KOTOR of course,i have nothing against bioshock but as far as I'm concerned KOTOR I is one of the best games ever.
Besides BioShock Infinite was released just last year.
I would much rather a KOTOR 3, but to be quite honest, other than by making it take place years after SWTOR I don't see a way to make it without support from BioWare considering the Disney canonical mandate.
Also I find it hypocritical for people to compare salary of people in broad categories. If you want a honest analysis you need to compare many things including total amount of work, quality of work, and ability to work well with others. Quite honestly if someone is doing the same job as me, with less quality they shouldn't be getting paid the same as me, nor should they be getting the same pay as me if they aren't working as much as me, or can't get along with others. I am not saying that any one group of people can't do this, just that those are the factors we should be concentrating on instead of worrying are people getting paid the same. All information like this is showing is that YOU don't treat people equally and that YOU expect others to pay people the same regardless of other metrics. To me that seems that YOU are the problem not the solution, nor the shining beacon of light trying to find corruption. Personally as a Game Dev, I would only expect to get paid for what I actually accomplish.
There are a few forum posts with people claiming it's a brand new Bioshock for PS4.
Is it just me or does this lady seem to bogart some of these segments to promote feminist education?
Interesting figures about game the game industry, that was a lame attempt at hype by 2k, for a upcoming game, I think i would rather have a knights of the old republic game, but that's just me
So QA is paid pretty low. Since where I work probably 85% of devs are guys, and
the QA dept is nearly all female, the ratio must be more than 77%. The answer should be for gals to code more, not to pay QA the same as dev.
Nobody should even consider Bioshock over KOTOR 3.
KOTOR 1 and 2 were 2 of my all time favorite games, and I own and have played so many games I need to start a youtube channel.
If you have 100 employees, and only 10 are women, the chances of one of those women being a high-up in the company is 1 in 10. Assuming there are only a few positions to fill higher up, that explains exactly why women are earning less than their male counterparts in the same fields. They aren't being paid less for doing the exact same job, they are being paid less due to not being CEOs.
I'd be interested to see the breakdown of that salary study! I saw that females in QA testing made a hair more than males, and I wonder what percentage of the devs are actually developers and not entry level QA people. My GF is going into software engineering, and it's pretty striking what small percentage of the students are are female. Just not as much interest there for women students.
I definitely vote for a new KOTOR game. Especially since KOTOR II was SO disappointing.
Tough question!! I love both franchises. If pushed, then I'd say KOTOR as we haven't had a SP adventure for such a long time.
As for Bioshock, I wonder if the apple means that the franchise will be heading primarily to portable devices? Perhaps the rumoured Vita title?
If they do bring out another Bioshock game, I'd really want to see a revamp of the gameplay mechanics. Infinite was such a disappointment in this regard. Levine created such an amazing backdrop but only let us shoot & scav. So much more interaction next time round then please.
The 1.73 mystery? Is 173 an unlucky number in Japan? Could its omission be because of superstition. Or could it just be that someone forgot that there is a 3 between a 4 & a 5?
You keep giving us homework Jess, so in return we'd like you to get to the bottom of this mystery.
KOTOR, hands down. Lucas Arts just plain sucks, KOTOR is the best Star Wars related thing since the original movies. Denying huge potential there, many people would pay big.
I've replayed the entirety of the original KOTOR more than 50 times over the years. It is by far my favorite Star Wars game, and one of my favorite games of all time. While I think it would be nigh impossible to make a third game in the series that is as good as the first, I'd love to see them try.
LMAO. People will bend over backwards to twist information to fit into their propaganda narrative. Everyone is always quick to tell you that "Women earn X% less then men in this industry" yet they don't compare the sexes best on an actual JOB to JOB basis.
OF COURSE their will be a wage gap if you compare the salaries of women in audio design and art to the men in business management and software development. Now if you said that female audio designers made less than their male counterparts then that would be an issue. You can't compare the salaries of individuals in different fields and draw any conclusion other than different fields have different salaries.
Men on average are drawn to more dangerous, higher risk, higher reward, and STEM field jobs more than women. Women tend to pursue industries that are more stable, safer, service industries, social services, or jobs where you help people in need more than men do.
The real question is why aren't more women compelled to pursue STEM fields or riskier fields that on average pay more and why men aren't drawn to fields like teaching or social services that are safer and more stable.
This salary average is meaningless, there are many devs earning a ton of money on successful titles while there also are devs barely making ends meet on smaller titles that don't fare so well. If you're thinking of working in the industry, don't realistically expect to be paid anything close to this average for a long time, unless by chance you are involved in a project that ends up being a hit.
KOTOR 3 Would be so awesome to have! we have been waiting for so long and they crushed our hearts last time when they anounced the MMO crap
Thank you Jess.
I support you 100%. You do your job much better than any male.
You bring back people to this website religiously better than any male.
You get people staying here in the comments section longer and coming back more frequently better than any male.
You better not be unjustly treated. I'm on your side--so are a lot of other people--we'll talk to your bosses and make sure you get a fair deal or we'll make him feel like the pig he is.
The world is a better place because of the positive contributions of others. It doesn't make a difference if you're a man or a woman if you can do your job better than anyone else. People stink the place up--the world is not a better place when someone is discriminated just because they're a woman or other reason. Everyone loses.
Debroh Tannon, PhD. Sociolinguist --
A Woman's Style of Communication and Her Less Self-ish Nature Contributes to the Pay Discrepancy -- Harvard Business Review (1990) and many other books.
(I think I spelled her name and job correctly--I'm doing it out of memory from years ago.
Yes, there is an unfortunate glass ceiling and discrimination, but a woman's less "pig like' and selfish nature and her more indirect style of communication than her male counterpart tends to get her the rewards, pay and promotion she deserves even though she may have the major reason of successes experienced -- the male got the credit.
But, when the woman went straight to the boss and spoke of the disparity in pay, she got equal pay.
And then there's my military experience, I won't brag, but it took someone (me) to stand up and put his neck on the line . . .
You have to stand up, but don't be like me and the way I was way back then.
I would prefer a KOTOR 3 ofcourse. KOTOR series were great and if it will have the same gameplay and great story as the previous games, I will buy it. No questions asked :P.
No doubt i would prefer KOTOR 3, they should continue the story of KOTOR 2, and keep it's original gameplay (i dont understand why they transformed a great game into an MMO, the people that played the first two games liked because what it was and didn't need a multiplayer game, no mention of what they did to revan). They were two of the best rpg games that i have played they had a great story and a great gameplay, and i must add to this thatthey were star wars games, what makes them even better.
I have been wating for a sequel of this game for ten years I hope it's true dont play with my heart jess
@Keith0024 She loses her British accent every so often too. I think it is fake.
@Aaronp2k yeah so sick of bioshock, bioshock infinite was so boring and repetitive
@WitIsWisdom I second that,I've been gaming since amiga/commodore days :) and since then i played pretty much every game worth mentioning, and i have to say KOTOR 1 and 2 are one of my all time favorites and KOTOR 1 had one of the best stories ever.
The same cannot be said for your comments. In fact, you strike me as a sad & bitchy person; I'm guessing that you're not very happy with your life & seek solace by inflicting misery on others.
@RevLux 50 times you say?
@Diablo-B There was no comparison between men in one field of work and women in another. Jess specifically stated for each figure that it was being compared to their male counterparts. That means their salaries were compared to those of the opposite sex in the same field.
Is that a euphemism for saying that Eve was wrinkled & saggy?!
Sorry, I'm just messing about! You're comment did make chuckle though & its true, you do learn something new everyday.
The idea that it was an apple comes from western religious tradition. I do not want to get into an discussion about religion that usually end badly for all those involved, but the original Hebrew text actually does not specify what kind of fruit it was. It just say that the fruit was taken from the forbidden tree. Who knows maybe it was a fig.
@habeasdata my question is, will it only be an xbox exclusive? good for xbox bad for me... *sigh*
I'm betting she wouldn't touch you with a ten foot clowning pole
On the contrary, I believe that it is you that needs the sexual relief. Judging by your immature & asinine posts, it seems obvious to me that you are the victim of constant sexual rejection. You reek of bitterness! I'm betting that your are as unattractive on the outside as you are within. I pity you!
That is indeed a tad fruity, but then when you really love things in life, you do tend to do them over & over. RevLux is clearly smitten!
More correctly, the earth and everything else was created in six YOMS, which loosely translates to day in English. A yom can be a long period of time, a 24 hour day, or just the daylight part of a day. I and science go with yom as meaning a long period of time as in 'in this day and age,' 'in the day of the dinosaurs', ect.
But at least you acknowledged the existence of a creator who kicked off the ball game.
"Is that a euphemism for saying that Eve was wrinkled & saggy?!"
LOL! HAHAHA! That's funny. I liked it. Thank you.
@hplessrmantic I hope not it would be bad for me too i've never had a console, i only have a pc. But if the first two games came out for pc too i would be optimistic if they made a third one that it would make it for pc too
I don't believe in mods. I play games they way they were intended to be played (unless it's a simple graphics upgrade or something very simple which doesn't change the experience).
@RevLux I agree with you KOTOR 1 and 2 were the best star wars games and one of the best rpg's that i have played they have a gret story and gameplay( it's a pity the KOTor MMO ruined it), but i only replayed both games like five times each, you must really like them to play 50 times
@dani_i89 Yeah but one of the mods is the restored content of KOTOR 2 with all the things that couldn be finished because they rushed the making of the game and didn't finished, so i think that the content of that mod i woth of playing
@dani_i89 KOTOR has been out for some eleven years now. The last time I played it was probably a year ago. So 50 times spread out over a decade isn't quite as "remarkable" as the number alone might suggest. I also played it on the Xbox and P.C. (mainly because it came out on the Xbox first)
