GS News Top 5 - Titanfall Won’t Run at 1080p + Flappy Bird Summarized!
Titanfall does not run at 1080p on Xbox One, Flappy Bird is explained, Warner Bros. won’t fix Batman: Arkham Origins, and do games ruin your morals?
by Edmond Tran on
The fact that people are willing to have last gen resolutions on games amazes me.
MS dropped the ball and that is why I wont be getting one
Titanfall is fun..... if you like dying every 30 seconds.
Played the beta, it does have some new concepts that helps it differentiate from all the other faceless shooters. I'll prob pick it up.
But Destiny is the one to wait for.
PC Gamer got Titanfall going at 7680x1440. ;) On a game like this, though, I expect a lot of PC gamers will be lowering the resolution and turning off graphic features to pump the framerate up. This looks like one where framerate is going to be trumping beauty.
Played the Titanfall beta on ONE this weekend. It's ridiculous how fun this game is and I'm generally target practice for other gamers. Still couldn't wipe the smile off my face.
I didn't need to play flappy bird to know I would hate it, but buying it online off someone's phone is plain stupid. Also why does WB think we are stupid enough to buy a game if it is buggy and broken but we should all buy DLC for it. As much as I would like to buy it as the other 2 games were awesome I cant justify buying it if doesn't work.
I want to see a video of these pixel junkies picking out which game is 720p vs 1080p without actually knowing, when they do the "comparison", they look like a bunch of idiots, Dumb: "Do you think the PC version looks better?" Dumber: "Umm, yea, I think, yea it looks...sharper...and stuff"
Due to my older model of TV, I've been playing my 360 in 720 for years. This doesn't bother me at all because i just LIKE PLAYING GAMES. Gameplay > Resolution.
titan fall is just for the no lifers you know the type house stinks because the shit bucket is always full looool
Been chosen to take part in the Xbox One Titanfall beta and my opinion is that the game looks great and runs great but there's absolutely no chance whatsoever for a "casual" shooter fan to enjoy these kind of multiplayer games as like 90% of the players must have been playing Battlefield/COD non-stop for like 10 years already!
I mean, as hard as I try I end up in the bottom of the list with like 1~2 kills and 8~12 deaths...
It sucks cause I actually think the game is great but that the time it would require to become competitive would be wayyy too long to be worth it...
I don't really know about morals with younger kids, but saying that younger kids are more impressionable than older ones. I just don't know if that counts for that age range. What I do know is that age ratings aren't just there to take up space. I wouldn't let my 13 year old play a M rated game, just like I wouldn't let them see an R rated movie. Unfortunately, it seems like all the games they wanna play are the ones that are rated M, kinda like how my little sister always complains about not being able to watch R rated movies because "they're the only ones she wants to see."
Then we see commercials for Frozen and The Lego Movie and make plans to see them, hahaha ^_^
Well we have age ratings for a reason stupid parent's fault if it corrupts their kids plus that study only surveys 14 year olds who are generally morally corrupt already, and WTF is with all these cool games not being able to run at 1080p on XB1, Don Mattrick is such a lying dick.
Well what do you expect; there are no good E/T-rated games being released out there anymore, unless you're in the Nintendo wagon (which isn't doing so well).
Quite a shame really because I did get to experience alot of lesser voilent games during the PS2/gamecube era. Sucks to be a new generation gamer...
kinda lame that an old engine with heavy mods can't run 1080p on a supposedly next gen system. Guess they shoulda stuck with the ps4?
The 13 and 14 year old's in this study all had one thing in common - their parents don't care what they are doing. Maybe that's why they lack empathy.
Or we could blame skateboarding and comic books, if we're just grabbing random things. I for one just caught bronchitis, and my Dr. couldn't tell me why. I think it must have been because I'm left handed and I like turtles.
titan fall looks pretty good, but really what is it other than another arena, team based shooter? seriously? the game looks fun don't get me wrong, but this is what ms thinks is going to be the defining game for the xone? really? no story. no substance. fun still, but shallow, and empty beneath the surface.
People will be people, and there are many factors for people learning bad or non-empathetic behavior. Games may be one such factor, but not a default "if you play this you will develop this behavior" type guarantee. It may contribute, but also maybe people already leaning in that direction choose to play such games.
If a psychopath buys a game, that didn't mean the game taught him to be psychopathic. There are atrocious things happening in countries where video games don't exist. Genocides, and bloody wars, with people hacking each other to pieces with machetes.
You do not need to be taught to be evil. Although it may be a contributing factor.
I use to listen to hard rock, and never felt hostile or negative from it, but it did have that effect on others. Everyone is different.
just one time, I wished one of those studies looked into TV shows, some games reward players for having low morales or empathy (I'm looking at you rust and dayz!), but it's the player's choice. meanwhile, ALL reality TV shows and game shows actively reward ans encourage people to act as jerks, betray each other, and simply break the law. and they know kids love these programs.
It's sounds like a rather dubious study to me. There are so many "studies" about all kinds of subjects that are poorly substantiated and motivated by a theory that has already been predetermined. No one has been able to get anything near definitive proof that gaming affects people's behaviour.
Those of you saying that the human eye cannot tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps really don't know what you're talking about.
I'd say YES! I am morally deficient and games helped me get there! I've been playing games since I was old enough to pick up a controller and I couldn't give two shits about helping my fellow man or pushing them into oncoming traffic. Games was definitely the Cause! Evil, Evil games!
..or maybe I was genetically predisposed to being this way or maybe it was due to the environment I grew up in and games were an outlet to crave my appetite for destruction without actually hurting people in the real world and maybe if i didn't have this outlet I would inevitably unleash these feelings in the real world.
Truth is still a mystery.. You decide which one is the right answer
Flappy Bird: Downloaded the game 2 days ago and am enjoying it (thanks to Jailbroken iPhone). Not frustrating at all, just addictive. Not nearly the most difficult game out there either.
Would love to punch those selling their iPhones on eBay for $1000s. Someone needs to inform the bidders of iOS Jailbreak.
Wow, Xb1 really is a piece of shit. 720p. . .er I mean 792p. . oh 900p. Haha. It better run at 240fps.
@Zloth2 I've got a 5760X1080 set-up with dual HD6970's and it runs the BETA smoothly even when there is a lot going on (everything maxed except AA, full FOV.) I'm really impressed by the optimization. My only problem with the set up is the mini map is static. I would like the option to shift it to my center monitor. It is hard to keep in your peripheral vision with it all the way in the corner.
I am surprised the 'NEXT GEN' console can't even get to 1920X1080 on what should be an anchor game for the XBone.
@UNCStriker88 Its easy to tell the difference on a HD projector actually, People who can't need their eyes testing
@UNCStriker88 low res is like your mom's face... but srsly imagine u wore thick glasses and looking without it. thats the difference right there dumbass
@UNCStriker88 Most wouldn't be able to.
@Merseyak loooolololol! So funny! Judging people based on their video game of choice! Must be in middle school!
@Silv3rSt0rm82 I think its like a lot of fps games to be honest, in that you need to learn your way around the maps and where you are most likely to be picked off/sniped etc..it takes a few hours but it is worth it as it is a great game! :)
@Silv3rSt0rm82 It does have a bit of a learning curve, but once you get your loadouts sorted and you find your groove you will find yourself on the top of the boards in no time. :D Don't be discouraged!
@ZephyrEden The thing is that it's unlikely the fault of the games themselves. Murder is bad, but soldiers are heroes. They do the same things but in one instance, it's ok and in the other it isn't. It's the context that changes the situation. But if a child isn't being provided with context, then they may never see the difference.
They didn't show causation, just correlation. I suspect you'll find that the children who play violent games are also more likely to play games alone, spend less time with their parents and other family members, etc. It's actually a fact that the biggest influence in a teenager's life is actually their parents and not their friends or public figures.
@robbiejones old engine? heavy mods? your meds?
@robbiejones Nah, its just like the ps3 all over again, the hardware is powerful enough but they just dont understand fully how to unleash the power. It'll happen, its very early days :)
@translucent17 feel the same , kinda like when you first play tribes it's amazing skiing and jet packing in the air , then after 30-50 hours it is just another online FPS. To be honest thief looks like it will be more fun then titanfall imho, I have 10 fps shooters that I hardly play anymore , I am getting tired of shooters that you lvl up in.
@GameYakuza I stop with network tv when sienfied went off the air , more brainwashing and forced advertising on TV . My 5 yr old picks to watch video game walkthough on you tube instead of TV.
@EvalKaneval just what I was going to say :o
You know it's only going to be 30fps.
XBOne is one big great failure that only Microsoft and fanboys can defend.
@jcogopogo the idea of fallout being an online game really intrigues me, I just don't know if it would be the same without the lonesome, desolate feel it has as a single player.
@Nube36 I don't doubt that this game is fun, personally im bored with the genre. MS had/has halo, and in its time, was revolutionary. but halo wasn't just a online shooter, it was story driven, cooperative, engrossing and involving gameplay. I hear so much talk of this game being MS new blockbuster like halo was and I just don't see it. I'm giving you a thumbs up because your name is nube.... happy saturday
@Ferric24 @ECH71 @SnakeEyesX80
I think you're confusing software with hardware.
GTA V is popular because of great gameplay but that's thanks to creative software.
The hardware vendors have only one job, to provide more powerful hardware to allow for better graphics, frame-rates, physics, etc.
For software, graphics isn't everything, but as far as consoles go, graphics is virtually everything.
I haven't even mentioned the price you pay for such a small boost in graphics capability if you go with the XBOne.
