GS News Top 5 - Google Buying Twitch For $1 BILLION; Huge Games Delayed!
Google continues to conquer the internet, Battlefield and Dragon Age get delayed, and The Order: 1886 explains why it needs to be on the PS4.
by Edmond Tran on
google buying twitch OK but if they bring in a policy that is similar to what they did on youtube that will be bad
Dragon Age 2 sure was a huge disappointment storywise. Making everyone in it bisexual did not help either, that was freakish as hell!
Why turn medieval fantasy heroes into girlie men?
The reason why The Order: 1886 had to be on PS4 is because Sony paid for it. That's it. That's all.
Crytek said the same thing about Ryse and Xbox One.
isnt it like a monopoly to buy out all your competition or something like that? google just buys everything
Hey Gamespot, can you publish to Vimeo instead of (or in addition to) Google and use their player on this site? Oh and stop requiring Adobe Flash to view your videos? Thanks.
I searched for Gamespot on Vimeo but all I got was this topless news presenter showing off her boobies (I kid you not)! Pretty sure it wasn't Jess though.
I can't stand google. It made youtube worse, and I find that bing gets me what I am searching for faster " plus I get a gamestop card every other month from points earned"
I really don't use Twitch and I don't care about it, but I guess they will be annoyed once Google starts to do the same thing they did with Youtube: Force Google Plus and use some stupid content Id system which is totally against the guys sharing stuff
To me this thing with google reminds me of the Simpsons ep when MR. Burns bought all media in sprinfield!
well, if they dont screw up alot of stuff and are annoying then its fine if google takes the reigns. except ESPN has done this and made sports a madhouse of sensationalism and anything but sports. I would boycott that company if i could. the liberal themes are ok in some situations but it is becoming a mindless drive, just like all biased media IMO.
I want a feed of awesome plays and sports standings and updates. THAT IS ALL I WANT. why is this so hard to understand? oh yeah, so you can sell more. what is this about? selling boring crap or pleasing your core audience? losers.....
I don't mind Google b/c unlike MS they're not a monopoly. I invested Baidu, the Chinese google, and it has doubled. Korea has Naver. But mostly everyone uses crap MS windows 8/7. I wouldn't invest in Google as one share of the stock costs the price of a used car.
Anyway, NovembaH? Why can't Aussies and Brits pronounce Rs at the end of words? You can see the R there written!.And don't give me the "thought" argument - that thing would be impossible to pronounce phonetically.
Oh, and that dude in Dragon Age looks like pioneering reliever Rollie Fingers.
Twitch & Google
If it's good for Jess, then it's good for me.
If Jess is happy with it, then I'm happy.
If Jess is unhappy, then I'm unhappy.
Thank you Jess. You're Lovely.
"damn good search engine" .... ha ha ha ha
Always pleased to hear a company is going to spend more time on a game, too many are put out halfa$$ed.
What is a "Twitch"?
is dragon age iniquisition going to have those same awful controls where you have to hold down right click for HOURS just so the camera follows your player?
the devs of the order 1886 kinda irk me. first they try to say 30fps is an artistic choice to make it look closer to movies (only if they mean claymation movies, since live action movie frames and videogame frames are inherently different), then they say no one's done a game in that setting before. yeah, steampunk london and british werewolves are so extremely original, it's unheard of.
as for google buying twitch, good god no. i'm not one of those doomsayers that think google is the worst thing in the world, but come on, there needs to be some competition in the market. monopolies aren't nice for anyone.
To say it again, good for DA to wait, don't be another Fallout New Vegas (or since it was mentioned on the site, Kotor 2).
I don't care what Google does with it's money, they have to do something. I just wish their software didn't infest my phone quite so much.
@ECH71 Please elaborate how they ruined YouTube. Since they bought Youtube they streamlined it, made HD videos possible (2k+ resolution), added 60FPS capability for videos, added more revenue platforms for creators, and more.
So once again, how is adding usability and increasing quality of videos ruining it?
@dannydopamine8 Twitch isn't a competitor of youtube. Also internet monopolies don't have much of a precedence yet. Twitch isn't the only streaming service and there are dozens of websites that offer similiar features.
@dannydopamine8 ummmmmm......i DON'T think twitch is challenging google in the search engine field. nor do i think google actually stream anything.
@simonmetcalf I haven't really looked at Vimeo in ages, but I had no idea it allowed nudity :).
@dmblum1799 "I don't mind Google b/c unlike MS they're not a monopoly."
I stopped reading from that point pretty much. Seriously though, where have you been in the world to make such an ignorant statement like that lol?
a@dmblum1799 Hey! That's nice! Usually it's us Bostonians catching flack for the whole "R" thing =). It's a nice change of pace =)
@spacecadet25 I approve of your avatar picture, good sir.
@waelse1 another Fallout New Vegas? It was awesome, unless you mean the console versions. The PC version tends to fare better on BethesdaSW's games. (Though FNV was developed by Obsidian but with FO3's engine)
@waelse1 i was all for fcuking everything that moved in the new DA:I game till i saw that the combat looks (now i can't be sure) copy and paste from da2. no spell combo, as i saw in the latest vid someone getting iced and then hit hard and it said shatter damage. booooo that was one of the things they were suppose to fix aaaagh instead we get a more detailed fcuk scenes
FNV was awesome, after they came out with a big bug-fix release nearly a year after it came out. They should never have released it with so many problems (see the GameSpot review for their take).
Kotor 2 was OK but needed more work if it were to be comparable to Kotor 1.
@spacecadet25 @suppaphly42 really!? but no like
finding awful hard to think that was genuine without one ;)
@waelse1 Haha, I'm actually replaying New Vegas on Hardcore mode right now :D What a fantastic game! It's still pretty easy though, as long as you stay away from deathclaws and cazadores :P
@suppaphly42 There you go...
@suppaphly42 Hmmm, the Fat Man and mini nukes are quite heavy, but I'm sure Boone doesn't mind carrying them for me :P
