Say what you want about the Mako, but you can't have that much fun with planet scanning probes.

All i want multiplayer for ME4, but bigger, better, more challenging then found from ME3. Might be the only thing that will have me buying from EA or Bioware again.

@Vexov EA destroyed ME and DA series for me, and COD for that matter. Never bought or played any of them again after i saw the changes made. I played like 5min of DA2 and inmediatly returned it o the store, also with ME2. And COD without Infinitywars... its plain crap. But hey, there is a market for everything I guess, they do really well in sells, just like Transformers movies box office, I mean, cuz there is still so much story to tell about autobots, right?

Loved exploring planets in the Mako. The first was my favorite Mass Effect game. The two other were fun as well, but they lost that Star Trek feeling of commanding a spaceship and exploring the galaxy on your own terms.

As for the controls i liked that as well. Even if it did feel a bit like a 3D Elastomania at times

The boring planets are what killed the Mako, but not the Mako itself. But then again, over the course of ME2 and 3, elements were stripped down to the bone.

I don't know why BioWare just doesn't give the player a gunship instead of a ground-hugging vehicle instead. I suppose that BioWare can't design levels which are more sophisticated than corridor-crawls.

@Gelugon_baat Ground hugging? That Mako spent more time floating through the air & jumping in short bursts than it ever did on the ground.

Good point. Maybe I should have said "gravity-bound vehicle" instead of "ground-hugging vehicle".

(But then I recall having seen videos where the Mako got into some weird physics glitch that launched it into the air or into the ground.)

I really hated the Mako. It was fun sometimes of course, such an awesome feel to visit the planets :3 But the Mako had annoying movement.

How could anyone like the Mako? I hated every moment that I spent in that thing. But somehow I still felt compelled to to explore everything with it. It's OCD I guess.

I could understand letting the Mako die if it was synonymous with frustration for you, but I liked it. To me, it was synonymous with exploring new areas. Granted, on additional playthroughs I mostly just skimmed planets and it got boring and tedious because I feel the urge to complete things that I have already done before, but on the first playthrough it was great because it was new and often exciting to explore and encounter new things. To make it better, the planet generation needs to be upgraded so you don't get some little satellite at the bottom of a really steep cliff with little or no way back out, and I'd like to see more strange new things in the back of some backwater base. Things like the mission to the moon were great, and such a place could be an excellent stage for finding experimental parts to make powerful weaponry.

I liked the mako, I thought it really helped give a greater sense of exploration that the other games were missing.

@couly They were trying to find a way to make material gathering interesting, but yeah, they failed. Material gathering was for a long quest in ME1, and it was for ship upgrades in ME2. Material gathering is a good concept for an RPG (in my opinion), but I'd rather see some kind of mining operation system instead of planet scanning.

Maybe you could spend money to send out probes to entire star systems instead of planets, and those probes could report back after some amount of time or after a major story advancement, giving you all kinds of info about the bodies in that system (asteroids, planets, moons, star bases, anomalies, distress signals, etc.), including materials and whether life and technology exist there. It would be a wall of text, but such detailed reports make RPG exploration much more exciting when you go out there and find something that you didn't have a waypoint for! Then maybe you could take some part in setting up a mining operation in which you get some of the materials continually. That could be interesting if done well.

There wasn't anything wrong with the mako exactly, it was the environments you drove it around in that were boring. They felt slapped together with copy and paste buildings. The interiors of which were terribly repetitive.

I didn't mind the Mako in ME1, the Hammerhead... that's another story. But screw the vehicles, what song is this? I'm really liking the old school vibe.

@lpool8 That flying thing was the Firewalker. I hated the Mako for the most part as it was incredibly easy to get stuck in a crater with no way out and bouncing around everywhere over the terrain was so frustrating. I did enjoy the Firewalker though, so hopefully they we bring something like that in the next Mass Effect instalment. Even better, how about the ability to purchase your own vehicles and upgrading them if you want.

The Mako was hilarious and with a few tweaks it would be pretty fun. It was the horrendous planet design that made those exploration missions so annoying.

A 1000 degree angle would only be a 10 degree slope.

I'll leave now lol
