GS News - Sony Makes 41.8m Profit; PlayStation Now Beta Launches!
Sony want your feedback on PlayStation Now while they roll in their piles of PlayStation money, and Capcom is hoisted up by Dead Rising 3 sales!
hey jess, first time i've watched your vids in awhile and i've noticed you've calmed and slowed down your speech. much much better imo. sexy
Who would rent a game for 4 hours..? Pretty sure they just put that mark on there so they could put the low low price on the front of the game.
Somehow I never expected PS Now to cost so much, especially when you're playing an inferior streamed version of games. Physical media will continue to be king well into the PS5 era. $8 for a one month rental of something that now sits in the bargain bin? Good luck with that.
Wow, Sony! Are you serious with those charges for your Playstation Now service? I mean, if we would talk about recently published games, alright. But for those old shelf huggers? Man, you're gettin' kinda greedy, huh?
Don't really care I own all the ps3 stuff and about 6 games I haven't even played. I've been loving PS4. I'm lazy and I haven't gotten my ps4 controller to work with ps3 but eventually I will.
Btw if you play the last of us on Ps4 remastered USE HEADPHONES. The sound is phenomenal.
The rental prices for Playstation Now are not good at all. Hopefully after some feedback, Sony will adjust them to something more reasonable. Even then I doubt I'd ever resort to renting games; I'd rather just buy them and keep them for the long run.
Aside from that, it's good that they're making a profit again. We need all our players in this console game to be fit so the competition is stronger (so that we gamers benefit more). Part of that, and part of winning over more fans, is to offer a better service. PS+ is great so far, but Playstation Now still needs work before it gets to where it needs to be.
I would paying anything more than £10 for it some of the prices are close to half the retail price for the permanent game
really not interested in Playstation Now or any other digital gaming content..it's overpriced.
they're ripping folk off.
Of course everyone would like to see the PS now prices drop, but my issue is that none of the offered games interest me. I am not wasting 5 bucks to see if the streaming quality is acceptable. The prices need to be dropped a little and there needs to be a much better selection of games.
I want to buy the games on PlayStation Now as well. I hope they have the option to buy and own.
I see the appeal of renting some games, but I would like to buy, download and own the game on my console as an option.
I have to be honest the PS Now prices are daylight robbery, also I thought it was to stream PS3 games we already brought of the PSN store?
If Capcom wants to start making profit again ..... Dead Rising 3 for PS4. Capcaom backed the wrong console this time around, it would make more sense from a sales standpoint to release for PS4 as it currently has a bigger install base than that of the Xbox One.
1. PlayStation never. Sorry but call total BS I won't pay for. They want our opinion? we have been telling them and they are ignoring it. they want this to go and we will answer with our wallets. Opened and closed.
2.Capcom got lucky with Street Fighter and Resident Evil. They are pretty much screwed now.
3. That is great news; too bad the huge loss from PlayStation now investment is going to take most of it away.
I am not willing to pay anything in it's current format. Who could create a better emulator app for the PS4 than Sony themselves? The PS4 should be potent enough to emulate the games so gives use a license and call it a day already... or sell us PS1 and 2 games because most of my games I want from them anyways.
Money Money Money Money Money Money Money Money Money Money...... how about some god damn next gen games all i have is one game for my ps4 and got it when the ps4 came out
Capcom still surprised ? Look at all the staff you lost
Keiji Inafune, shiniji mikami, hideki kamiya, clover studios (Platinum games)
41 million profit?? OH so now they can pay off 1/100 th of their pending debt although sony's credit rating still remains as junk. LOL
@xboxinsanity Since the average gamer is now in their 30's many of us don't have as much time to play due to work and/or familial responsibilities. A 4 hour rental also makes sense for people who want to try a game out before buying it. That said, most of the other prices for the service are too high imo and will almost certainly be reduced when P.S. Now officially launches.
An option to pay a reasonable monthly fee for complete access to every game would be awesome as well. Although I seriously doubt that will available at launch, if ever.
5 million xbox sales and 6 billion in net income for Microsoft, while Sony's credit still holds a junk rating as it expects another $500 mill in losses the next quarter. keep playing your ps4, kiddo. leave finance to the educated.
1. 41.8 million is very very poor profit... Microsoft for instance pulled in 8 BILLION in profit, Activision invested 500 million just on development and marketing for Destiny (One game... 500 million... Sony couldn't make 1/10 of a game like Destiny for how much money they made... How are they going to invest in making more games?)
2. There's a crap load of games coming to the Xbox One by the end of the year... There's NOTHING coming out for the PS4... Wait, Drive Club...
Whatever speakers you use insted, they must be crap. Last of Us is pretty much meant to be played with a surround system
@watchdogsrules Some of the more recent titles are 4.99 for 4 hours.
What are you talking about? You pay to stream. If you want it on Ps3, get it. The Ps4 us not compatible with Ps3 games
@illage2 P.S. Now is to stream PS3, and later PS2 and original P.S. games on specific Sony consoles and T.V.s. It doesn't matter whether or not you have a digital copy already. The prices are quite high and will hopefully be lowered when the service goes live. (it's still just in open Beta)
Dead Rising 3 has sold quite well for Capcom on the XB1 and will be released on the P.C. on Sept. 5th I believe. It will not be coming to the P.S. 4 anytime soon, if at all. From what I understand it was actually Microsoft who approached Capcom about making D.R. 3 for their then upcoming XB1 system and not the other way around.
@illage2 Capcom needs an overhaul in management if they're going to become relevant again. Between the ruination of RE and extreme milking of their fighting franchises, they are not long for this world without doing a 180. And how during a 2D sprite renaissance do they not have a new Ghouls 'n Ghosts game out?
@Kinguard73 "Capcom got lucky with Street Fighter and Resident Evil..."
Capcom has had a hand in making some of the most iconic and treasured video games in the history of the medium. I'm guessing you aren't old enough to remember them when they were at their most prolific. Though I would still think you'd know about more than two of their titles. Here are just a tiny portion of the incredible franchises developed or published by Capcom:
Breath of Fire
Devil May Cry
Ghost 'n Goblins
Well it cost money to make games you know? This is like indicative of the games they're going to be able to make. For instance it cost Activision 500 million for development and marketing for Destiny.... 41.8 million profit... Think about that for a second...
@pikachudude860 I already told you... to... get back in your ball Pikashoe, NOW!
@M3o5nster yea..and I'm still waiting on the upgrade
@diabloakaSAHA and now Microsoft is joining them LOL!
@xboxinsanity @sonyonly4 Your name suits you well. There is NOTHING coming to X bone that looks remotely interesting. PS4 will dominate 2015. Sorry fanboy.
@ArchoNils2 My surround system never gave me any indication of where enemies were at. In fact most games don't seem to make much use of 5.1 at all.
@ArchoNils2 There could still be an option to pay a certain amount for the right to unlimited streaming of a specific game forever, so you have a virtual library. It's clear their servers are nowhere near what would be needed to do so, or they would.
@youre_a_sheep @ArchoNils2 You might need to adjust your surround sound because mine works wonderfully and gives me a clear indication of where a sound originates. My surround sound system is quite old and not particularly good either.
I would find out what model receiver you have and go online, if you no longer have the manual, to ensure it is still setup for 5.1 surround. I have to recalibrate mine quite often. Especially after parties and things when buttons are prone to being inadvertently pushed. Hopefully that is it and it is not defective. Best of luck.
Lol? Your setup must be horrible. There were several times my AI friends scared me because they suddenly began to talk behind me. The Klicker were even worse, especially if I didn't notice them before
@ArchoNils2 Yeah but who wants to keep an eye on the clock while playing?
Well, I was just joking. IMO the worst part of this is how it affects you. As soon as you know you only have a limited amount of time, you rush more through the story and care less about actually enjoying it. If we take last of us as an example: I watch pretty much all of the optional scenes where you could just walk by. I do clean ever room, look at stuff etc. I would not do so if I had to pay per hour. Also are those actually ingame hours? If not it also blocks you in your real life for that timeframe
