A Kardashian game? Sounds like the perfect candidate for House of Horrors.

A go with namco Bandai just for releasing Tales of Xillia 2 over here. This will be replaced by NIS once they release another SRPG

The fact that some stupid app can make 200 million dollars so quickly makes me fear for the future of AAA games. I mean what's the incentive for companies to pour millions of dollars into developing and releasing interesting and artistic IP's when a cheap game engine that couldn't of taking much time or money to develop makes so much money so quickly.

I've been living abroad for most of the past 10 years. One advantage is that I have no idea who these Kardashians are.

Certainly not Ubisoft! Their blatant disrespect for PC gamers is shocking.

I agree with OZXPAT, Watch Dogs has an abysmal story & protagonist. The story would have been much more interesting had it involved a former CIA operative turned whistleblower who is on the run for spilling the beans on the USA's nefarious political & corporate dealings. The costume that Aiden dons is quite ridiculous in that it immediately draws attention to him. Surely it would have made sense for him to have the option of wearing disguises which could have led to some interesting customization opportunities.

Favourite publisher, it hasn't been a great year so far so no one springs to mind. Maybe Bethesda (Wolfenstein) or Nintendo for the obvious. Although you have to give credit to the company that produced that god awful looking Kardashian game (from a business perspective). The mainstream tend to lap up this kind of crap & they have taken full advantage of this. What a sad society we live in!

Anything but Ubisoft for my favourite dev - this week; Spike Chunsoft actually got most of my attention as I continue to push for the Dangan Ronpa platinum. I heard a GameInformer journalist praise Ubisoft for their compelling writing this week, something I still cannot fathom. The writing in WatchDogs was impressively bad, and I am really confused as to why a bit of graphical polish gets more attention than the narrative drivel that results from writing by committee. I agree with the Microsoft study that claims characters are more important than plots in an open world game, but Aiden was awful. He had no personality, no morality, no consistency and never once showed that he was capable of considering the potential consequences of his actions. Truly the least likeable character I've played since Cratos in GoW. Even the Gears meatheads had a dash of self awareness.

Can someone explain an alternative viewpoint to me? Is it that other people actually liked the writing, or does bad writing just hurt the experience more for me than it does for others? (If I'm not convinced by a character or a story I will come out hating the game - the plot doesn't have to be "real", but each character must posses "emotional resonance". That is, they must react believably to their potentially unbelievable circumstances.)

What kind of person actually buys the Kardashian game?

Microsoft -- A product and platform company

Technology innovated from one area can be used for other areas of the company.

That's just like the military, many technology things available were first developed for the military and the space shuttle program then made its way to civilian use.

Kim K.

There's nothing special about her.  Maybe many other people think she "hot" not to me.

I did agree with one line she stated in Kim & Khloe Take Miami, "dating is the worst invention ever made. . ."  I've never dated anyone in my life.  I spend [quality] time with the person.

100 million playstations sold and yet Sony is only worth around 17 million. Here I thought I was bad with money....

In the Kim Kardashian game, are there, you know...unlockable video cutscenes?

(sorry)

Lol, the not-quite-expected cynicism gave me a good laugh :) Accurate enough, to be sure.

It's basically the equivalent of making a big shiny button that says "To spend Mommy's money, click here -->". Boom, guaranteed $200m.

And to think, I could've traded my self-worth away for money years ago; Kim Kardashian is special alright.

Why add 7th and 8th generation sales together? Shouldn't each generation be treated seperately?

Also, I think the K.K game should be treated like flash games (those in facebook, etc); NOT VIDEO GAMES. They have as much in common with "true" videogames as conventional cars have with Formula1.

@Ferric24 Replace "stupid app" with "movie tie-in" and it's the same issue.  There will always be shovelware, but it won't command $60 and it sure won't move even one console.  As long as a well done blockbuster can sell big, we will still get them.

NiteX
NiteX

@Ferric24 You wouldn't think there would be that many sell outs.  Sure EA would jump on that in a second, but that really doesn't mean they would completely abandon consoles.

@dmblum1799  No one does.  They're random humans put on TV, famous for being famous.  That's why Jess aptly called her "Mrs. Kanye West".

@howiex89 Going to be slow news for the next two months unfortunately. The games and news don't start rocking again till at least the end of August early September when there are actually games coming out. Called the Summer Drought or other things along those lines. Always happens after E3 when everyone goes on holiday or whatever.

@bourne714 Sony is worth only 17 Mil? I know the whole financial system is pretty messed up at its core but that can't be right.

@Dark_Mits The line between "true" and non is pretty blurry now a days. Only reason to distinguish the 2 is to make "true" players feel better. Fact is she and the publisher are gonna make a ton of cash from tween girls, for the most part, playing her game.

Awesome! Hope it was something good! A good beer, wine, or my favorite, whisky!

I just sat through a class in which several 8-11 year olds (my son included) presented the games they made with Game Magic Center? I think....Anyways, they had more value in their games then this Kardashian game!

That's all! I'm out!

@B0NES96  My hope is that it's Kayne West making the purchases to prove to us all that his wife is not what we all know her to be a talentless hobbit.

Then you are going to have a hard time living the rest of your life - lots of people out there doing "nothing" (as you perceive it) and getting money for that.

@Gelugon_baat @B0NES96 You're defending Kim. His comments seem to have upset you. So maybe you're her biggest fan. So you'd play her game.

Yet which statement of mine is in Kardashian's defense, really? Do point it out.

B0NES96
B0NES96

@Gelugon_baat @B0NES96  "lots of people out there doing "nothing" (as you perceive it) and getting money for that."

The bit in the parenthesis implies that you believe that she does do more than nothing to get money. So you're arguing his point that she does nothing. Meaning you're defending her.

Gelugon_baat
Gelugon_baat

@B0NES96

The remark that "she does nothing" is nothing more than a figure of speech. Do you really think that she does absolutely nothing to get that money?

B0NES96
B0NES96

@Gelugon_baat @B0NES96 No of course not. That's not the point. I'm sure Racho34 said that meaning that she works very little to get huge amounts of money. But your parenthesis makes it seems that you disagree with him. Do you disagree with him on that point or not?

Gelugon_baat
Gelugon_baat

@B0NES96 @Gelugon_baat

Does that statement of mine even - somehow - exude disagreement? :/

Alright, if you want clarification, that's not disagreement on my part.

With that said, you are seeing implied meanings where there are none.
