GS News Top 5 - Titanfall “game changing”; What’s up with Watch Dogs?
We dig into political ads on Xbox Live, whether Ubisoft have downgraded Watch Dogs graphics, and just how important is Titanfall to the Xbox One?
by Jess McDonell on
Can't believe she's still here -- she's probably great at other things, but positively abysmal at newscasting. Talks WAY too fast and the accent, which I assume is forced, makes it hard to understand her. I just wish she'd slow down when she talks. But, alas, we all know why she was hired -- for her above-average-girl-gamer look. I'm sorry, but it's just the truth.
Yeah I really doubt that "downgraded" version was a real one or if it be released. No one would downgrade game THAT much. Its somehow made it look like that or its some kind of PC version with lowest specs and turned off everything whats possible.
I just checked out some of the footage comparisons regarding Watchdogs. Holy crap! It seriously looks worse than GTA4. Just saying the claim is false doesn't address the video that we can all see.
Ubisoft should prove it. Make another video in the manner of the 2012 reveal gameplay footage and show us what changed and what didn't. Of course gameplay is much more important and it's fine the way it looks, but this is the only way this debate will stop until launch. Did they lie to us or not?
It's not up for debate. It's a fact. The footage of Watch Dogs that we have most recently been shown looks *miles* apart from what we've seen previously.
The only explanation that isn't blatant lies and deceptive marketing is that it was 360/PS3 footage. If that was "next-gen", I shudder to think what the old consoles look like -- good god.
This whole shitstorm is so easily allayed, Ubisoft. Just show us some *current* gameplay running on the Xbox One/PS4. It's that simple. If "the graphics haven't changed", then you should have no qualms rolling out a few minutes of free-roam. Of course, if you're full of shit and the game looks like the absolute garbage we're seeing now, then you won't do this, and you'll wait for release, praying that enough people will be suckered into buying this bomb.
Your move, Ubisoft.
they have downgraded the graphics in a big way to add multiplayer and squeeze it on last gen machines its going to look and run like gta 5 dose and thats a waste of next gen machines
They clearly downgraded the graphics. I's just not up for debate. One video shows a game that looks like the original Saints Row and the other shows a game that looks revolutionary. Either release more footage to prove it's not downgraded or admit to it. I'm tired of the lies in marketing. Some still images I've seen are so low-res that they look like they were taken on a PS2.
The game was literally why I got next-gen, and now I'm not even planning on buying it until at least two weeks after release (to let all the problems, if there are any, be reported by the preorder people). I just don't like being misled this way.
the top of Jess' head was missing at the end of that... and I couldn't even read the Tshirt
Political add oh how fun... does this mean I have to see Aussie Pollies telling us bs on our game start ups? :(
I was worried that teso was going to be pretty popular but after seeing most of the comments on this site im pretty sure its going to do pretty bad because of the subscription. hopefully it will be another kotor.
Political ads on Xbone dashboard is so "american way".
Looking closely at the Watchdogs little footage presented here it surely looks they downgraded the graphics.
Hi Jess! ;D
Watchdogs is a beau! But still, it is a make or break situation for the game, since it was delayed for "better gaming experience".
Witcher 3 is another one to watch. ;D
And Please, no political ads on ANY gaming consoles, or else, I will just destroy the crapload out of the console, even it is innocent, a very much Mythbusters way. =D
Nice work again, Jess!
of course the first video of watch dog was a Pc build and i wasnt expect the graphic to be like that on consoles be it ps4 n xbox0ne,i mean these are new consoles the company will show the fully potential of the consoles anyways the game still looks good
I am a fan of gaming but Titainfall is an example of hype.
Watchdogs who cares??
Witcher 3 well more time means more game=ok.
advertisting in games NO on gov stuff in them, games are games life is life. They need to show that Gov is still for the people by the people instead of new ad venues.
anyone bleieved what they showed about watchdogs till now is actual real time garaphics is an idiot ... sure its possible with cryengine on an up to date pc for instance, but no developer in the world would invest that much into breakthrough graphics nowadays, when you can cash in enough with things like Titanfall ...
Titanfall is great, but I think it will go the way of COD, which is it will be for those that spend a ton of time on it, leaving out people who just pick it up here and there. What I don't understand is, same as COD, why not at least TRY to have matchmaking? They already keep track of all your stats and ranks. Why not use that to pair up people who are similar? Why not have that as at least an option for people to be able to opt in or out of? I just played a game where everyone on the other team was level 40 or higher, and everyone on my team was 20 or lower. To me, that's kind of like taking a high school basketball team and have them take on the Miami Heat. It's not fun or competitive, and will actually probably start turning off some people. And considering it's multiplayer only, it means people not buying the next game. Titanfall is fun, but I think it will be ruined, as a lot of multiplayer games are, by it being taken over by the hardcore base.
While I'm playing Titanfall, and enjoying it, I don't know if it's Game Changing. I'm not normally an online FPS type. So I can't compare. It's fun never the less. I do get owned most of the time, but doesn't stop it being playable for those of us that are slower with the trigger finger.
That could be considered dumbed down by the hard core mobs? Like I give a ffff...as long as i'm having fun.
OMG, my computer didn't freeze for 5 minutes and go haywire for another 20 minutes before I was able to post a comment.
Why would anyone want to post a comment at this site unless they're a masochist?
At least some is going to keep those hard core video gamers informed. And it's a good money making avenue too. At least Microsoft knows how to make money unlike Sony.
Elder Schrolls fees
Punishment for all those people who care about Elder
Schrolls and on-line only games. Punish them harder please.
Witcher 3 delay
Who cares? I support the delay too.
Watch Dogs said by some to have reduced visuals
"Lies spread will spread half way around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
Who cares? Big money make yes and GameSpot did a great job of promoting almost everday on GSNews. So why do the cry babies call GS News SonySpot?
I don't know about "game changing"...lol. Whether you're in the Titan or on the ground the only thing you see are two hands and a gun in front of you and they still couldn't get more than 6 vs 6 in a multiplayer only game; hype has died down really quick with this piece of 'innovation'.
I think Watch Dogs will shift more consoles overall than Titanfall since Titanfall to anyone who hasn't played it is just a FPS and one which you can run on walls in. Not really something demanding next gen hardware.
But Watch Dogs is a massive open world, one that promises to take many hours from you and a that is the perfect candidate in my opinion for a first game.
Not to mention Watch Dogs comes out in about May? So that is decent enough to get people through a proportion of the summer and then once that is over the games will start flooding before Christmas. So why not?
Otherwise you can just buy that and some of the releases later this year at the same time. I'm sure there will be a bundle of some sort later and possibly even another price drop from Microsoft and possibly even a tad from Sony though I wouldn't hold my breath with Sony.
By the way had anyone in the UK noticed Amazon is currently selling the Xbox One for £380? That means it is only £30 more expensive than the PS4! Without any games that is.
As soon as Bethesda lifts the NDA I'll let you know exactly how I feel about the Elder Scrolls Online and why I don't think it's worth a subscription fee.
@jjleshko90 People like you are exactly what is wrong with the internet. Your entire post is about slagging off Jess, there is not one mention of any game or news article covered in this program.
To be critical of a person because of any distinguishing detail that relates to where they are from is tantamount to pure racism. Then to basically say " you have no talent but make good eye candy" is an extremely sexist thing to write.
Jjleshko you are pure slime and I sincerely hope that you are sterile so you can not infect the world with your obviously retarded and poisonous genes.
@jjleshko90 her accent? you know she's Australian right? Jess is a nice gal, be nice to her.
@jjleshko90 How about you take your ignorant opinions elsewhere jjleshko. I think Jess Mcdonell does a great job at newscasting for Gamespot. Not all gamers are this ignorant. You assume her accent is forced? What the hell is wrong with you? She is speaking clearly and it very easy to understand her. Don't watch these videos if you are too dumb to understand her. I don't know why Americans need to make our country look so bad. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK JESS.
@grin89 It's good in what it is. However, if you're going in with the expectations of playing an actual Elder Scrolls game, you will be highly disappointed. On that note though, I've been done with MMOs for years. $15 a month after dropping $60 for the game, no thanks. Just follow GuildWars outlook. Charge for the game, then watch as millions of people love it. For a year subscription to ESO it will cost you $240 give or take a few (that includes the game itself). A bit overpriced, don't ya think?
@morderwrath The Witcher 3 getting bumped to next year blows, but whatever. As long as it's quality like the other 2 I'm cool with that. However, I'm really interested in Watchdogs. I think the premise is pretty cool and the fact that the game is 35-40 hours long means it's not a "cash grab" for some mindless entertainment. I'm looking forward to checking it out when it's released.
You clearly have no clue what your talking about, your just echoing what you think you've read others say but it doesn't make much sense. You think cryengine is the only thing capable of quality games? It also sounds like you think the footage shown at e3 was pre rendered, otherwise I'm not sure what you mean by real time graphics. Either way your wrong, the early footage was definately real time in engine gameplay, probably on a good PC, and on the watch dogs engine, not cryengine. So indeed it is capable of it, the question is will the final product look like the original game play?, and no it probably won't but that has nothing to do with the engine and everything to do with the power or lack of power from the consoles the game is being developed for and because of this the over all quality of the game had to be downgraded to get it to run on the lowest common denominator which in this case is the last gen consoles. Do some research before you start trying to echo what you hear others say it makes you sound like a dummy to those that know. I wouldn't be so harsh on you if you hadn't tried to insult people, calling THEM idiots, with YOUR complete lack of knowledge.
@hitomo It was the game at the time, till they realized the couldn't pull it off
@balto70 totally agree. its not that you dont want to play against good people either but its off putting when like on friday me n my m8s are all level 10 ish and get put in a game with 3 people who had prestiged 3 times already and we basically got out shit handed to us for about 6 games straight. skill based match making cant be that hard to implement
@balto70 Dude, Titanfall is a severely dumbed down and simplified COD(which is saying something considering how dumped down COD is) with mechs. Not to mention you can reach the max level in under 5 hours. There is absolutely no challenge or substance in Titanfall. If this is considered game changing this generation of consoles probably will be the end of console gaming.
P.S Harcore gamers find game like Titanfall, Battlefield 3&4, and COD to be complete crap because there is no challenge. So you you don't have to worry about hardcore gamers taking over
@SaintsRowLA Because most people don't have such problems posting here.
@SaintsRowLA While I'm not a fan of paying a monthly fee for ESO, given the massive scale and high quality of the game, the fee is warranted.
@SaintsRowLA CDPR shareholders care for delay of The Witcher 3. Stock price dropped about 23% in 3 days. :(
@kutulu1 agreed nothing really more to it. Good game but not this game of the year that everyone seems to think. No story mode nothing to care about it enough. It's similar to COD more so than people think only in COD there isnt parqour (wall running) Plays vastly the same aside from that this breathe of fresh air just doesnt seem to exist for me.
@Dannystaples14 I find myself agreeing with the Watch Dogs/Titanfall thing. I can't even get my PC-gaming friends to buy it... They don't even have to invest the 500 dollars or whatever the Xbox One is priced. Maybe they are just uncommonly stubborn, (which is very likely. They are getting on my nerves sometimes lol) but I think you're right when you say that it just looks like another shooter to anyone who hasn't played it.They all talk about how they are gonna buy Watch Dogs when it gets out though.
@lonewolf315 The NDA was lifted a month ago.
@lonewolf315 You can let people know, they've not been enforcing the NDA for at least two weeks now. I can honestly say it's the best MMO I've ever played but they have made some compromises on a few things that don't make it quite as good as Skyrim for a solo player in my opinion.
That opinion could change but overall I think what they've built is a refreshing retake on the MMO genre.
@Kunakai @lonewolf315 That is quite a fitting user image considering the topic of discussion.
You said it wasn't as fun as Skyrim solo, personally I have many issues with Skyrim in general that put me off it quite a bit.
Would you say it was any more like Oblivion or Morrowind in that case? Or is it just a departure from Elder Scrolls in general?
