This is all true...but all games look like 4090p after 6 joints...so...I dont see what the problem is really.
60FPS is more important than 1080p... if it was running at 900p and 60FPS I would not fault them... but the two "next gen" consoles running their games at 30FPS and less than 1080p is pretty sad. My PC poops next gen consoles and it only has a HD7950 with a mild OC. Regardless, peoples obsession with 1080p is pretty unfounded. It is just a number and for the most part you cannot tell the difference between 720p, 900p and 1080p unless you have really good eyes. The Frame Rate, however, is something that can be noticed by most people. The next gen consoles should have been striving for 1440p to be actually "next gen", at this point, they are just struggling to be current. More reinforcement for me to not get either one.
What kind of next gen console can't run games at the native resolution which is the common standard for everyday HDTV/monitors.
This idiot (and probably paid) kojima is a joke... If the ps4 has "room to spare", the why oh why does tomb raider keep dropping and dipping frames like there's no tomorow..?
omg why they just lower the dam x1 for $400 is not like there losing any money this ms dude is load it with it so the lost of $100 is like 1 peny out of $100 bucks i own already so not saying so i can get it i am saying cuz this getting old already like they know they are lowering it just do it already
Again, glad I got a PS4 over the weekend! As both systems age I don't think it will be much of an issue. "The Order 1886" is a game I'm really looking forward to. I have a 360 still and looking forward to Titanfall. In May I'll be looking forward to Mario Kart 8 on my Wii U! I don't understand the whole "Loyalty" thing when it comes to consoles. Good games coming out on each system!
I love my Xbox One, but I'll admit it is getting annoying with these games not coming out in 1080p. Although it isn't a huge deal for me personally, I just find it difficult to understand why a game can't be 1080p on both consoles.
And another important statement. When are we going to start receiving games that give you that uncertainty feeling when you pick up the controller and you turn it on for the first time? I miss the feeling of playing a game for the first time and you can't put the controller down for hours, only having to go to sleep wondering what is going to happen next in the game. I never get that feeling anymore with most games and it's frustrating. I believe that developers need to be focusing on that than pushing a higher end graphic for the same ole game set up.
There is a fundamental issue with the arguments on this post. You have several people that are arguing which console is "better". Better is such a subjective term that it be constituted in so many different ways. When it comes to the PS4, yes, the hardware can handle 1080p better than the Xbox One can. Xbox One took the RISK and the BET that 1080p is not going to be the deciding factor on this console. They took the BET that multiplayer seamless play is going to be the deciding factor. There is so much more POTENTIAL in the cloud when it comes to developing games. IE Making the AI more adaptable to our gameplay, algorithms that we can't even begin to comprehend, and a cheaper solution for developers so they can focus on the game rather than, "OMG we have to spend how much for servers?!?!"
Personally, I have an Xbox One and I'm taking the bet that I will enjoy their games and also the multi function applications much more than I would a PS4 that really cannot multitask (Today). I've played the PS4 and cross platforms are not that different at all (I own a Samsung Smart 3D TV). The only difference I noticed was the online gameplay which favors the X1. I will say however that I would be curious to see a full 1080p 60FPS game on the PS4 on my TV, because I can appreciate the fine graphics, but is that a deciding factor for buying a console for ME? No.
I can also say that PS4 could not handle what Titanfall is doing from a seamless smooth perspective ONLINE at a 1080p 60 fps standard, it would not run as smooth as it would with lets say a 720p/900p level. PS4's cloud really focuses on the Streaming of old and current games on multiple devices, which is great, however I don't see myself playing a Titanfall type game on a Vita, I'd rather play my games on my nice TV.
Forza 5 and kinect sports 2 1080p hahahahaha yea a kinect game which isn't that graphics heavy and Forza 5 which is half a game when you consider most racing games have more tracks as stanard and has actual weather, lol
I don't think graphics are a deal breaker. But when you are trying to see value in a product, you don't have to look very far to see which one is performing better, and with a cheaper price tag. It's rare that you get both performance and price in the same bundle. Throw in some free games every month to sweeten the deal and its no wonder why PS4 is outselling XB1 2:1
I own both systems, and yes all multiplatform games I own are on ps4. Still have a blast with the X, and I really don't care about the 1080p until it really starts to make a gameplay difference which it never has. I think the original Zelda and Mario are some of the best games ever made and looking back on those graphics they have not aged well but still play the original Mario Bros on my kids Wii and still enjoy it.
My god im tired of hearing about the pc....stfu about it...everyone one has a pc...try running metal gear solid 5 on your epic ass pc...
@boixwunder The PS4 is capable of 4K video.. what are you talking about ??.. http://www.ign.com/wikis/playstation-4/3D_Technology_and_4K_Resolution
@ShimmerMan I have to agree, with next gen tv's already available, but being held back only by being currently still too expensive for mass appeal, both MS and Sony should have been shooting for a higher than today's standard 1080p resolution. Their new consoles are supposed to be at the beginning of their expected 10 year life cycle, but at the moment, with the speed of modern technology's progression, they will be practically obsolete in half that time.
Expect mk 2 versions of at least the Xbone in about 2 years.
@ShimmerMan It's not a matter of not being able to do it, it's a matter of not knowing how to do it. With updates to the development tools, they 3rd party devs with eventually learn how and this won't be an issue. If not being able to do it was the case then Forza and Kinect Sports rivals wouldn't be running at 1080p. Both those titles are first party titles and naturally they would have better knowledge of the way their system works.
@walterg74 Does Tomb raider use the Fox Engine ?? no.. Different game different engine.. your point ????
@skyman_1981 There is nothing left to unlock my friend i don't think you know what your talking about.. The Xbox One scaler is having problems due to low tech hardware in the fucking console also.. DDR3 will never be able to do what Sony 8GB of GDDR5 can do with a supercharged architecture ( no latency for all those nerds try to talk about ram or bus latency GTFO ).. Also they can come out with 100 SDK's adjusting the scaler and trying to get the esRam to perform better.. Which is "exactly" the problem nobody like to learn new tricks every 2 months to develop a game for a console ( changing SDK's )..
Call a spade a spade for once.. Microsoft dropped the ball.. Anybody that has basic knowledge of pc hardware can affirm this period..
@skyman_1981 What are you smoking? There is only 1 videocard in XB1, it is 768 stream processors, 16 ROPs, Bonaire style HD7790 1GB with crippled memory bandwidth. We know the GPU in the PS4 is approximately 50% more powerful by just comparing the specifications of XB1 vs. PS4's GPUs as they both come from the same Graphics Core Next family of PC GPUs.
There is absolutely no hidden magic in the XB1 GPU. If anything, it's even more crippled than the desktop HD7790 since at least the PS4 GPU uses the proper GDDR5 memory interface that all of the top PC GPUs use.
This is not the first game to prove XB1 is simple less powerful than PS4.
I think the "stupid bitch" was actually your momma for having you... She is just reporting news, idiot.
Microsoft's pride and their obsession with motion controls might put them in 3rd place in the console war if they keep holding on to them. Microsoft is not gonna like the ps4 sales numbers after it releases in Japan. They're gonna have to lower the price soon. Microsoft has forgotten how the xbox 360 became so big in the US. Great games, a year head start, and a console that was 100$ and 200$ cheaper than the ps3.
Welcome to the family. I got a launch day ps4 and I still have my 360 too and I plan to purchase 2 final games for the 360. Stick of Truth and Dark souls 2. Play Outlast!! My favorite game on the ps4 righ now. If you like survival horror....it's one of the best ever in my opinion.
@Shantmaster_K Due to hardware limitations a game cannot be 1080p on the Xbox One.. it's really not that difficult to understand..
@Shantmaster_K Because the GPU in PS4 is nearly 50% more powerful, hence it's able to push more details/pixels on the screen at the same FPS.
@Shantmaster_K ikr. look at the order 1886. it looks simply nex gen material. x1 really loses out a lot not being in 1080
I know what you mean about the excitement you get from playing a game the first time.
But that's down to the GAMES writers, artists and programmers at the software houses, not the machines developers and its the same no matter whether you play on a console or a pc.
Its why out of all the games released each year, only a very few of them can actually be called "Great Games".
@furrionn True! Not a deciding factor for me either. There is only one rumored feature of the PS4 I would really like to have on my xbox one though, and that is the backwards compatibility they will be adding for ps1 and ps2 games (if true). Other than that, I am very happy with what the Xbox one is offering now.
You have no clue what forza is and are just a troll... Also nba 2k14 is in 1080p, as is need for speed rivals. So the console can definitely do it, it's just a matter of finding out if it's just that it is harder to do, or if it's just lazy developers (or worse, paid developes like this japanese asshole that is kojima)
My point, since you obviously don't see it, is that it's not that it has room to spare and the xb1 doesn't (as he implicitly means to say), but rather that it all comes down to lousy programming. Tomb raider programmers must be shittier then, since it doesn't perform as well on the ps4-dropping frames well beyon the claimed 60-, and in turn kojima and his engine must also be crappier than others, being that those others put out games in 1080p on the xb1 and he can't... Oh and regarding the "super" fox engine, yeah.. You can REALLY tell how much of a wonder it is just by looking at PES 2014, huh..?
@mattress805 and many Xbox owners had to buy multiple systems due to the hardware problems, bumping up the numbers.
Don't forget "X" on the WII U as well. That looks a great game. Supposed to be more Final Fantasy than the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy was.
It does but we don't know yet why..., you say the order, cool, but look at forza 5, nfs rivals, nba 2k14, all 1080p on xb1
1) I don't have to deal with anything, as I own all consoles. 2) yes, that is in fact the point, and it's due to lousy programming. 3) i don't give a crap what a great "designer" he is, he may come up with great stories being on acid or other shit, still he's not the programmer. 4) he can very well be paid off (hence the praise) and that has nothing to do with the company he belongs to releasing games for more than tpjust the ps4 platform...
@walterg74 Oh and try and name one game that runs 1080p @60fps on Xbox One. You can't because there isn't one.
@walterg74 The real point which you refuse to see is that the Xbox One can't run MGS in 1080p @60fps. Deal with it, stop making ridiculous claims about one of the greatest game designers of all time because the Xbox One is substandard. If Kojima was "paid off" as you say then MGS would not be on Xbox at all.
"and many Xbox owners had to buy multiple systems due to the hardware problems, bumping up the numbers."
But at least there were plenty left over so that they were soon replaced!
If they had been REALLY unlucky they would have bought a PS4, then they would have had to wait ages because there were non left unsold.
OH whoops! :(
Considering they gave you. 3 year extended warranty, i would say very little users, and only among those that bought the first models even
I have a Pioneer AV amp and everything gets upscaled by that automatically, before you see it in 1080p on screen.
The reason I say that is because it wouldn't make a noticeable difference to me which consoles resolution was actually put out.
HOWEVER, it wouldn't be able to do anything for the frame rates, therefore frame rates must be more important, because if you have low framerates you have a jerky maybe even unplayable game.
It's true that in a side by side comparison, especially in a fast flowing action sequence, most people wouldn't be able to see the difference. But NO well made game should be sold if it can't maintain at least 30fps, because lower than that can really destroy someones enjoyment of the game, which nowadays aren't cheap to buy!
