Nintendo still struggles with the Wii U, PlayStation Plus has MORE free games, Xbox Ones are leaking, and will the Resident Evil series improve?

That dev needs to STHU.
If anything, women are given unrealistic roles as femme fatales, saviors of the galaxy and what not...
Take a look at present reality, then back at the games. Yup, thought so.
Hmmm... Do I think the "issue" of the portrayal of women in games is: 1. Problematic or 2. Improving? I choose option number 3: TOTAL BULLSHIT.
Survival horror games are dying nowadays, most of people want a simple action game where you just shoot and kill something without even think. I hate that kind of games, I lose interest easily that's what i love old games much more, they are really challenging and fun. I'm not saying current games are bad but I just enjoy a few of them.
I wouldn't even play Biocock Infishit for free. Putrid game should be forgotten about now that we're in 2014.
Peh RE has been garbage, and for that matter Crapcom as well, for a long time now. I haven't touched a Crapcom game since mega man 10 on XBLA. Then they canned Mega Man entirely and I absolutely despise this crap company. And given their RE series getting shit every iteration, huh come to think of it SquareAnus has the same problem fancy that, I doubt their next RE will be any better. Is it me or are the old school Japanese companies failing and failing hard? Nintendon'ts Pii-Eww certainly doesn't raise any hopes of redemption anytime soon. Western gaming finally dominated huh who'da thunk it.
ughhh wish this gender issue would die already. We've had plenty of games in recent times that didn't feature "damsels in distress" and what if they do? so what? I'm less worried about gender equality than I am about people making the games they want without being criticized for it.
Happy Year New guys! Same to you Jess! ;D
Surprisingly, Resident Evil is looking nice in the future. But when will there be a Raccoon City-type of game with ALL characters in it, as the continuation of the story, as in RE7? I would love to play that, and hopefully, with the same nostalgic effect as RE1234... I love that scary, alone-in-the-dark feeling all over again.
Sorry. Don't care about the consoles. Maybe after a few months, I will recognize the console potential again. ;D
It has been a long time since I last posted here. Miss all of you guys! Hey @Diegoctba ? wher art thou? ;DDDDD
And Jess, nice job throughout 2013! Congratz on the new show The Gist. *standing ovation*
My wish for you? More successful career here on Gamespot so you can continue to laugh and post with us. And stay gorgeous, always. ;-]
As always *two thumbs up* ;D
Bioshock Infinite is a pretty serious game to be giving out for free.
New Year's Resolution that's got almost no chance of happening: I will not buy any game until I've finished or given up on all the games I already have.
Resident Evil has always been overrated to my mind. I never understood the fuss over re2 back we it was what everyone seemed to talk about. A game that was only tense because the controls and camera was so awkward. That said, around that time I was obsessed with system shock 2 which also had awkward controls, but was a far more terrifying and atmospheric, and generally just a superior deeper game.
I'd say RE4 was the best RE I played and I didn't love that.
If you are a dedicated fan of RE series, replay past games since the 1st one and pay attention to the minor changes Capcom added over the time. That would explain the series' current state for better or worse.
Personally, when I play RE 2, the puzzle-solving and slow-moving zombies makes me feel like I'm taking part in a good horror story, although I miss more action and no brainer plot every now and then. Granted, when I play RE 6, I'm there just for fun, silly dog tags and hours of time wasted on pure zombie carnage mixed with high scores, even though the story and the puzzles are terrible. I can play both when I want and be happy.
My issue with the RE franchise is that it became popular and than developers tried to "globally appeal" ... and then alienated the main fan base of the series wants a atmosphere and game along lines of "Evil Within" Not a high action shooter with button sequences like "Call of Duty"
Also you see similar thing happing to Dead Space series currently. Best dead space game was the first one hands down. Second one was okay. Third >.> doesn't even feel like the same game. The rough edges and the atmosphere in first dead space is what made it memorable, but now it seems like going more of action and co-op.... and just ruins the feeling of it all around.
Take notes and pay attention to "Evil Within" for both developers that what fans want. We want horror ... horror that no horror movie out their can provide. Gamers who are fans of horror we get our kicks from video games cause movie don't do anything to us anymore.... cause video games bring it to another level of fear.
The whole conversation were "Horror doesn't pay off" >.> somehow seems like bad argument to me. Cause it feels more of along lines we just wanting to make more money by appealing to "Cod fan base" with recent Cod Game I think players starting to realize that most smart gamers knew for last 4-5 years how horribly butcher/clone the series has became and starting to reject it as well. Only reason to buy Cod is cause it like same mentally like buying Apple IPhone 4 to Apple IPhone 5 or Beats headphones a peer pressure buy
The next RE is The Evil Within... Or I hope it is. Its been 3 years in its work, and its the guy that Made the RE's Games (Shinji Mikami). Its also his last game. And he feels that he partially the blame for making the horror games more action oriented with RE4. So he wants to rectify that. Survival Horror for the win.
My issue with RE or any game out these days is that we see one thing that is innovative and when someone copies it and changes it up it supposedly new. Sorry a football game is a football game/ Lousy or otherwise it is. it's the same for any genra...what I want is for them to understand we now see this as basic once someone invents it.
Stop holding back content and calling it dlc.
Stop calling something as innovative cause you changed one thing but ripped off the entire idea from another company.
Stop brining out year after year of sport updates that should be JUST that. Updated.
With next gen if a single map is least not as large as GTA V and have no real linear paths with walls forcing you to stay on course it's no better then what I flush. Good game or bad game is all fine and dandy but content is what I come back for. Short change me and called it purchasable dlc and you can goto hell.
Seriously as if enough issues aren;t likely to hit the XOne in the next few years now it's having console orgasms? really?
After DMC I pretty much gave up on Capcom being a gaming company at all and wonder if they aren't going to go under due to their own stupidity.
Really 2 report the Xbox one leaking "milky white residue" is several? Wonder why this is even a topic for coverage on gamespot? Gamespot do you hate the ONE
Capcom better come up with some fresh new IP, before returning to Resident Evil. And if they still have to make a new RE game, I hope they'll come back to the roots and not try to appel to as much people as possible. If you try to appel to everyone then your game turns into soup, foucs on what you're good instead.
By the way, I'm swedish, I apologize for my crappy english.
Things do not leak up in a pattern someone put something on top of it like a moron
how would it go thru the cpu or gpu
@hekifierI agree. Infinite is a crap game, developed by Levine who is a certified looney tunes.
@hekifier One of the scariest games
@hekifierNot sure if trolling or just stupid.
@Jedi4ce28 Well said, personally I'M more concerned with making good quality games, and a great story than working about the those little individual tidbits that dont really make or break a game, just cause stupid discussions that turn into flame wars :/
If you don't know why RE2 was good, I dunno what to tell you. It was fun, had a ton of replayability and impressive graphics for it's time. It added just enough action while not getting too far away from the roots of the original game, Looking at it now then looking at recent RE games, you wouldn't be able to tell that which is a damn shame.
Responding to the Dead Space part, I think making a horror series is difficult because after the first one, you know what you're looking for and therefore aren't as scared. I enjoyed DS3, but I still agree with you.
i just couldnt help myself.
@2w-sephiroth I'll be getting The Evil Within on day 1. Survival horror is great when done right. So I 2nd that notion of Survival horror for the win.
@DWalker131 worst of all. that version has been confirmed.
I agree with all your points until the last paragraph. Just being a massive open world does not make a game good. Has very little to do with it at all really. Story, gameplay, immersion, all play a bigger roll than how big and free roaming the world you play in is. Several hundred hours of open world crap content is just that... crap. I'll take quality over sheer quantity every time.
@Battle_Pants lol...soup! haha
@ravenglass1 a form of cooliant? or fan goo?
@ravenglass1 Unless it leaks onto the fan and is pushed up through the grating?
@JetSetWally shoehorn? what was the guy a horse? yeesh! =)
@Gopstop2222 Actually I did. but unfortunatly one OK game doesn't redeem this pissant company in my eyes. They will forever be garbage and I will not touch any products they foul with their stench.
@Jedi4ce28 @Nev3rtime I know it had a huge number of fans. But of course people all like different games.
Graphically it was probably great for the ps1 but I played it on PC and it came out just a little before the brilliant and comparatively unsuccessful System Shock 2. I got them about the same time. System shock 2 went down as one of my favourite games of all time when RE2, one of the most hyped games of the era, I considered a big disappointment. I still played a fair amount of re2, though I never completed it.
I did like the opening. That seemed very cinematic for the time and got me pumped for the game. After the opening I felt disappointed when the bulk of the game took place stuck wandering around a boring police station.
Perhaps I'd think better of it if I had another play through (It's about 15 years since I first got it) but I don't see me doing that.
@blitzinD@Kinguard73 No you are absolute right. However I am talking the amount of content we should get for free. How many football games and fps that has maybe one eighth the content but we opay full price. Ever saw how even with the content all paid for it still did not take anywhere near the effort others put into their games.
We are paying for good /great gameplay and half assed created content.
@Nev3rtime @Jedi4ce28 Wow! RE2 is the best in the series & you hated it. I find that hard to believe. But to each his own. Resident Evil 2 is my favorite game of all time. I want a proper remake to come out but Capcom just isn't listening to the fans. Never played System Shock 2 but have heard great things about it. So I won't bash it.
