GS News - Uplay PC Download Service Suspended
Ubisoft has temporarily shut down its Uplay PC download service after hackers were found to be exploiting the service.

out of all the new e-stores, origin, uplay, XBLA etc...Uplay at least gives u free content for your achievement points... that being said i hope all of them die a very painfull expensive death, nobody will do it better than steam, and no amount of exclusivity will convince me to move to origin, or any new service liable to die out in a couple of years... always on sucks and when a studio who makes an always-on game is shuttered its servers go down and your always on games become useless.
always-online doesnt prevent piracy
and used game sales dont hurt the industry
Thank you for demonstrating why always online DRM/marketing applications are terrible. No information was compromised ... this time.
Who pronounces it "ooo"play anyway ? (yeah, I know. Pointlessly picky but it does annoy me somewhat)
Always online DRM = always available to be hacked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE PAIN GOES BOTH WAYS!
Why do most major PC makers feel it necessary to open their own gaming service - for example Uplay? As a hardcore PC gamer for many years, I get ticked off when I buy a new game like Far Cry 3, and have to join a new gaming service to play the game. If Steam were the universal service used to download your purchases, it would streamline PC gaming.
Uplay fxxing noob, if you are unable to serve the endusers with good service, you can as well give up. Let STEAM handle all your shit.
Bwahahahahahaha........ hahaha..... bwahahahaha! No sympathy here. I got shafted with a few purchases from them. &%$# you ScoobySoft!
Using the hack one was able to get basically every single Ubisoft PC title and a whole lot of EA games. The multiplayer ones wouldn't work, and some games only opened up with Steam so you couldn't get those either.
But yeah, pretty disastrous for Ubi. It was easy as hell to achieve as well, just minor notepad edits.
Ubisoft is stupid as hell. They shouldn't have uploaded Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon on the Uplay servers before it's even been announced. Now we can all literally download and play the entire game using torrents... and I must say it's a very fun and funny game.
Someone hacked the PC version of Farcry Blood Dragon for PC. Thats why all this sht is happening. WTF Uplay how can you suck?
@HHscxz Spambot no! i'm not checking out one very different style Age of Wushu, mainly because it looks crap.
@CrisLG10 True enough. I still regret getting Mass Effect 3 via Origin. Should have done Amazon.uk
@CrisLG10 Agree, nothing worse than installing a game and getting a new service that you must have an account with, using their own username, achievements, friends-lists and the like.
@Mr_BillGates PC Gaming is the only true form of gaming available, everything else limits your options and forces you to do everything the consoles way. Look at GTAIV, they did a horrible job porting it to PC and yet PC gamers used mods to make it look better than some screen shots of GTA V. PC games are for people who like the take their games a step further, consoles are for people who buy Macs.
@Imperiacommando YOU SUCKS, HUMAN SUCKS, HUMAN'S GOD SUCKS.
@Imperiacommando We'll bang okay?
@Imperiacommando PC gamers hacked PSN too? Uh, yeah...
@Imperiacommando What about gears of war judgment 1 month leak and cracked, Crysis 3 3 week bfore launch on consoles ? who can't be trusted
@Imperiacommando stop trolling, ok?
@EzraPoore Weird because I thought the PC version of Farcry Blood Dragon was for the Gameboy.
@Psycold@Mr_BillGatesyou guys have to stop saying things like "PC gaming is the only true form of gaming" as if any other form is fake, (calm down please) because the fact of the matter is that it's (PCs) just another medium like anything else used to play games. It's more appropriate to say that PC gaming is more versatile. If it were the only true form of gaming, then I wouldn't own a console, handheld, smartphone etc, and I would just game on my PC because developers would no doubt develop for the truest form of gaming only were that statement true
@Psycold @marich7 @Mr_BillGates and I couldn't agree more because as far as "developing"( a lot less broader than gaming) is concerned, I simply must concede the floor to you sir. The development stage is essentially done via PC no matter what platform the game ultimately ends up on. I just wanted to make the point that pure gaming can mean a lot things and it's opinion based. PCs are very versatile but I think that when talking about mods that's all development. Yes, that does indeed affect gaming but none the less it's still in the development category. The "gaming" begins when you play and while we PC gamers do enjoy the luxury/enhancements of mods and whatnot, we can't really measure the gaming experiences over such a broad spectrum and then say PC gaming is the purest solely on the premise that you and I happen to own both console and PC and have made a decision based on such. All we can really say is that we agree that in many areas PC gaming is superior and that's it because let's face it, sometimes there are things that you can actually accomplish better with a controller in an industry over saturated with FPSs but I digress man. Just replied to your comment for some friendly heated discussion and no more.
@marich7 @Psycold @Mr_BillGates But PC devs DO develop the purest form of game with the most versatility, even if they do a crappy job porting it they are still releasing it on a platform that people are always able to get into and change things around unlike a console where you play it their way or the highway.
