GS News - Minecraft Console Sales Surpass PC; More Xbox One Features Coming
Minecraft sales hit 54 million, Microsoft bringing back shelved Xbox One launch features, and Rainbow Six: Siege devs respond to hostage controversy!
So you're telling me that the sales of TWO platforms surpass that of only one? Why is this news? Can it even be considered news?
There was controversy over the hostage .... What a pathetic mess this world has come to thanks to over excessive feminist morons.
The article title says "...More Xbox One Features Coming". I know previous features that were removed were discussed, but I missed any new features coming to the One. Anyone else catch those new features that are coming?
First. Great news to see Minecraft doing great on consoles.
Second as a gamer that couldn't care less about platform wars what I don't like is to see the huge amount of bias towards devices supported by huge companies. It makes the industry look ..."dirty". Like someone is passing a check.
I'm a gamer. I own consoles (xbox 360, one and PS4)I own a gaming PC.
And quite frankly as a gamer I'm not happy with the industry. Today's gamer can't just choose one platform and play all the games he wants on that platform.
So regarding the Minecraft news, what I would like to know is why is it always about PC vs consoles instead of PC vs Xbox One or PC vs PS4 just like it's done when comparing Xbox One vs PS4?
My point being, how is it fair to compare the aggregate sales of a game on both console platforms vs PC sales?
Perhaps I'm wrong, So I would like to point something out.
Why is it that game companies demonstrate their games on PC stating that the game will look the same on consoles and later on they downgrade the games graphics on all platforms including the PC so that "there is platform parity"? Is this fair?
Why are console companies pressuring big companies to downgrade game graphics on the PC?
My point being. As a consumer I want unbiased information and not feel like there is always a PR guy in the back.
And this "consoles beat PC sales" sounds just like one of those news.
I'm diggin that Ishimura shirt. Maybe it's cause I'm coming off a Dead Space kick, but… Off to Google to find out where to get one!
All in all, the UI is one of the reasons I got an X1.
I personally Windows 8, and MS is in the process of making the the UI uniform across all their platforms. (X1, tablets, phone and PC)
Windows 8 is really made for touch screens, its not so great without it, but on a phone and tablet it works great.
I cant wait til they implement live tiles and Cortana on the X1. It will really make the XBOXONE shine.
For all the naysayers, the family sharing was actually a good thing.
From the clips of Phil Spencer that I see on this show, I can't imagine him saying any two words in sequence without popping invisible bubbles by poking the air with his right hand.
This ''controversy'' would not have happened if some people hadn't jumped to a conclusion after seeing only one mission. It seems that these days there are more and more people who try really hard to find some form of discrimination in a game even if it isn't there or is completely unintentional. Sadly I'm starting to noticed this trend on GameSpot too :( Of course, if a game has offensive content in it, you should definitely raise attention to it. I would demand answers from Ubisoft if they had showed multiple levels of Rainbow Six: Siege and all had only female hostages, but what you did this time seemed pretty unprofessional.
I'm very excited for the new Rainbow Six, Far Cry and Assassin's Creed. Weirdly enough, all three games are developed by Ubisoft and had some sort of controversy associated with them a very short time after they were announced. I like conspiracy theories, but I'm not going to say anything for now, I still trust GameSpot and believe that everyone who works here has only the best intentions.
Sorry for my little rant, it's not aimed at you Jess, however, I strongly advise against using a knife in that kind of situation, even if the kidnappers separate, a person without special training couldn't take them out one by one silently let alone fight multiple enemies head on. If one bullet hits you, you're either dead or immobilised and seriously injured, the best thing to do is let the rescuers do their job and do exactly what they tell you :)
Mods and tools make the PC Version the best that can be played - they make the game playable, its just an indie game without much or any quality - a reason why i never bought it.
Who likes Minecraft (creative) should try out Anno 1404 (Iaam mod) or 2070 (ARRC Mod).
I'll never understand the allure of Minecraft. I've played it. I got uncomfortably bored with it after 20 minutes of punching stuff. The only good part was my 7 year old nephew trying to explain this mess with the enthusiasm only a 7 year old and mentally challenged could.
BWAHAHAHA they are thinking to turn back on DRM ........ they are stupid just thinking about it lmao XD the more they do this the more people will by PC's . i say good a PC is a ps1 ps2 soon to be ps3 :P
On the hostage picking up a knife, I don't know, it's easy for us to imagine how me might react in situations but it's another thing when we're actually facing a bad guy with a gun. I will say however that the way the hostage was treated by the good guys seemed totally unrealistic. I'm no hostage rescue expert but I seriously doubt that's how it goes, probably a lot more like what we saw in the old SWAT games. Sigh I miss those games.
What was that "unimaginative" comment at the end? I played it back 3 times and couldn't figure out exactly what was said.
Ah 4th time I got, "I'm unimaginative when writing outros..."
Hello Jess. I have one question and one question only... did you put on new make-up or has the make-up person put something different on you?
Are they seriously bothered by seeing a woman in distress? Thank you feminists for stinking up the place with this political correctness crap.
Good to hear! I know it sounds lazy when said out loud, but having to get up to change the game disc has become a real inconvenience, since it was suggested that there was another option.
I would love a return of the digital-based disc-installed model.
Sweet a politically correct hostage! All right now I can stop complaining... 'shake head in disgust'
1, Seriously that is not a bad idea. men always instinctively wish to protect females. Be it for ego or 'reward' or the rarest thing; because he's noble. I agree a hostage should do more than run and hide if the men around them goes down.
2. Well who wants to overpay to play Minecraft. Console is the obvious choice.
3. Let's hope the fugly drm is not in tow also.....
Pre-load is a nice addition I've used it on steam. It definitely doesn't make me wanna buy a console as I don't preorder too many games, only the ones I know I'm gonna like. But it's good to have it anyways. I can't believe there's a controversy over the female hostage.
@vadagar1 you understand that every console has DRM of some sort... even if it's just on the disc... code requires signed digital signature
@IndremaLover Yeah, it was more like: "We'll look into maybe adding some of the abandoned features such as family share at some point possibly because many gamers seemed to like the idea...maybe." I hope they do give us at least some form of the "family share" program at some point. Though raising the possibility of their return and announcing that they are on the way are obviously no where near the same thing.
@oflow Does family sharing include wife swapping?
@Zombie97 'Starting' to notice this on Gamespot? They been riding this train since the violence in gaming debates fired up.
Hm. Not the creative type? I guess that can be understandable, then for you not liking the game. it really isn't for everyone.
Boredom is a product of your own mind, if seven year olds and the mentally challenged can enjoy it but you can't, maybe it's time to look in the mirror. Best of luck with everything hope you straighten yourself out soon.
@ffragale1 Yeah that's great buy PC, you can steal stuff.
@ffragale1 Where exactly does it say they are "turning back on DRM"?
@ffragale1 you already can emulate PS3 games, as most title also come to PC is even better then a PS4 and Xone together ... i wouldn't trade my PC for both consoles and all the games available.
@hystavito When a hostage is rescued they don't allow him/her to get any kind of weapon. He/she becomes more likely to be a target of lethal fire and, also, that person could be one of the kidnappers trying to scape by pretending to be a victim.
She has a bloke hold a stencil to her face, load a shotgun with make-up and fire away. Usually takes 2-3 applications.
@ECH71 If it was a male hostage who acted the same way nobody would raise an eyebrow. Sadly the most vocal feminists are the most extreme, I'm all for equality but I just cannot support them.
@Kinguard73 They do make it sound like DRM might follow.
@sunyatanada76 bored after 20 min ... that only happens to me when i am playing crap like wolfenstein ... (it was the last game i stopöped very fast) or the last of us was the gmae before.
But i never liked the survival modus in minecraft, but i spend a lot time in creative modus its not about getting stuff and dont waste your time in a stupid way.
@Lykanthropie @ffragale1 Meh I have a gaming PC and lately there have been almost no quality PC exclusives games released.
The only reason to really play PC games nowadays is if you like MMOs, MOBAs, RTS or playing FPS competitively. Especially now that they are bringing all the indie titles out on consoles as well.
The only game I can see in the near future that would really make me want a PC if I didnt have one is Star Citizen.
But the point was not really about procedure or anything like that, it was about portrayal of the victim as the same old helpless woman. My answer to that was as I stated, it's easy to think we'd have that courage to act until we're actually in the situation.
