announced?
@chaosbrigade wii u is an 8 generation console so hardcore gamers WILL tuch it, wii u is for everybody, even for bill gates
@chaosbrigade actualy, gaming is not just hardcore. that is why nintendo are geting this part now
