Sensible soccer was the nuts, I remember the Sunday all day mates league's we'd set up coming down from a heavy night out on the Rave scene, the only version worth talking about is the Amiga one as it never translated to a "D" pad, micro switched joysticks such as a Kempston or Bug were the way ahead, The laughs watching the inexperienced score an own goal from a goal kick was fucking hilarious( push forward, pull back, press button for a large climbing kick). I remember I beat my mate just by forcing him into goal kicks, 6 home goals, man that was twenty years ago, and I still get a chuckle out of that, great times, great games

SWOS is still the best football game ever made

a game came out about the same time as cannon fodder, you flew an apachi helicopter about and blew things up on a map that looked very like CF? did ammo drops and saved people as well if i remember right, anyone know what I'm talking about?

Remember playing Sensible Soccer in the days of yore. Remember there was some issues with name liscensing as there were no Manchester United (perhaps Manchester Red?). I always knew I had the right team when I found my main man "Goggs"

I remember playing cannon fodder as a kid and they're spot on with the trauma you feel when one of them dies. I've had a few sad moments in mass effect games for example when one of your partner in arms dies but despite all the great characterisation and voice acting I think I still felt worse when RJ got killed by an exploding roof.

Good episode. Think I played a couple of their games way back when and it was interesting to hear about how the game world changed and they had a hard time adapting.

I loved Cannon Fodder for the first few levels. But quickly came to absolutely hate it (in the good Dark Souls way) because I absolutely stank at it. Sensi is still fun now but I was always more of a kick off fan.
