If that was on PS3, I'd definitely give it a try. But, I don't want to play games on my PC, if I can avoid. = )
I'm in love with Alan Wake. This game is amazing. I even wrote a review. Alan Wake is a true storytelling masterpiece.
i played this game for 5 hours and it is BORING AS HELL!!!!
gameplay is really easy and boring but the story is nice though
I remember when this came out, it made so many "most disappointing games of 2010" lists. I LOVED this game but I passed it up originally because of snooty reviews.... won't make that mistake again.
Just picked up Alan Wake for 5 bucks in the on demand category (XBLA).If it weren't for this review from Jess and Zorine I may have passed up on this game.Fantastic job ladies Microsoft Game Studios should thank you for making a sale!
loved the story, gameplay was meh. should have talked bout the importance Twinpeaks tv series influence, tribute to stephen king's themes light vs dark and psychological thriller and big reveal. Ya also didnt mention that Remedy games and Sam Lake, creator and writer of Max Payne 1 and 2, wrote this game as well thats why its soooo good, much better than Ken Levine bioshock bs.
There was a short series for this game called Bright Falls you girls should check it out, its as good as the game.
Zorine your one of the better gamers on Gamespot who can actually play a game and not suck, weird request but i was hoping you could off mouse acceleration in windows and lower sensitivity so the screen isnt so twitchy and jerky. cheers
dont let zorine play mouse controlled games, shes allways flailing the camera around everywhere its making me sick
hehe, i fled thru most of this game. Best tactic was to stun them with the flashlight and make a run for the light. This made the game pretty easy, but still one of my favorites of last year.
PS- lose that keyboard please, its very loud
I loved Alan Wake so much! Combat was a bit stale, sure, but that's not why I was there. I wish there was a sequel or a Thomas Zane spin-off. That would be fantastic! =D
I didn't know there was a separate show for the horror/survival genre... I'd like to see you guys play some STALKER... either the first game(Shadow of Chernobyl) or the last one(Call of Pripyat.) The gameplay is mostly about shooting, but with very strong elements of survival and the atmosphere is simply unmatched by any game I've played before or since. Having to go into a dark factory building with a flashlight(or poor nvg) and being able to hear the mutants growling in the distance and strange little creaks... at one point I had to stop and like prepare myself to go on. Unlike this game(alan wake) they don't use all these techniques that kind of take you out of reality, the way that view cuts to what THEY want you to see and all that BS in the beginning really breaks the atmosphere... in the STALKER games the environment looks totally realistic and that makes it really easy for the player to relate and immerse self into the character, it's an interesting mechanic... without doing all the flashy graphical stuff they simply make the environment generally is comprised of things we see everyday, so we subconciously make up for what's missing... and while there are very few moments where something actually jumps out at you, the constant tension while traversing the Zone builds up really nicely.
"Hoodie, jacket combo" haha that's great! Don't forget about the elbow patches. Girls don't deny, elbow patches, flashlights, and stubble--that's baby making stuff right there!
Decent plot cheap scares and craptacular combat equals 1 thumb up.
p.s. is that a mechanical keyboard?
Alan Wake had a small tv series I think, 6 episodes if I'm correct. It launched on xbox live prior to the release of the game.
It was awesome, they should SO make a tv series out of this.
Funny fact: Here in Finland, the actor who plays Alan Wake/ Mr. Scratch appears in a tv- commercial, where he´s wearing a black suit. Everytime I see that, I´m thinking Mr. Scratch is on tv! If you´ve only played the original game, you probly wont know what I´m talking about...
Anyway, this is a great game in so many ways!
This is a really great game. While this is somewhat action heavy, the way it notifies the player that the bad guys are coming is actually quite creepy, and it doesn't help that Alan Wake can't sprint very long. The visuals are great, but the animations across the board could have been a bit better (facial and body), 'cause those things seem kind of dated, but it's an otherwise beautiful game. The sound is overall fantastic though, and it has one of the greatest atmosphere's this generation.
How come you uploaded all two hours of the stream and not just the highlights? I' m not complaining btw - in fact I' m one hour in right now. Great game and great hosts. :)
@Dedward197666 Glad you liked it, Dedward197666.
@snova9308 Haha, my bad.
@LOVERPS3 an alan wake XBL arcade game was recently released - the gameplay is almost identical to the original. i agree tho -- we need a full sequel!
@cuddlyfuzzle Indeed it is.
@Uri-Z Never heard of Bright Falls before; as an Alan Wake fan I'm going to give it a try. Thanks to both of you :D
@Uri-Z Bright Falls:the series, it was pretty good, yea
If anyone wants to google his mug.
@johnd13 Trying it out to see what you guys like! Also it's MUCH quicker for us to upload the whole thing. Let us know what you reckon =]
But I still haven't played the REmake on the Gamecube (I really should), so it would be nice to watch your highlights (I want join in on the live streaming so I won't see too much of the game).
@rbereczki Yup, mechanical keyboard!
@rbereczki That's what you get with a blue cherry keyboard :)
@wexorian I'm working my way through Doom 3 BFG edition at the moment. We finished Fatal Frame II and I might give Call of Cthulu another whirl.
@unreal101 m y dog is Itchy and my cat is Scratchy.
@tempertress @johnd13 I actually liked it, even though I played the game myself, it was fun to see others go through it. But for people who haven't played it yet and want to it's a shame, then again they can expect spoilers and shouldn't watch it :) I myself can't put myself to close the window, once I commit to something I go all the way ;)
@tempertress I think it' s better this way. It gives us the chance to watch a lot more than 10-15 minutes. And in case someone doesn' t have the time or patience for the whole thing, they can always watch some parts of it.
