I guess this would be a good promotion if I bought a PS3 and never got around to purchasing a single game. Otherwise this stink of "OMG!? Sony is bringing in backwards compatibility to their PS4 in a soon to release patch and we've got NOTHING to counter with on XBox One!" desperation. I wouldn't throw away hundreds if not thousands of dollars already invested on PS3 games to end up with a library of games I can no longer play just to get a scant $100.00 off an Xbox One.

But people want these things so much developers who seek to reach that goal often ditch things such as

High Dynamic Range Rendering

Motion Blur

Distortion Effects

Texture Transparency

Soft Light Bloom

Advanced Ambient Occlusion

And it's absolute MADNESS

People are such elitists about high frame rate standards, but this elitism ironically ignores the more advanced and nuanced things that make graphics truly great.

Some games can run 1080p and 60 fps on PS4, but PS4 is still inferior as well when its about PC gaming..

But PS4 is the better platform then Xbox One.

Yes, frame rate and resolution does matter, and that is why I shifted to PC for the last generation. I see no need to change now, but if I get a new system, it would be the PS4, for this reason and others.

Don't worry about 1080p and framerates? As a PC gamer I find this freaking laughable.

I don't mean to sound elitist, but I've been playing 1080p on 60fps for years now. The improvement over 720p on 30fps is absolutely insane, and I could never go down to those setting without being payed to.

If Microsoft is going to call this machine "next-gen", and then struggle to deliver a simple 1080p with moderate frames experience, they've got to be kidding themselves. Then, even worse, they come out and tell people not to care about it? This hardware is beyond inferior. People should care.

Microsoft is tired of hearing about their inferior resolution and frame rates. They say it doesn't really matter. Riiiiiight. So if it was the other way around, Microsoft wouldn't be like "hey, we've got better resolution AND better frame rates than the PS4! We're clearly better!"

It's clearly a way to try to keep their fanbase afloat and give them something to say when they are presented with that clearly significant imbalance between the two consoles.

The "ditch your PS3" is just a huge, desperate mistake. It not only acknowledges their competitor's hardware which is desperate all on its own, but it's basically saying "hey, Sony fans and PS3 owners, sell us your PS3 for $100 and then our product will seem reasonably priced! Don't worry about your ENTIRE collection of PS3 games. Now you can play Ryse WHILE watching basketball! Clearly that's better than being able to play ANY PS3 game you own."

It all just demonstrates the desperation of Microsoft, which reveals their lack of confidence in their console and reveals their awareness that they're losing the console war.

Funny that Microsoft feels the need to to a PR stunt based on old PS3s. It implies that they have doubts as to whether or not the XBOX-exclusive titles will be enough lure people to buy their console instead of the PS4

I bought a PS4 over the weekend, and I have to say that that will likely be the console I do most of my gaming on, especially if there will be a resolution and frame rate difference between the two. I played Assassins Creed on the Xbox One and was honestly a little disappointed in the visuals. After spending time with the PS4 though, I really wish I had waited and played that game on the PS4 to see if it was better. I would be curious to play Tomb Raider on the Xbox One to see if I would feel the same way. On the PS4, it's gorgeous.

Gears of War really never grabbed me enough to care what they do with it. The first was technically impressive and fun. The second was good but fairly forgettable. The third was better, but when it was over, I just felt like I was tired of the whole Gears world. Even after I finished the game, I never really thought there was that much of a memorable story involved.

When u play online shooters higher res and frame rate does help and im sayin that from experience.

I think it's absolutely terrible that Microsoft is criticizing the importance of frames per second(FPS) in video games. Most game developers put more value and more time into visual presentation than any other aspect.They would compromise all of that work because they think FPS is not important? Talking about FPS all the time might get old, but it does not make it less important.

Get competing with Nintendo Wii U price and I'll consider buying a Xbone, only because I want to play Kingdom hearts <3.<3

well of course it'd be better if its 1080p@60fps, only reason MS would say it doesn't matter because Xbone can't do 1080p/60fps. 720p/60fps is however a fair compromise. I'd rather higher framerate than higher res in this instance. Nah Im keeping my PS3..still catching up games on it. Been missing alot of HoH live - no time. :(

A: If I was not able to attain 1080/60fps... I guess I'd say it doesn't matter as well.

B: Ryse IS the best looking horrible game out there, it's true.

C: Eve Online, such an awesomely large and difficult game. Played it for 4 years and it's still the top of my gaming experience.

I would have hoped the Kinect would have it own dedicated CPU and memory. Microsoft is supposed to free up more of the reserved Kinect memory for game developers can use at their discretion to improve frame rates. That's the way it should have been from the start.

I'll get a PS4 and hold off on getting an Xbox One for a while.

*Cyberpunk 2077* That looks tantalizing. "A true RPG and not a multiplayer shooter" It sounds great. It sounds Mass Effect-ish. I rarely play on-line, but Mass Effect 3 was perhaps the most fun on-line games I've played along with Gears of War 3. No stress, jut fun.

"Best looking game" Looks do matter somewhat, but looks aren't everything. Best looking isn't everything. The game has to be interesting, fun, the drugery and tedium kept to a minimum. inFAMOUS, NHL 14, Saints Row 2, 3, and 4 are far from being the best looking games but they are fun and addicting.

The best looking games on the PS3 IMO are "The Price is Right" and "Family Feud" and "Back to the Future" downloadable game. They look great because not much is every happening on screen. The Back to the Future Game looks great, but it will bore you to tears.

I also think its great how Sony may have PS1 emulation for the PS4. It always good to have a few PS1 games around in case Poison Control tell you to induce vomiting ASAP!!!

Actually, only 75 Titans were destroyed (that is still a stupidly large amount), but there were hundreds of other capital ships that were destroyed (carriers, supercarriers, and dreadnaughts). Also, it was a 21hr international battle in which over 7500 players participated, either in the main battle or related battles, and they were part of 717 corporations divided into 55 alliances, all under 4 coalitions.

Yes, battles like this are the kind of thing that makes Eve the most interesting game that I will probably not start playing again.

LOL MS says frame rate does not matter but i bet the 2nd gen XB1 will run on par with ps4 frame rate
