Microsoft's Gamescom 2013 Conference in 2 Minutes
Microsoft detail their latest Xbox One plans in this two minute montage of their Gamescom 2013 conference.
No surprise that MS wants to give away FIFA. The Seattle Sounders are sponsored by Xbox. Just glad they aren't giving away a game I'd never play. Which doesn't really matter because I will probably wait until The Division or a price drop to get an XONE.
It takes a company on the brink of collapse to really humble you. A lot of Sony's longtime heavyweights like Yoshida-san and Cerny really rolled up the sleeves and went totally honest, with the spare exec like Tretton or House still wearing the suits. It really feels like, at every step of the way, Microsoft is reacting, on the defensive. Standing onstage and having some British guy in a suit who happens to be a terribly monotone speaker attempt to convey Microsoft's "excitement" about embracing smaller studios and making publishing easier is a weak sell, and flies straight through my left ear and out the right.
It's desperate. And kind of funny to watch.
It also makes my tummy feel weird because I own a flagship Windows Phone.
Most of the negativity surrounding the X1 was caused from all of the confusion about MS's policies... Mostly due to shitty journalism and people who believe anything they read on a blog.
Really, the only thing holding me back from wanting to buy an X1 is all of the games I have yet to play on current-gen consoles. I'm not ready for that investment.
MS: "We listened to what the development community wanted."
Dev: "I wanted it to be like Sony really."
Cutting out their "j/k" laughs. Hilarious!
Shit, Give me dead rising 3 for free bundle and I'd buy an xbox one. (Then it'll be worth that 500 greenbacks price.) Seriously, the Kinect sensor is a piece of crap that us hardcore gamers don't need or want.
Get me Killer Instinct (the complete game) instead of FIFA and I might get and XBOX one. Not a soccer fan.
I love the more like Sony joke, good to see Microsoft have a sense of humour, just wish this was a more better product video, but it gamespot so no shock
GameSpot thank you for the amazing video. Your inclusion of all they Xbox exclusive was amazing. Like how you showed Forza, KI, Titanfall, Project Speak, etc and the length of the video just brilliant editing. Thank you.
Everybody gets a free copy of FIFA 2014 when pre ordered xbox one, BULLSHIT. I live in norway, one of the countries cancelled from the first wave of xbox one, I was very close to cancel my preorder, but then we got a free game as announced in the video. BULLSHIT know they have announced it only applies to the first wave, where the fuck is the logic in that. Pre order cancelled, PS4 only this time around.
What the fuck is this? I have absolutely no desire to buy the console after this conference. Or to visit this site anymore for that matter.
So why isn't the US getting Madden for free? I don't play it, but I could regift it or trade it for a good game.
Hey gamers xbox really sucks!! Lol not for the games which I have no problem with but why do u need a freaking gold membership just to use their internet and YouTube!! I've only been back with Sony for 8mths and I'm no fan boy of any system just think Sony cares about true gamers while xbox only cares about its fan base
Whoever decided it was a good idea to hold a conference where no matter where you sit most of the time you're staring at the back of a person's head is a idiot.
MS is trying to trick the consumer with the illusion of value. MS is releasing the next Sega Saturn....
I honestly don't understand why people hate Microsoft so much. Sure they tried a few things to make some extra money but they are a business not a charity. Besides I believe that had the result of Microsoft's announcements not been so negative that Sony would have gone with the exact same policies or at least very similar policies. And so what if they reversed there policies? That's them trying to not only make more sales which who can blame them but it's also giving gamers what they wanted in the first place but still everyone has to complain. People act like MS owes them a handout but they don't. All the complainers need to just grow up. And FYI I'm not a fanboy I love and own both current and next gen consoles from both company's even Nintendo.
@NetBiosError And I bet those flies didn't have any obstacles impede their progress on that lonely and quiet trip ... just a lot of echo and the sound of water dripping.
@NetBiosError I know exactly how you feel. I'm a Lumia 920 user yet I'm all about Playstation. To be honest, MS have done very little to enhance the connection between Windows Phone and Xbox and I've never been into mobile gaming anyway. As for the Xbox One, it seems to be the 3rd console effect, all companies seem to get cocky with their third console and try to tell gamers what they want only to then be humbled.
@PartyGavinParty or hear in the official conference.
No confusion, I read the 1st Press release.
That was enough.
Why do you think MS is Flip/Flopping on nearly all their launch policy's
like some bad washed up politician.
They felt that backlash & knew that if they didn't turn around Sony would bury them.
The link below shows a video from Sony doing just that.
@PartyGavinParty wasnt confusion. They were just shitty policies
@SOLDIER-No2 yea ha ha idiot
@Sruppert Now, that's a bundle real gamers will care about.
@Geminon It's pretty clear that GS has decided that at every opportunity they are going to help MS look as bad as possible for the X1. The whole first minute of this video was awkward MS execs. Compare that to the Sony 2 minute summary.
I thought they crossed a line of journalistic integrity when so many GS reporters came out after E3 that they would only support the PS4 but that was in the heat of the moment after a really stupid bunch of decisions from MS. However, I thought journalists were supposed to remain relatively impartial. Seems that GS has decided that route is for suckers.
@somatzu What did they ever do to you? Steal your bike? XD
@somatzu I would rather get rid of you first with that attitude
@somatzu i feel like thats how Microsoft has been for the past few years
So dedicated servers, HDMI IN, impulse triggers, a good launch line up, Cap card support and improved matchmaking are not valuable?
@coryseals1987 at least they backed off with those policies after all that bitching... that's what matters. The million of complains after that won't matter now, but it did before because it showed the will of customers. Think of all of it as a piece of videogames history.
@coryseals1987 The problem is, that if MS knew their fans and other customers they would not have done everything they did. I can see they are a business but a good business listens to their consumers, and MS clearly didn't. Betraying all their fans and made SONY look good before they even said a word about the PS4.
SONY would most likely have done some, but not all of the stuff MS did, if MS hadn't f'ed it up with throwing everything at us at once. With 360 they were slow with binding us to the gold subscription, while SONY kept it out.
SONY f'ed up with having an overpriced console that came out to late. That could probably all have been fixed if they hadn't tried to give their fans backwards compatibility on the PS3, like their fans wanted, but is too expensive. MS do not have those excuses, so I think they will implement all that bad stuff slowly instead, putting us in the same bad situation, while SONY will most likely do a little of it, after MS does as they are more eager.
@coryseals1987 "Besides I believe that had the result of Microsoft's announcements not been so negative that Sony would have gone with the exact same policies or at least very similar policies. And so what if they reversed there policies?"
That line of thinking is exactly why they think they can get away with idiotic ideas. Sony didn't go that route because they recognized the negative impact it would have on the console market. They were aware of the consumer unrest surrounding such intense DRM and forcing peripherals upon them. Don't apologize for Microsoft, thank Sony for paying attention. And the fact that they so easily retracted EVERY policy despite having already stated that the system wouldn't function without them, should make anybody purchasing the system weary of continued policy reversals later on. Reversals that could bring the system back to its original stance. Kudos to them for trying regain ground, but that should have been their main concern from the start.
By the way, not a Sony fanboy. I haven't owned a Playstation system since the first one.
@coryseals1987 I agree that the hating is excessive and that PS fanboys are getting one back. However, it would be wrong to say that Microsoft hasn't screwed up with all this Xone process. They didn't explain nearly enough the advantages of the system and they introduced a big deal of user-unfriendly policies. It has made someone like me and many others that chose the 360 instead of the PS3 prefer the idea of the PS4.
I think the main issue Microsoft has had with the presentation is that attitude that lashed back at sony in the initial years of the PS3.
@coryseals1987 you don't understand because you don't want to.
Well said. I see it as, with the ps3 not turning out as good as expected all the pro Sony boys have got to bash on MS as much as possible for the slightest most trivial thing in an attempt to justify the PS4 before its released and everyone realises mistake we're not learnt from the PS3 after all.
@murderek Well said
@murderek The "good launch line up" is debatable. Everything else, No
I agree that while a good company needs to listen to it's consumers that's not all they need to listen to. They also listen to the publishers who want a fix to the pirate problem and understandably so. It seems nearly impossible to fix one problem without causing another. And while I absolutely hate the idea of online drm, I can't think of another way to do it. But if you think about it, it's the game developers that need to be thrown a bone even if it's just a little at our expense because over the last few decades games while growing crazily more difficult and expensive to make have seen only around a $10 rise in cost and not only that but pirating has grown infinitely worse. And I think that MS's original policy would have helped a lot of these companies afford to make more and better games for a new generation of consoles. Especially newer companies.
@JachAnen They did listened and changed those called " BAD THINGS " how did both of them could've Listened before ANNOUNCING the fucking console ?
I don't believe that to be true I think they just recognized the negative impact on sales and I can't say I blame them because that's there end game. A business is a business and the last and only thing nearly all of them care about is money. So whatever there reasoning is it's not how it affect the consumer or the market but how it affects there income.
If they were paying attention this much why did they Patented DRM for Blu-Ray games before E3 ?
Why there are games Build-In Ps4 which doesnt even work withiot PS EYE yet there is no Eye in the bundle ?
Also almost none of the Gamepads "innovative" features works without PS EYE ?
These are all last minute alterations.
@ScouseMelon PS3 was too expensive at launch, they learned that lesson. PS3 was too difficult to develop for, they learned that lesson. PS3 launched a year after the Xbox360, they learned that lesson... Seems like they're off to a good start this time around.
I actually see more comments from Microsoft fans about switching to PS4 than anything else. It's okay if you want to be loyal to Microsoft though; it's your money.
@arqe @Zombrex Try reading this as slowly as possible. Just because a company patents something doesn't mean that it will actually exist. They patent things so other companies can't use them without permission. They also patented a way to release trophies at any point and included things like Netflix and non-game entities. Also does not exist.
So your entire argument is built around a PS Eye tech demo that doesn't exist outside of the PS4 demo stations? Good job.
@Zombrex There are games Built-In system which requires PS EYE. That retareded jumping robot game for example.Or call them apps doesnt matter. They wont work without the PS EYE.
And patenting a DRM system which related the features of upcoming console doesnt mean anything ? Yeah you are right.
@arqe @Zombrex Both companies patent a lot of retarded things, a patent doesn't mean they exist. Moot statement.
There are no games built into the system, especially those requiring the PS Eye. Moot statement.
The "innovative" features are for the people that WANT to own a PS Eye. I and a great number of people have no use for motion controls. Let that be for people who WANT a PS Eye and WANT games with motion controls.
